Jerry Springer Dresses Up as Lady Gaga for Halloween (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 31st 2011 7:30PM
A mystery trick or treater rang 'Rachael Ray''s (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) doorbell Monday, and a very tall Lady Gaga in drag was at the door. Rachael, wearing a Little Red Riding Hood costume, lifted the veil to reveal that it was Jerry Springer. The look was so bizarre that the audience didn't even realize it was Springer until Rachael and Buddy shouted his name.

Still in costume, Jerry sat down and talked about being on the air for 21 years. "Two names: Jerry and Oprah. That's the list that's gone over 20," Rachael marveled.

Jerry Springer: Criticism of My Show Is 'Class Warfare' (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 12th 2011 5:45PM
The 'Jerry Springer Show' recently celebrated its twentieth anniversary, and to commemorate the occasion, Jerry stopped by 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) to defend the show from its critics. According to Springer, the reason people dismiss his program as trash isn't due to the sibling love-triangles, one-legged strippers or baby mama drama, but is rather an example of class warfare in action.

"The reason I think people criticize the show primarily is because we look down to people who aren't wealthy, aren't very educated, people that are poor. Because if you look at late night shows, they have celebrities on that are talking about the exact same things, who they've slept with, what scandal they've been involved with and everything else. But as soon as it's a poor person having these problems, suddenly they're trash. It's class warfare against these people," Springer said.

'The Jerry Springer Show' Still Alive and Kicking (and Punching) After 20 Years

by Chris Jancelewicz, posted Sep 30th 2011 5:45AM
Jer-ry! Jer-ry! Jer-ry!

We all know the meaning of that battle cry, so please don't try to deny it. Twenty years (and 505 episodes) after its launch, 'The Jerry Springer Show' -- voted "#1 Worst Show of All Time" by TV Guide -- is still hitting humanity's basest nerves with its mixture of out-there guests and in-studio violence.

Unlike predecessors 'The Jenny Jones Show' and 'Sally Jesse Raphael,' which fell victim to an off-screen murder and low ratings (respectively), 'Springer' has managed to survive the omnipresence of the internet and a zillion muck-racking reality TV shows.

AOL TV tried to find the answers to the obvious questions -- Is the show for real? How has it lasted? What's Springer like when he's "off"? And how long is he planning on hosting this show? -- by attending the taping of an episode. We share what we found out, after the jump.

'Jerry Springer' Execs Say They Never Made Monetary Offer to Casey Anthony

by PopEater Staff, posted Jul 9th 2011 10:00AM
Casey Anthony, Jerry SpringerAfter reports began to swirl that 'The Jerry Springer Show' was offering Casey Anthony $1 million to make an appearance with her family, the show's execs are now saying that the supposed monetary offer is completely false.

"There is absolutely no truth to this story whatsoever," 'Jerry Springer' spokesman Gary Rosen said in a statement. "'The Jerry Spring Show' has not made any monetary offer to Casey Anthony and her family to appear on the program, nor will we."

The rumored appearance would have marked the Tot Mom's first public words following her first degree murder charge acquittal. Original reports detailed that the show presented the offer to Anthony's legal team on Friday morning, an offer that would then be taken to Anthony and her family -- who supposedly had to appear on the show with her in order for the deal to go through.

"The offer was made to Casey's defense team Friday," a now-incorrect source told Star magazine. "They are interested. The should would get huge ratings. The family will be presented with the offer shortly."

Strippers, Fights and Audience Flashing on 'Jerry Springer' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 1st 2011 6:31PM
Slap fight on 'Jerry Springer'Warning: This video is not safe for work, unless you actually work on 'Jerry Springer' (weekdays, syndicated). It involves a man cheating on his girlfriend when he's stoned, strippers, fights, women making out with women, and random audience members flashing the camera. But then, you probably assumed all of that when you saw the name "Springer."

The basic story: A woman confronts her boyfriend about his infidelity with both her best friend and strippers, and he defends himself by saying, "Yeah, I love you, but you know I make stupid decisions when I'm stoned." The strippers then confront the crying girlfriend and say, "Just because we're strippers does not make us whores," offending both subject/predicate and moral decency.

The strippers did a pretty good job showing they're upstanding citizens by pole-dancing and making out with each other for the camera. Not to be outdone, two female audience members asked where the strippers worked and flashed for a sort of impromptu audition.

All of that in one clip, a sort of 'Springer' CliffsNotes. Now you're officially ready for the weekend.

A Woman Headbutts Another in the Stomach Over a Man on 'Jerry Springer' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 21st 2010 6:45AM
'Jerry Springer'Sometimes watching an episode of 'Jerry Springer' (Weekdays, Syndicated) is a lot like watching an episode of 'Jersey Shore.' Maybe that solves the mystery of where Springer finds his guests.

