But after a lot of booze, Jemmye feels safe enough to confide in him about her past; and the revelation seems to make their bond stronger.Jemmye reveals to Knight that she was in an abusive relationship for over a year. Knight, through a bit of slurring and slow speech, is livid.
"Here's my problem," says Knight. "I love his girl, I will never let anything happen to this girl ... That's like my No. 1 pet-peeve."
Knight can't believe she put up with it. "You become too terrified to leave the situation," explains Jemmye. "It was easier to deal with it for 15 minutes, 20 minutes a day, than to leave and be seriously terrified."

Who was your money on to be the first housemate on this season of 'The Real World' (Wed., 10PM ET on MTV) to get hideously, embarrassingly trashed? If it was Jemmye, then well done.Knight's attempts to bed Jemmye quickly backfire when she gets drunk and wants him to take care of her. She roams the house, calling out his name and crying.
"Breakdown on Bourbon Street," says Knight of Jemmye. "This is major babysitting, which is major problems for this guy. I've done my part: I brought Jemmye home safely. And it's just like, give me my space now."
Fellow housemates chide him for avoiding Jemmye, and Ryan appears physically repulsed when she traipses into his room and starts weeping.
Knight eventually goes to her rescue. Jemmye tries calling her mom, but her tears and high-pitched squealing only lead the woman to hang up on her daughter. Knight, you've picked a winner.
'Real World' 24: Trailer Trash and Gay Cooties (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Jul 1st 2010 4:45AM
The cast of the 24th season of 'The Real World' (Wed., 10PM ET on MTV) wastes no time: They begin fighting in the premiere episode. It all starts in a gay bar, when Ryan Leslie (who's straight) is kissed on the neck by another patron. Preston Roberson-Charles (who's gay) jokes, "You know, now you're going to turn gay. It's called a 'gay cootie' -- that's what happens once one of us touch you with our lips. It's like the princess and the frog."
Ryan replies, "You guys touch me, and I feel like killing myself." Preston says, "That was really harsh," and then they start yelling at each other, with Ryan telling him to stop acting "hardcore."
Later, Ryan walks into Preston and Jemmye Carroll's bedroom. Maybe he's trying to patch things up, but he proceeds to get into a fight with Jemmye, calling her "trailer trash" and "[beep] ridiculous."
And so it begins.
