Fallon's Afraid Jennifer Garner's Going to Beat Him Up For Making Fun of 'The Town' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 7th 2011 5:39AM
Jennifer Garner, 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'A word of advice for anyone who might be interviewing Jennifer Garner in the future. Take a lesson from the beat-down Jimmy Fallon feared he was going to get on 'Late Night' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC). Do not make fun of 'The Town.' In fact, you might not even want to mention the film.

'The Town' was directed and co-written by her husband Ben Affleck, who also starred in it. Garner is apparently quite protective of her husband's work.

After sharing an incident where her band director was arrested by the FBI for robbing banks, Fallon said it would make a great movie, "like 'Election' meets 'Glee' meets 'The Town'."

Jennifer Garner Used to Dream of Designing Jewelry With David Letterman (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 6th 2011 2:11AM
Jennifer Garner, 'Late Show with David Letterman'If this whole acting thing ever dries up for Jennifer Garner, it looks like she'll be just fine. She revealed on 'Late Show with David Letterman' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) that she has an entrepreneurial mind dating back to her college days, if not earlier.

Her methods might have been a little questionable, as she was using school equipment and stealing elastic from the theater department, but you have to be impressed with the ingenuity she and her roommate had in developing a scrunchie business out of it.

"We made so much money," she said. In fact, according to the actress there are still people out there who've hung onto the scrunchies they bought from her.

Russell Brand Calls Katy Perry's Lips a 'Conduit to Paradise' (VIDEO)

Russell Brand Calls Katy Perry's Lips a 'Conduit to Paradise'In case anyone was wondering, it seems Russell Brand is absolutely the type to kiss and tell. On 'The View,' Sherri Shepherd notes how Brand described Jennifer Garner's mouth as being made of "red velvet cake," then gives him a chance to turn a phrase regarding the lips of wife Katy Perry.

Brand co-stars with Garner in the upcoming remake of 'Arthur' and evidently enjoyed his kissing scenes with the actress. But he lays it on thick when asked to describe Perry's kisser.

Jim Belushi Is Willing to Do Yoga for the Paparazzi (VIDEO)

Jim Belushi Is Willing to Do Yoga for the PaparazziWhat is Jim Belushi doing in the photo to the right? Is he stretching? Practicing a swan dive? Trying to hide George Lopez's face from the camera?

None of the above! In fact, Belushi is showing how he gets his picture snapped by the paparazzi. On 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights 11PM ET on TBS), the host revealed a photo of Mr. Belushi diving to the ground. George asked what was going on in the picture. "Are you breakdancing?" he said.

It turns out that Jim lives in a busy Hollywood neighborhood -- Jennifer Garner, Noami Watts and Jessica Biel also live there, and the paparazzi are constantly trying to take candid shots of the actresses. But they're not so excited about Belushi.

Jennifer Garner Imagines Her Ideal Mother's Day (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 30th 2010 12:31PM
Mother's Day is nearly here, and Jennifer Garner imagines how the holiday would be ideally spent with husband Ben Affleck and their children on 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7AM ET on CBS).

"Ben's really good. He knows I love flowers and he always, always 100% of the time, you know, spoils me," Garner said, then dropping a not-so-subtle hint for how she wants this year's holiday for moms to go. "I'm sure that this year will be my favorite because I'm sure they'll wake me up with breakfast in bed, and I'm sure they'll have made me a homemade card, and they'll have flowers for me, and my husband will be there smiling."

What You Missed Last Night: Kimmel and the "Best Actor in Real Life"

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 8th 2010 1:30PM
'Jimmy Kimmel Live' has a post-Oscars live show every year and last night he had a variety of guests, including Christoph Waltz, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Matt Damon, John Krasinksi, Ted Danson, Rob Lowe, Keith Urban, Sting, Matthew McConaughey, and many others. He also showed one award they didn't show on the Oscars, the one for "Best Actor in Real Life." I think the right guy won.

Jimmy Kimmel Spoons Ben Affleck in the Handsome Club (VIDEO)

Jimmy Kimmel, Handsome Club, Ben Affleck, Jennifer GarnerOne of the funniest things we've seen in a while is Jimmy Kimmel's Handsome Club bit on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12:05AM ET on ABC).

You might have caught part of it during the Oscars, but seriously, find the full video and watch it; well worth the nine minutes or so. How he managed to round up all those celebrities is beyond us. Then again, he IS Jimmy Kimmel, president of the Handsome Club. But probably not for long.

