Jonathan Jackson Quits 'General Hospital': Report

by Crystal Bell, posted Nov 7th 2011 6:20PM
jonathan jackson leaving general hospital Sad news for 'General Hospital' fans: Four-time Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson may be leaving Port Charles for good, according to a report by TV Guide. The magazine reports that Jackson will shoot his final scenes as Lucky Spencer on November 17, which means Lucky will say his final goodbyes in mid-to-late December.

TV Guide quotes sources who say that Jackson was exhausted from his busy work schedule and the heavy subject matter his character endures, including the death of Lucky's son and his battle with drug addiction. Jackson reportedly met with the 'General Hospital' execs to try and get them to lighten his load, but they weren't able to reach an agreement.

The magazine is also reporting that Jackson tried to rekindle a romance for Lucky with Liz (Rebecca Herbst), but he struck out there as well. It looks like there's no room for happiness in Port Charles.

The Daytime Emmys Report: 'Dr. Oz' and 'The Bold and the Beautiful' Score Big

by AOL TV Staff, posted Jun 20th 2011 10:05AM
Jonathan Jackson, Daytime EmmyThere's not much to celebrate about daytime TV these days with 'All My Children,' 'Oprah' and Regis Philbin going away, but don't tell that to the Daytime Emmys. The annual awards broadcast threw on quite a party last night on CBS.

Hosted by Wayne Brady ('Let's Make a Deal'), the show entertained with musical numbers (from Brady and Marie Osmond), had touching tributes to Oprah Winfrey, Susan Lucci and Lifetime Achievement Recipients Pat Sajack ('Wheel of Fortune') and Alex Trebek ('Jeopardy') and, if you're a soap fan, you saw some surprising wins including a tie for the directors of 'The Bold and the Beautiful' and 'The Young and the Restless.'

Read on to get the scoop from your winners and see how why the Father's Day-win was especially poignant for one trophy recipient.

Will Jake Die on 'General Hospital'? His TV Dad, Lucky, Weighs In ...

by Michael Maloney, posted Mar 19th 2011 5:00PM
Jonathan Jackson, 'General Hospital' 'General Hospital' fans who found the show's fatal bus crash a little anti-climatic earlier this year (none of the regulars died in it) are about to learn that they should be careful what they wish for.

Lucky and Elizabath's son, Jake (the biological child of Jason and Elizabeth), is hovering between life and death after being hit by a car, and the prognosis isn't good.

If Jake perishes, the ramifications promise to domino throughout the lives of several characters. Losing their biological child may nail the lid shut on any kind of reunion between Jason and Liz. Jake's final gift could be to provide a kidney or two to baby Josslyn, Jax and Carly's daughter, who's also been admitted to General Hospital.

This crisis could also lead to a reconciliaton between Lucky and Elizabeth -- especially if it comes out that Liz's son, Aiden (whom many believe to be fathered by Lucky's half-brother Nikolas), is actually Lucky's son.

This painful ordeal harkens back to a similar 'GH' storyline in the '90s when little B.J. was declared brain dead after a bus accident and her heart was transplanted into her cousin Maxie.

Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) weighs in on the impending tragedy and what it means for everyone involved ...

Will Lucky Trade Brenda for Siobhan on 'General Hospital'?

by Michael Maloney, posted Nov 8th 2010 5:40PM
Jonathan Jackson as LuckyLucky's in a bind on 'General Hospital.'

Luke and Laura's son, who's been masquerading as Irishman Ronan O'Reilly (and doing a fine Irish accent in the process), attempts to pull a fast one on the mysterious Balkan Tue., Nov. 9 when he attempts to "exchange" Brenda for kidnapped ladylove Siobhan. With the aid of snipers Jason and Dante, Lucky hopes to save both women.

The action-filled showdown involves gunfire and fight scenes. While soaps are taped at a rapid pace today, the production team at 'GH' carefully rehearsed the climatic moment with the actors playing Lucky, Brenda, Siobhan and the bad guys.

"In terms of our regular acting scenes we move really, really fast," Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) told TV Squad. "But for the stunts they want to make sure everyone's safe and all the precautions are in place."

Laura Wright is staying with General Hospital

by Allison Waldman, posted Nov 9th 2009 9:02AM
laura_wright_general_hospitalThere's a lot to be happy about if you're a fan of General Hospital. There's been some very good news from the soap. Things like James Franco's guest role and the return of the original Lucky, Jonathan Jackson. And Steve Burton has committed to playing Jason for a while longer.