Today, he had on a couple of young women who apparently were fighting over the same man. Paloma came out second, and she did the crowd's favorite thing, immediately tackling the first woman and trying to beat her down. It would only be the first time she would attack.

Apparently, the first woman has a nasty habit of sleeping around with married men, and Paloma is involved with her latest conquest. And -- surprise, surprise -- the man had promised he would leave Paloma for this other girl. Only Paloma revealed they're still together, just before headbutting the girl in the stomach.

'The Jerry Springer Show': The 20 Wildest Moments From 20 Years

by Kim Potts, posted Oct 27th 2010 2:10PM
Jerry Springer
TV Guide voted it the "Worst TV Show Ever." The show's own tagline was once, "An hour of your life you'll never get back." Whatever description you want to slap on 'The Jerry Springer Show,' you can't deny that the guy, and the scummy, scummy show, has longevity. And, if we're all being honest, we have to admit we've chuckled at an episode or two.

Today's 'Springer Takes Times Square' installment (check local listings for time and channel) of the daytime series finds Jerry -- and a round-up of celebs that includes Kathy Griffin, Perez Hilton, Maury Povich, the women of 'The View' and Rachael Ray -- celebrating 20 years on the air ... 20 freakin' years.

On the Scene: 'America's Got Talent' Names 5 Final Finalists

by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 2nd 2010 8:03AM
The last five acts have been chosen as the finalists in 'America's Got Talent.' They include the physics-defying Fighting Gravity, magician Michael Grasso, stunt bicyclist Jeremy Vanshoonhoven and judges' favorite Jackie Evancho, the pint-sized opera singer.

Studio One Young Beast Society was selected as the last finalist by the judges over singer Alice Tan Ridley. Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne voted for the young dance group first making judge Howie Mandel's selection a moot one.

"I am so thrilled," Mandel told TV Squad after taping. "I love not being part of that decision. I don't want to be responsible for sending anyone home. Tonight, I got to sit back and be like the audience. At this point in the competition, all the talent is worthy of going through." (Mandel says he'll save what his choice would have been for his memoir.)

"There was no shadow of doubt in my mind," Osbourne said as to why she picked the dance troupe. "Alice has a really good fan base. She's popular. Her life will change for the better."

Jerry Springer And Sean Hannity Face Off Over Obama (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Aug 27th 2010 2:30PM
Sometimes people forget that before dumbing down television forever, Jerry Springer was the mayor of Cincinnati. We're also reminded -- every time a political bloviater like Sean Hannity does his thing -- how similar the cable news shout-shows are to the kind of daytime yell-fests that Springer revolutionized.

All of which is to say we can't imagine two men more equally qualified to debate politics than Hannity and Springer.

Jerry Springer Doesn't Like His Show and Thinks He's Going to Hell (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 26th 2010 4:39AM
Jerry Springer Doesn't Like His Show and Thinks He's Going to Hell"Trash TV" host Jerry Springer appeared on 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!). While speaking with Chelsea Handler, he discussed the 20th anniversary of 'The Jerry Springer Show.' However, Jerry seems to have mixed feelings about his own program, at best.

"Congratulations on twenty years," Chelsea said to him. "That's a really long time."

But this was Jerry's response: "I'm going to Hell." Yes, Jerry Springer is not actually a big fan of the 'The Jerry Springer Show.' "There's no excuse for it, but yeah; it stays on the air," he said.

Jerry Springer Is Shocked That Pimps Have Mothers (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Jul 15th 2010 8:50PM
Jerry Springer Is Shocked That Pimps Have MothersOn the latest episode of 'The Jerry Springer Show' (weekdays, syndicated), host Jerry Springer must deal with a pimp, his hooker, and the hooker's boyfriend. The boyfriend wants the young lady to stop being a hooker, which leads to some conflict with her pimp. Naturally, trouble is the result.

But the most fascinating part of the show is Jerry's extended conversation with the pimp, whose name is "Rich Boy." Jerry seems intrigued by the whole concept of pimping, and he asks Rich Boy lots of questions, including whether hookers get "a good pension plan."

A little later on, Jerry surprises Rich Boy by having his mother come on the show. "Oh, Lord," Rich Boy says. " ... That's my momma." And Jerry seems startled by even this mundane fact.

"Pimps have moms?!" Jerry says to Rich Boy. Uh, yes, Jerry. They do. Pimps don't just spring up fully-formed from the ground or anything. Even pimps have mothers; everyone has to come from somewhere.