Late night wars? We smell victory for Kimmel.

A 'Laverne and Shirley' Remake for the Big Screen?

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 10th 2010 10:37AM
laverne_and_shirley_bowlingSchlemiel! Schlimazel! Are you ready to see America's most beloved Milwaukee girls on the make on the big screen? According to director Garry Marshall, creator of 'Happy Days,' he has hopes to put the spinoff from that show, the successful 'Laverne & Shirley' to the movies. As with all the other hopes for silver screen adaptations, this one comes with some fanciful casting attached, too.

Garry was on 'Extra' promoting his new romantic comedy 'Valentine's Day' and revealed the 'Laverne & Shirley' dream casting: Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel. That's right. This pair of Shotz Brewery factory employees -- who live in a basement apartment in 1960 Milwaukee and struggle to find the men of their dreams -- would be played by two of the most beautiful women in Hollywood. Is that a cynical way of looking at it? Yes, it is.

Jennifer Garner Gets Defiled by a Dolphin (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 10th 2010 3:35AM
Late Show with David Letterman: Jennifer Garner gets friendly with a dolphinWe've heard that it's quite magical swimming with dolphins, and apparently, the dolphins feel that way, too. In fact, the story Jennifer Garner told on 'Late Show With David Letterman' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) explains a lot about why dolphins are so friendly with humans.

It seems that Garner was training for a guest spot on 'Fantasy Island,' and one particular dolphin got up close and personal with her. Hmmm ... wonder if there's any dolphins in her new movie, 'Valentine's Day.'

Jennifer Garner is no friend of Ina Garten's

by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 4th 2010 5:04PM
Ina GartenSo Jennifer Garner contacted the people at The Barefoot Contessa, saying she was a big fan and she'd like to be on the show. And they turned her down!

Ina Garten says that she won't have the former Alias star on the show because she only has real friends on the show with her. I actually have to admire that. A lot of shows would jump at the chance to have any sort of TV or movie celebrity on, just to get some buzz or ratings or celebrity gravitas. It's refreshing that Garten sees the phoniness behind that and actually has people on the show that she knows. I guess Garner has to get to know her first and then they can make soup together.

Best TV of the '00s: Dramatic Actress

by Allison Waldman, posted Jan 1st 2010 11:02AM
allison_janney_west_wingMore of our best of the decade coverage, which started on Tuesday. You can read the other posts at the link above. Here, we talk about the best dramatic actresses of the decade.

Television has always been good to the ladies. Actresses have flourished in dramatic series, and in the past decade, we've seen some amazing performances. There have been lawyers, cops, a U.S. president, nurses, doctors, judges, mothers, daughters and even a real housewife from New Jersey whose husband was in the waste disposal business.

Many of these women have already been honored with Emmys and Golden Globes... and now they get the recognition of TV Squad.

Here, then, without further vamping, the best dramatic actresses of the past ten years:

Networks go to war over J.J. Abrams new spec script

by Brad Trechak, posted Oct 1st 2009 4:27PM
J.J. AbramsIt's great to be J.J. Abrams. His newest spec script about a married spy couple is currently undergoing a bidding war that it looks like NBC is winning. On top of that, he's got a new comedy on Fox and he's behind one of the best revitalizations of a franchise in the history of the medium. The script is co-written by Josh Reims, who worked on shows such as ABC's Brothers & Sisters and Dirty Sexy Money.

As others have noted, this new spec script could play as a sequel to his hit show Alias. That show did end with Sydney and Michael married with two kids being asked to return to service. Sadly, I think Jennifer Garner would consider that a backwards step in her career no matter how much she owes Abrams. Perhaps she could make a cameo?

It's interesting that the television spinoff of Mr. & Mrs. Smith didn't last long and had the very same premise. But then, Abrams wasn't behind that one.

The Jay Leno Show: Jennifer Garner, Rep. Barney Frank

Jay Leno interviews Barney Frank in Ten@Ten
The Jay Leno Show
has only been on for a week, but it's already starting to fall into a familiar pattern, and that's a good thing for late night. Familiarity creates a steady audience by making it more comforting, and helps weed out what doesn't work and focus on what does.

Unfortunately, the thing that makes the late night format work is breaking Jay's show.

Just about the only thing that works with Jay's show is his monologue. The rest make him feel more out of his element than Donnie from The Big Lebowski.