And now comes some news that's downright reassuring. Laura Wright has re-signed a four year deal with GH. She Twittered the news to her fans. Four years!

To me, this means that not only can we count on the character of Carly being around for a long time to come -- and played by the same actress who has the most tenure in the part -- but also that GH will likely be around for four more years. Oh, sure, there's nothing guaranteed, but I'm an optimist and I choose to see this as a positive sign.

Jonathan Jackson and Anthony Geary on Lucky's Return and a Potential Spencer Family Reunion

by Michael Maloney, posted Nov 5th 2009 11:00AM
Jonathan Jackson and Anthony GearyAfter a 10-year absence, Jonathan Jackson has reclaimed the role of Lucky Spencer, son of legendary 'General Hospital' duo Luke (Anthony Geary) and Laura (Genie Francis).

Jackson -- who won three Daytime Emmys for his performance -- originated the role in 1993, and remained on the show for nearly six years before leaving to pursue other interests (among them roles in 'Tuck Everlasting,' 'Insomnia' and TV's 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles').

AOL TV recently spoke with Jackson and Geary about Lucky's return, the chances of a Lucky-Liz reunion and whether Laura will return to Port Charles as well.

What's Hot on SlashControl: Jonathan Jackson's return to General Hospital

by Jane Boursaw, posted Oct 28th 2009 1:02PM
Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer on General HospitalI used to be a devoted fan of General Hospital, and some of my favorite episodes involved Luke and Laura, and later, their son, Lucky. In fact, now that I think about it, I started to stray from the show about the time that Jonathan Jackson, who played the first Lucky, left the show in 1999.

The other actors who played Lucky -- Jacob Young and Greg Vaughan -- did a fine job, but I so associated the role with Jackson that it was impossible for me to accept anyone else as Lucky.

As luck would have it, I just happened to flip on One Life to Live yesterday and saw a promo for Jonathan Jackson coming back to General Hospital as Lucky. What a stroke of "luck" for me!

Lucky's back ... Jonathan Jackson's terrific return to General Hospital

Tuesday was Jonathan Jackson's first day back on General Hospital in the role of Lucky Spencer. It's a role he originated (as a youngster), coming onto the show in 1993 when Luke and Laura -- Anthony Geary and Genie Francis -- made their much-heralded return. Jonathan stayed on General Hospital till 1999, winning three Daytime Emmys in his tenure, and basically stamped the character as his own. That's why when he decided to return now, it's been a big deal.

Do you want to see Jonathan Jackson back as Kyle Reese?

by Mike Moody, posted Apr 17th 2009 12:03PM
Jonathan Jackson Kyle Reese The Sarah Connor ChroniclesYeah, I know you thought The Sarah Connor Chronicles was canceled, but we've yet to hear anything official from Fox concerning the show's future. Series writer Ashley Edward Miller and creator Josh Friedman used Twitter this week to debunk Michael Ausiello's claim that the show is toast, and star Brian Austin Green seems hopeful about a third season happening.

I love the show, but like I said in my review of last week's season finale, the chances of a third season are slim to none. Even the high DVR ratings might not save it. But Fox hasn't terminated TSCC yet, and there's still a chance we might get to see that third season featuring (SPOILER HERE!) John Connor living in the post-Judgement Day future.

If a third season does happen, there's a good chance we'll see a lot more of Jonathan Jackson as John Connor's dad, Kyle Reese.

Ten actors who helped make General Hospital shine

by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 20th 2008 12:02PM
GH logoIn honor of General Hospital's 45th year on the air, AOL came up with a terrific photo trivia quiz which was like a trip down memory lane for longtime fans like me. Seeing all those familiar faces made me realize that through the years there have been some wonderful actors who've called Port Charles home. Here's ten that were memorable and, in my opinion, let an indelible mark on General Hospital.

Amber Tamblyn (1995-2001)
When the producers and writers of GH realized the quality of an actress they had with Amber Tamblyn, they took this 12 year old girl and made her an important part of the Quartermaines, a core family. She appeared as Emily Bowen, the daughter of Page, a woman Monica befriended while they were undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. When Page died, Monica and Alan adopted Emily and she became part of the family, and eventually the conscience of the squabbling, occasionally unscrupulous clan (along with Lila). Amber grew up on GH, going through growth spurts and the emotions of the awkward years. She never failed to convey a reality and truth in her acting. She was a shooting star, passing through GH on the way to bigger things, like Joan of Arcadia.
