'Community' May Be Just a Figment of Joel McHale's Imagination (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 12:00AM
'Community' cast - 'The Soup'With 'Community' airing its final scheduled episode this week (Save Greendale!), the cast stopped by to visit Joel McHale on 'The Soup' (Wed., 10PM ET on E!) with some startling news. When McHale asked why Chevy Chase wasn't with them, Ken Jeong told him, "There is no Chevy. He's a figment of your imagination."

Eventually, after Adam Scott and Nick Kroll joined them on set, it was revealed that not only were the pair of them also figments of his imagination, but so was the entire cast. Mankini explained: "This is just a delusion you created so you wouldn't have to face the face that you only work at E!"

Alison Brie chimed in, "If 'Community' were real, don't you think you would have seen a commercial for it on NBC?"

'Community' Sneak Peek: Greendale's Most Famous Alum, Luis Guzman, Stops By

by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 17th 2011 5:05PM
Luis Guzman on 'Community'If you're a hardcore 'Community' fan, then you've probably already goatee'd yourself on social media sites in support of the show. You also probably know that Greendale's most famous alum is stopping by tonight (Thurs., Nov. 17, 8PM ET on NBC).

In 'Documentary Filmmaking: Redux,' Dean Pelton directs the gang in a new commercial for Greendale, which also features fan-favorite students like Magnitude (Pop pop!), Fat Neil, Starburns and Leonard. Also stopping by: the most famous former Human Being of all, actor Luis Guzman, who, as we know, also happens to be immortalized with a statue on campus.

And just like last season's documentary episode, Abed takes over a bit, filming the filming of the commercial for his own archives.

I caught up with the 'Community' cast on set to talk about the Real Luis Guzman vs. Statue Luis Guzman -- here's what stars Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Donald Glover and Gillian Jacobs had to say about "The Guz."

'Sexiest Man Alive 2011': Which TV Stars Made the Cut?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 17th 2011 6:05AM
Bradley Cooper, People's 'Sexiest Man Alive 2011'Bradley Cooper's been celebrating being named as 'People' magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive 2011.' After saying his first thought on hearing the news was, "My mother is going to be so happy," the buff 'Hangover' star joked "I'm waiting for Dax Shepard to come out, and that it's an episode of 'Punk'd.'"

Cooper added: "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this. ... I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying."

So which TV stars have been deemed hot enough to join Cooper on the list? Well, there are some conventional hotties like 'Luther' star Idris Elba, 'Community's Joel McHale and 'Game of Thrones' glowering Horse Lord Jason Momoa, but there are also a few guys who are, well, perhaps less obviously hot in the conventional sense.

Craig Ferguson Keeps Mocking Joel McHale on 'The Late Late Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 6th 2011 6:45AM
Joel McHale, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'Joel McHale couldn't catch a break on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). McHale may be the king of snark over on 'The Soup,' but he's working off a script over there. Craig Ferguson works off the cuff, and sometimes it just comes at you too fast to react.

Ferguson slammed McHale's broadcast network NBC, and even interrupts McHale's story about his experience at Wimbledon to dig into him some more. McHale said of Wimbledon, "I didn't realize what happens there."

At that point, Ferguson very slowly explained, "One hits the ball over the net and somebody hits the ball back. It's not the most complicated sport in the world."

Emmys Opening Musical Number: Did Jane Lynch or Jimmy Fallon Do It Better? (VIDEO)

by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 18th 2011 9:05PM
Jane Lynch Emmys openerJane Lynch kicked off the 2011 Emmy Awards with a musical number filled with celebrity cameos (Leonard Nimoy!), which, coincidentally, is how Jimmy Fallon kicked off the 2010 ceremony.

So, how did the two compare?

Well, Fallon went big with a 'Glee' tribute and Bruce Springsteen cover, while Lynch took the solo route with an original number about the magic of television and how everyone on TV lives in the same building.

Both recruited a ton of celebs to help out, but Fallon had the stars sing along with him while Lynch dropped into different show sets. Both included a requisite 'Dancing With the Stars' dig, though.

Who nabbed the bigger stars?

Lonely IslandLonely Island will put its stamp on the Emmys.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Andy Samberg and his group Lonely Island, Maya Rudolph and Ed Helms will perform a musical medley during the 63rd annual ceremony.

