TV Stars Join Kirk Douglas to Serve Thanksgiving Dinner to the Homeless

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 24th 2011 9:50AM
Kirk DouglasTV stars joined screen legend Kirk Douglas and his wife Anne Wednesday to serve an early Thanksgiving Dinner to thousands of homeless people in Los Angeles. The 95 year-old Douglas -- who lived in poverty as a child -- hosted the event for the seventh year in a row on behalf of the Los Angeles Mission, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

The Douglases, who have supported the nonprofit for decades, were joined at the event by LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck and celebrities including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kim Kardashian, Blair Underwood and Zoe Saldana.

Organizers told the AP they served an estimated 3,000 lbs of turkey, 700 lbs of mashed potatoes, 800 lbs of green beans, 80 gallons of gravy and 600 pies. "What goes into this meal? A lot of love," Chef Dave Thomas told CBS Local News.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Plays Victoria's Daughter on 'Hot In Cleveland' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 28th 2011 6:15PM
Jennifer Love Hewitt and Betty White on 'Hot In Cleveland'Victoria (Wendie Malick) has done some things in her life she'd rather not see made public. So when her daughter Emmy (Jennifer Love Hewitt, appearing in a guest role) decides to write a tell-all book, she has to think quickly to convince her not to, and enlists Elka (Betty White) to play Emmy's old nanny and talk some sense into her. That was the plot for this week's 'Hot In Cleveland' (Wednesdays, 10PM on TV Land), which also involved bad accents and Indians tickets.

"Just like your book, it could make everyone feel sorry for your mum and ... and she gets all the attention," Elka told Emmy. The bad Irish accent is because Emmy's old nanny was Irish, and Elka was trying to play the part. She did it well enough to convince Emmy to change her mind, and she declared she would cancel the book deal. And the movie deal, the one where the producers wanted Emmy and Victoria to play themselves.

Christopher Meloni's 'SVU' Replacement: Who's on the Short List?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 21st 2011 6:35AM
Mariska Hargitay and Christopher MeloniIt's only been a month since Christopher Meloni stepped down from 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,' but producers are reportedly screen-testing his possible replacements in New York today.

Production on the upcoming Season 13 is due to get underway soon and, according to Deadline.com, 'SVU' creator/executive producer Dick Wolf and NBC have narrowed the field to a short list of five.

The actors, who have all doubtless just spent a sleepless night in the Big Apple rehearsing their lines, have been named as: Danny Pino ('Cold Case'), Kevin Alejandro ('True Blood,' 'Southland'), David Conrad ('Ghost Whisperer'), Michael Raymond-James ('Terriers') and Rhys Coiro ('Entourage').

Each one will test today with Meloni's co-star, Mariska Hargitay, who plays Det. Olivia Benson on the drama. Both Alejandro and Raymond-James recently guest-starred on 'SVU,' so could be feeling like they've got the edge.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Recalls Very First Date ... With Fred Savage (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 12th 2010 4:30PM
Apparently, Jennifer Love Hewitt has a long history of relationships with famous men that have gone sour. On 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated), Hewitt shared the story of her very first date at 14-years-old, which included a night out with 16-year-old Fred Savage of 'The Wonder Years.' And, Hewitt said, after their one date, Savage never called her again.

From there, discussion turns towards Hewitt's breasts, which Wendy Williams describes as "legendary" and, less flatteringly, "pendulous." "They had a career of their own, which far surpassed mine," Hewitt said.

Jennifer Love Hewitt's Worst Date Ever (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 9th 2010 4:30PM
If this story by Jennifer Love Hewitt is any indication, then dating for celebrities isn't any more pleasant than it is for the rest of us. On 'The Bonnie Hunt Show' (weekdays, syndicated), Hewitt said her worst dating experience was with a man sporting snakeskin loafers and hair like Donald Trump, who presented her with a childish *NSYNC backpack and brought altoids "for their kiss at the end of the night."

As if things could get any worse, Hewitt said that, during their date, the man got hit by a ball while in a batting cage and fell to the ground "crying for his mommy." At the end of the night during their goodbye kiss, Hewitt feigned a sore throat. But, this didn't seem to deter her suitor, who proclaimed that Hewitt "might be the one."

Jennifer Love Hewitt, Craig Ferguson Talk Dating Burt Reynolds (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 9th 2010 10:45AM
Jennifer Love HewittJennifer Love Hewitt stopped by 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' (weeknights, 12:35AM ET on CBS) to clear up a few rumors.

The star of 'Ghost Whisperer' wanted to set the record straight on a gossip item: She is not dating Burt Reynolds, the two just happened to be having dinner at the same restaurant. Hewitt hasn't even met the actor. However, if she had met Reynolds, Ferguson said she'd be singing a different tune.

