'Saturday Night Live' - 'Gabourey Sidibe/MGMT' Recap
by Annie Wu, posted Apr 25th 2010 3:00PM
(S35E20) Like most of the public, I only knew Gabourey Sidibe from 'Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire' (Okay, seriously, if we're gonna do that, can we put it on the end of every movie adaptation of a novel? 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, based on the novel 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' by JK Rowling). It was one of those movies that I wasn't sure if I wanted to even watch because just looking at Sidibe in the trailers made me uncomfortable.
'Law & Order' Denied Record-Breaking 21st Season?
by Kim Potts, posted Mar 31st 2010 9:15AM
C'mon, NBC and TNT: Can't you give viewers at least one more season of hearing that familiar "doink! doink!" theme emanating from our TV screens?A 2010-2011 renewal for NBC's 'Law & Order,' a show so popular that it has sparked three spin-off series, would push the legal drama to an astounding 21st season, and make it the longest-running drama series ever.
But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, there's a big glitch standing in its way: NBC may not re-up the series if the network's 'L&O' cable partner, TNT, doesn't also give a renewal the thumbs up.
Comedy Central Presents ... some familiar TV faces - VIDEO
by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 3rd 2009 11:03AM
If you tune in to the premiere of the new Comedy Central Presents... stand-up shows tonight, you'll see a couple of familiar faces in John Mulaney (11PM) and Kristen Schaal (11:30PM). Schaal might be the easier face to place - her role as Mel, the lone groupie on Flight of the Conchords expanded this season, to the point where Bret and Jemaine were actually living at her apartment for a while. Mulaney has done more work behinds the scenes writing for Saturday Night Live (he's been on camera once or twice, in the fine tradition of writers like Conan O'Brien). But he's also been on shows like Important Things with Demetri Martin and Best Week Ever.
Both are worth catching for their stand-up acts. Schaal brings some of the quirkiness of her Conchords character, without the creepiness. She's got a great, vivid imagination, which is easy to see in this clip about her dreaming of George Washington.