Rudolph stars in NBC's new comedy 'Up All Night' -- her character sings! -- and Ed Helms' 'The Office' character is known for busting out into song at the drop of a hat. Lonely Island had three songs up for Emmys -- including '3-Way (The Golden Rule)' -- but lost out to Justin Timberlake's 'Saturday Night Live' monologue.

EXCLUSIVE 'Community' Season 2 Behind the Scenes Clip & DVD Giveaway

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 6th 2011 10:00AM
'Community''s Yvette Nicole BrownWe love Shirley on 'Community' almost as much as we love Yvette Nicole Brown, so this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from the Season 2 DVD (out today) is a real gem.

Creator Dan Harmon sat down with Brown -- in her full Father Guido Sarducci get-up from their last paintball duel, naturally -- to pat himself on the back for something he believes he achieved this year. "I fully and completely captured the 'Black Woman Experience' with your character this year," Harmon said straight-faced, to which Brown appropriately let out one of her fabulous signature laughs.

The clip also shows Harmon and Joel McHale reenacting a scene between Shirley and Britta (Gillian Jacobs), horrible imitations and all, before really diving into what's important: Season 3.

So what does Brown want to see happen for Shirley this season (premieres Thurs., Sept. 22, 8PM ET on NBC)? Note: We wholeheartedly support all her ideas!

Now for the fun part: Watch the video and tell us what YOU want to see happen in Season 3 in the comments. We'll select one lucky winner at random to receive the 'Community' Season 2 DVD.

Jessica Chastain Talks About 'The Help,' and 'The Soup' on 'Good Day New York' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 22nd 2011 4:15PM
Jessica Chastain and her character from 'The Help' on 'Good Day New York'Jessica Chastain had a lot to say about her unexpected box office smash, 'The Help,' on 'Good Day New York' (weekdays, 9AM ET on Fox), but she was also curious about host Greg Kelly's relationship with 'The Soup.' Joel McHale has periodically lambasted Kelly on that show.

Chastain said she was a big fan of the book 'The Help,' and thought the film would do well. But she wasn't as big a fan as her grandmother. "Actually my grandmother is probably the biggest fan of the book, and, so yeah," she said. "I felt that if she brought all of her friends that we were going to be a big success." Grandmom was a little suspicious of her granddaughter being cast as Celia, but she got over it when Chastain brought her to the premiere.

Chastain said she was also a fan of 'The Soup.' Kelly thanked her but said it was humiliating to appear on the show. She said she'd be excited to see Kelly and McHale debate, and Kelly said there will be a response to McHale's teasing. "I can't tell you anything else, but we've got a counter-attack in the works," he said. If it takes that long for a witty counter-attack, 'Good Day New York' may be better off letting it go.

Comic-Con Q&A: The 'Community' Cast Gives Scoop on Season 3 (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Jul 23rd 2011 8:30PM
CommunityWe know the 'Community' gang will be taking biology in Season 3 (premieres Thurs., Sept 22, 8PM ET on NBC), and news broke this morning that Michael K. Williams (a.k.a. Omar from 'The Wire') will be popping by to play their new professor.

What we haven't heard yet? "Me, Annie and Abed move in together," Donald Glover spilled. " I hope I'm allowed to say that." Creator Dan Harmon said it was more of a possibility for Annie to move in, but did confirm that Troy and Abed will be living together this season: "They definitely are living together, Ernie and Bert-style, from the beginning of the season." What does Danny Pudi think about that? "I think our room will be a blanket fort."

Then there's Dean Pelton (a.k.a. Jim Rash) who's been bumped up to series regular -- so, obviously, expect plenty more awesome costumes this year. "I think I have officially become just a doll for the writers to imagine what else my body should be put in," Rash laughed. "They saw my legs and they were like, 'Oh man, we gotta get more of that on TV.'"

We caught up with Harmon, Glover, Pudi, Rash and stars Joel McHale, Yvette Nicole Brown, Gillian Jacobs and Ken Jeong on the Comic-Con red carpet to find out a little more about the new season. (And, while Alison Brie wasn't there, Annie's Boobs was, shilling the Season 2 DVD.)

Watch the video to see who has a secret, who wants to learn more at Greendale, who's taking a position of authority and who's losing an arm. (Kidding about one of those ... we think.)