"If you met him, you'd be ... like, 'I'd be happy to date Burt Reynolds,'" Ferguson said. "Because I've met Burt Reynolds and I'm straight but I was like, 'I'd go gay for you, Burt.'" Ferguson's reason? Reynolds' hair. Interesting indeed ...

'Ghost Whisperer' - 'On Thin Ice' Recap

Ghost Whisperer
(S05E17) "What is happening to me?" - Damon

What's happening to you, Damon? You are the haunted character of the week that Melinda and company try to help. Same old, same old. This week's installment of 'Ghost Whisperer' was pretty much a filler episode that didn't offer character or show mythology development. I know, I know, not every single episode can move the year's main storylines along.

Luckily, the culprit of the week was not that easy to pinpoint and the comic book theme was pretty cool, especially when the last shot before each commercial was comic-book panel style. Sadly, these cool tidbits were overshadowed by a really badly done fantasy sequence.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Slaps Audience Member on 'Rachael Ray' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 2nd 2010 12:30PM
On 'The Rachael Ray Show' (weekdays, syndicated), an audience member says that, when he looks at other women while with his girlfriend, he's not actually drawn to their good looks. Instead, the man claims to be appreciating their fashion sense and imagining how their clothes would look on his significant other.

Jennifer Love Hewitt doesn't buy the man's explanation, however, and invites him up on stage where she playfully slaps his hand and chides him.

Dame Edna Gives Jennifer Love Hewitt a 'Vajazzling' Gift (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 25th 2010 4:00PM
Just when we thought the subject of Jennifer Love Hewitt's "vajazzling" was over and done with, Dame Edna gives it new life by presenting the actress with a bag of jewels and a bottle of Elmer's Glue on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated).

After Hewitt explains that the term relates to adorning one's "little lady region" with Swarovski crystals, Dame Edna presents her with a gift of jewels and a way of affixing them. Hewitt notes the rather large size of the jewels, to which Dame Edna responds, "I didn't know what area we were covering."

Jennifer Love Hewitt on Finding True Love (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 23rd 2010 11:30AM
While promoting her new book 'The Day I Shot Cupid' on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC), Jennifer Love Hewitt addressed the reaction by the press to her dating history, and discussed what she thinks it'll take to find true love.

Hewitt said she thinks the press has described her as a "serial dater" because she tends to "just spend time with people and have boyfriends versus dates." She added that, in order to find Mr. Right, she thinks it's necessary to work through "a lot of frogs" before finding a "prince." Interesting, but does that really explain why she slummed it with 'Ghost Whisperer' co-star Jamie Kennedy?

'Ghost Whisperer' - 'Old Sins Cast Long Shadows' Recap

Ghost Whisperer
(S05E16) "Don't come back. You'll be dead too." - Cassidy from the mirror

Last week's 100th episode was a tough act to follow. We couldn't expect an episode as action packed as 'Implosion' was this week but we were given spooky episode that, even if somewhat a "filler episode" because we didn't learn a lot of new tidbits about the Shadows, helped push the issue about the Shadows and them wanting children a bit further.

'Old Sins Cast Long Shadows' was yet another rather dark episode of the series this season. Madame Greta looked so spooky and scary that I'm glad I forgot to record the episode on Friday so I couldn't watch it on my return around 11 p.m. and had to watch the episode online during the day (which is why my review is late as I had to wait for it to be online). Yes, I scare that easy.

Ghost Whisperer
(S05E15) "Wow! It must be really really interesting to be you." - Delia to Melinda

It may be interesting to be Melinda, but it's also scary, stressful and demanding. Melinda's gift does allow her to help people, but it also comes with a price. This week's milestone episode put Melinda and co. in grave danger, and one important character died in the end.

Jennifer Love Hewitt directed this week's installment, which is the show's 100th episode. She did a very good job, especially for such an action-pack and Shadow-heavy episode. Bravo!

So who died? The answer coming up!

Review: 'Ghost Whisperer' - 'Dead to Me'

Ghost Whisperer
(S05E14) "Who died and made you the expert?" - Avery to Melinda

This last new episode of 'Ghost Whisperer' before the Olympics hiatus (even though CBS is not airing the Olympics) not only offered us funny girl Margaret Cho as Ned's Occult Anthropology professor, who didn't believe in what she was teaching, but also pushed the dark side of the show's mythology thanks to an object Melinda and company don't like at all: a Ouija board.

Even with the introduction of the mysterious Ouija board, the episode didn't offer much new info about how the good and dark sides work, but it was interesting to see Cho's character, Professor Avery Grant, cope with the fact that was she was teaching actually had some truth to it. However, the most intriguing scene was the final one when the Ouija board confirmed something Melinda didn't want to be true...
