The Fox singing competition returns in January and if the preview below is any indication, it will be filled with our favorite 'Idol' standbys: frustrated contestants, Steven Tyler's antics, tears and declarations that these 20somethings will be "stars."
Tyler will be joined at the judges table by both Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez, despite lengthy contract talks for the latter. Ryan Seacrest returns as host.

"Very soon the world's heart will beat to the tune of Latin rhythms and we're looking forward to experiencing history in the making, Lopez said in a statement. "It is with great pride that we embark on this amazing and very personal mission to discover and celebrate the most captivating talent the world has ever seen."
Chang said the couple had mutually agreed to the divorce. "We realized very, very early on that even though we're not together, this story's not over," Anthony told 'Nightline.' "There's stuff to do together. There's life to see together through Max and Emmy. You know what I mean? So it's all good, man."
Thankfully, both sides were able to work out a deal, and now Fox has officially announced that all three of last season's judges -- Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy "Dawg" Jackson -- will return to gage the singing prowess of America's superstar hopefuls on 'American Idol' this spring.
"I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of 'American Idol,' [are] back for the next season," Lythgoe said in an interview on 'On Air with Ryan Seacrest.'
Lopez's 'Idol' future was up in the air for much of the summer. In an interview with BBC, Lopez said she was unsure whether or not she would return to the Fox reality competition series.
'Today' reported on other news stories that quoted Lopez saying she and Anthony had fought about everything, and that they were "spicy." Lopez also reportedly said of the relationship, "Sometimes I need to be in charge, sometimes he needs to be in charge." Lopez also said she respected Anthony as a singer, a performer, and as the father of her children.
LA Fitness polled 2,000 people to come up with Mirren, who appeared nude at 58 in the movie 'Calendar Girls.' "She's got a fabulous body, she really does," said one man on the street, looking at a photo of Mirren in a bikini. "But I don't know, I'd still pick J-Lo over her."
A couple of younger women in Times Square also thought it was "awesome" that a 66-year-old woman could top the poll. "I think she has a better body than I do right now," said one. MacPherson, at 48, came in second, and Cheryl Cole was the only one in the top five under thirty. Who says LA is obsessed with youth?
Jennifer Lopez and Fox have reportedly reached a new deal to keep the singer/actress with 'American Idol' for another year. The deal will net a Lopez a sum of just over $20 million, according to The Wrap.
Lopez joined the show in Season 10 as part of the new judging panel alongside Steven Tyler and 'Idol' veteran Randy Jackson. Her contract was for only one season and Lopez made statements to the press about her indecision to stick with the Fox reality series.
"I don't know," Lopez told BBC Radio about returning to the hit show. "I haven't been forced to make a decision and I'm glad about that because honestly I'm very on the fence about it."
According to the Hollywood Reporter, her Season 10 deal was for $12 million. In 2006, Simon Cowell signed a contract that gave him $33 million per season for 'American Idol.'
According to 'The Wall Street Journal,' Lopez is close to signing a deal that will bring her back to the 'American Idol' judging panel for at least one more season.
When Lopez's original one-year contract -- estimated at $12 million -- expired back in May she said she was "on the fence" about committing to the series for another season, and she's been pitching her own TV talent show to networks.
'Idol' execs, in return, then let it be known that they were lining up possible replacements should they be unable to lure her back.
"I don't believe that thing about the video lover, I don't believe that they are divorced," said Williams, to an incredulous panel. Williams talked about Simon Cowell starting to hype up the 'X Factor,' Paula Abdul's return to television, and the success of 'The Voice' as part of her conspiracy theory. She laid it down as if she were talking sense to someone who refused to believe.
The celebrity ex-couple will continue to co-produce their new reality show, 'Q'Viva,' together, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The talent competition seeks a Latin American singing superstar.
A rep told THR, "The show goes on. 'Q'Viva!,' the hotly anticipated 2012 celebration of Latin music, artistry and dance, is set to film this autumn in South America with Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony as previously announced."

'GMA' quoted the couple's statement to the press Friday, which said, "We have decided to end our marriage. This was a difficult decision." The report also mentioned Lopez's banner year, including her job judging 'American Idol,' People magazine naming her the "World's Most Beautiful Woman," and her new single 'On the Floor.'
'GMA' also mentioned that Lopez has had several high-profile relationships, and was married twice previous to her marriage to Anthony. The report also mentioned the cliché "Seven Year Itch," which seemed like a reach for an explanation.
The TV power couple released the following statement to People:
"We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters.
"It is a painful time for all involved and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."
The couple has been married for seven years and recently collaborated on Latin American talent show, 'Q'Viva: The Chosen.'
Lopez joined 'American Idol' last season and has yet to reveal her plans for next season. Anthony recently joined the cast of TNT's 'Hawthorne.'
Jennifer Lopez recently told the BBC that she's "on the fence" about returning to 'American Idol' next season. Although many insiders have dismissed it as just a ploy to get a pay hike, 'Idol' execs are already discussing possible replacements should they not be able to entice J.Lo to return.
"Right now the star of 'American Idol' is Steven Tyler," an insider source tells Popeater. "Everyone thought after Simon announced he was leaving that [Lopez] would fill the void. How wrong were they? It's all about Steven, who's already signed on for Season 11."
Marc Anthony Reminisces About Meeting Jennifer Lopez, 'The Most Beautiful Woman In the World' (VIDEO)
Anthony said he first met Lopez backstage at Paul Simon's Broadway musical 'The Capeman,' in which he was a co-star. "She walked in and I was just like, 'You're my wife and you don't even know it.'" Lopez apparently thought that was "intense," but it obviously didn't put her off.
Sharon Osbourne called Lopez "the most beautiful woman I think I have ever met in the entire world." She asked if it made Anthony nervous to be married to her. Anthony said 'People' just found out what he's known all along. "I signed up many years ago," he said. "I went all in."