'Cougar Town' Stars Pop Up on 'Community' -- Will the Character Crossovers Go Both Ways?

by Alex Moaba, posted May 7th 2011 1:18PM
NBC has released a picture from next week's 'Community' season finale (paintball part deux, part deux) that appears to confirm rumblings we've been hearing that a multi-network 'Community'-'Cougar Town' crossover episode is in the works. This development marks an awesome next step in the referential love-fest that's been going on between the two shows for well over a year.

What's the evidence? Check out 'Cougar Town' actors Dan Byrd and Busy Philipps standing behind 'Community' actors Donald Glover, Danny Pudi and Alison Brie in the background of this photo.

Pretty cool, right? The two shows have been engaged in a friendly ping-pong game of mutual admiration lately, and now it's really starting to get fun.

'Community' Cast Talks About Josh Holloway, Crazy Costumes & Paintball (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted May 2nd 2011 9:00AM
By now we've all heard a lot about 'Community''s big two-part paintball season finale (part one airs Thurs., May 5, 8PM ET on NBC; part two airs May 12), but what do we really know?

Well, Josh Holloway is guest starring as the mysterious Black Rider, and his old pal Chevy Chase was happy to have him and his dimples on set. Not surprisingly, everyone admits to having a massive crush on Holloway: "I was flirting with him. I don't care," Donald Glover said; "Dreamy with a capital "D," Joel McHale agreed.

Also, there's a Sergio Leone western theme for the first part, but the costumes and theme change a bit for part two, welcoming a 'Star Wars' theme -- sort of. There are stormtroopers running around and Danny Pudi's Abed looks a lot like Han Solo when he takes off his serape, but Yvette Nicole Brown's Shirley is dressed as Father Guido Sarducci.

Yep, so it'll be about as random as 'Community' fans have come to expect from the show.

'Community' Stars Joel McHale & Gillian Jacobs On Shirley's Baby, the Finale & More

by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 28th 2011 9:00AM
Joel McHale & Gillian Jacobs, 'Community''Community' threw fans a curveball last week with the reveal that Jeff (Joel McHale) and Britta (Gillian Jacobs) had been secretly hooking up again, and this time it went on for a while.

Thanks to the amazingly imaginative flashback theme of the episode, we even got to see bits and pieces of their relationship -- which of course, is already off again since it's not nearly as fun messing around when people know about it.

I caught up with McHale and Jacobs to hear about this week's big episode (Thurs., April 28, 8PM ET on NBC), titled 'Applied Anthropology & Culinary Arts,' which features the birth of Shirley's baby, finally solving the who's-the-daddy mystery.

But, of course, it doesn't happen without a few snags: "We are kind of trapped there for reasons which we're not going to tell you right here right now," McHale teased. Could Shirley's baby actually be born in the same spot where Betty White almost killed Jeff Winger? I love this show.

We also dished about Britta being "a huge slut," a couple of Christopher Nolan movies, the big two-part paintball finale and "dreamy" guest star Josh Holloway. Keep reading for more ...

Plotting? Scheming? Laughing maniacally to the tune of an ominous new personal theme song?

Hardly. In an exclusive photo from this week's all-new 'Community,' Pierce appears to be ditching his tough exterior and actually taking some sound advice. But what the advice is about and who's doling it out may shock you.

'Independent Spirit Awards': Rudd Gropes Mendes, 'Banksy' Appears, Portman Wins (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Feb 28th 2011 4:30AM
Paul Rudd, Eva Mendes on 'Independent Spirit Awards'Before Anne Hathaway and James Franco were "Inceptioned" by Alec Baldwin at the Academy Awards, another awards-show host found himself in a parody of a Best Feature nominee. About to take the stage to host the 2011 'Film Independent Spirit Awards' (Sat., 10PM ET on IFC), Joel McHale caught his arm between a giant rock and his makeup table. Banksy to the rescue! But the mystery artist only sprayed Bart Simpson graffiti on the rock, and then revealed himself to be... Alex Trebek?

Later in the proceedings, Eva Mendes said she and Paul Rudd intended to do a funny bit that involved groping, but the show was running behind schedule. Rudd fondled Mendes' breast anyway. And as Mendes announced the Best Screenplay winner, Rosario Dawson grabbed Rudd's crotch. What a, uh, touching moment. Also in the clip, watch Natalie Portman's acceptance speech for her Best Female Lead win.
