Fox Midseason Series 'Alcatraz' Delays Production for Reshoots
by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 3rd 2011 8:00AM
High-concept shows are so high-maintenance; barely a week after news emerged that NBC was halting production on its cerebral new drama 'Awake' for some creative fine-tuning, Deadline is reporting that Fox's 'Alcatraz' has followed suit. The mystery drama, produced by J.J. Abrams, will pause production on new episodes to do reshoots for the first seven already completed, with plans to roll straight into filming the final six episodes once the reshoots are done.
But does this mean that the midseason thriller is in trouble?
Emmys Opening Musical Number: Did Jane Lynch or Jimmy Fallon Do It Better? (VIDEO)
by Jean Bentley, posted Sep 18th 2011 9:05PM
Jane Lynch kicked off the 2011 Emmy Awards with a musical number filled with celebrity cameos (Leonard Nimoy!), which, coincidentally, is how Jimmy Fallon kicked off the 2010 ceremony. So, how did the two compare?
Well, Fallon went big with a 'Glee' tribute and Bruce Springsteen cover, while Lynch took the solo route with an original number about the magic of television and how everyone on TV lives in the same building.
Both recruited a ton of celebs to help out, but Fallon had the stars sing along with him while Lynch dropped into different show sets. Both included a requisite 'Dancing With the Stars' dig, though.
Who nabbed the bigger stars?
Fall TV Critics Roundtable: Stars We're Excited to See (VIDEO)
by Maggie Furlong, posted Aug 25th 2011 12:00PM
Zooey! Jorge and Michael! Sarah Michelle (with or without her magical crabs)! Welcome to Part 4 of our critics roundtable debate, all about the stars we're most excited to see on our TVs this year.
Here's a little backstory: during the recent Television Critics Association (TCA) press tour, I gathered a group of my fellow critics and turned on the cameras while we talked all about the best and worst of fall TV, and this one has the most laughs.
I've split our chat into five insightful videos -- best new comedy, best new drama, worst new show and star we're happiest to see on TV (watch all four below), and returning show we're most excited for (posting Friday) -- so check back tomorrow for the last installment.
For now, join me and HitFix.com's Alan Sepinwall, Melanie McFarland from IMDb TV, Damian Holbrook of TV Guide Magazine and AOL TV's own Mo Ryan to find out which stars we're most excited to see on TV.
And watch until the very end for a hilarious (to us, at least) crabby outtake ... anyone else ever sat through 'Simply Irresistible'?

'Mr. Sunshine' Moment: Ben Meets His Maintenance Guy ... and He Looks Like Hurley
by Joel Keller, posted Feb 10th 2011 6:15AM
There were a lot of interesting scenes that I could have chosen from tonight's pilot for 'Mr. Sunshine.' Not that any of them were particularly funny, but they were at least interesting. But I chose this scene, from the first five minutes of the show, because it points out two things that I hope aren't a trend: 1) it's a gratuituous attention-getting cameo, and 2) it replaced a scene that was pretty bad, but didn't improve on it all that much.In the scene, Ben (Matthew Perry), an arena manager who cares about no one but himself, finds out the ice from the previous night's hockey game hasn't melted yet. So he turns to his maintenance manager, a guy named Bob (Jorge Garcia), to find out what's wrong. Only, he has no idea that the guy's name is Bob, so he fumbles with names like Bob, Bobbinson, and Bobbert, and all Bob does is say yes. Why? Because that's what Ben has told him to do, even when he asks non yes or no questions.
Casting News: Jorge Garcia and J.J. Abrams Reunite for 'Alcatraz,' Olympia Dukakis on 'Law & Order: SVU' and More
by Jean Bentley, posted Nov 22nd 2010 1:35PM
Jorge Garcia returns to TV tonight for his guest spot on 'How I Met Your Mother''s 'Blitzgiving' episode, but if all goes according to plan, he'll be back on a regular basis in the fall.According to a report from Deadline Hollywood, Garcia has been cast as the first series regular in J.J. Abrams' new Alcatraz series. Garcia will team up with his former 'Lost' producer as Dr. Diego Soto, an Alcatraz expert brought in to help the FBI investigate the reappearance of a "group of missing Alcatraz prisoners and guards who reappear in the present day."
Much like 'Lost,' Garcia is the first person cast on the new show.
In other casting news ...
• Former 'Roswell' actress Majandra Delfino will star in the new ABC Family pilot 'The State of Georgia.' She'll play the science nerd best friend of "curvy performer" Raven Symone. [Deadline]
• Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis is dropping by 'Law & Order: SVU' for a guest spot as a lawyer. The episode will air Jan. 5, and also features Drea de Matteo and Shohreh Aghdashloo. [TV Guide]
'How I Met Your Mother' Celebrates Blitzgiving (VIDEO)
by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 17th 2010 1:45PM
The 'How I Met Your Mother' gang has survived some pretty horrific holidays together -- including the epic 'Slapsgiving' episode heard round the world -- but this year's Thanksgiving is particularly jinxed.
Guest star Jorge Garcia (you might remember him from a little show called 'Lost') plays the Blitz, Ted (Josh Radnor) and Marshall's (Jason Segel) old college pal who seems to be a bit cursed when it comes to timing. The Blitz comes back into their lives, and his curse gets mysteriously passed on, rendering Turkey Day a bit of a mess.

I caught up with Garcia, Radnor, Segel, Cobie Smulders and guest star Jennifer Morrison -- who ends up hanging out with all of Ted's pals and even hosting them for the holiday -- to find out what's in store for 'Blitzgiving' (Mon., Nov. 22, 8PM ET on CBS). Skateboarding dogs and Robin in KISS makeup anyone? Yes please!

The Show Girl Catches Up With Jorge Garcia, 'Storm Chasers' & Tracy Morgan (VIDEO)
by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 12th 2010 10:50PM
It's no secret: I miss 'Lost.' A lot. So when I heard star Jorge Garcia would be visiting 'How I Met Your Mother,' I knew I had to get my fix. I hit the set to find out what he's up to with the 'HIMYM' gang, what his character has in common with Hurley and the question he's asked most often since 'Lost' ended.I also catch up with the TVN Team from 'Storm Chasers' to get up close and personal with The Dominator, their indestructible beast of a car. That thing has some insane added features! If you're a fan, sound off in the comments for a chance to win Reed Timmer's new book 'Into the Storm.'
Then I chat with Tracy Morgan about his HBO stand-up special 'Tracy Morgan: Black and Blue.' His hilarious, subject-hopping, bleep-filled tirades taught me one thing: don't ever ask him if he's just like his '30 Rock' character Tracy Jordan.

No More Mr. Clucks for 'Lost' Alum Jorge Garcia
by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 5th 2010 3:50PM
Three things I love collided on Thursday: the set of 'How I Met Your Mother,' Bay Cities sandwiches and 'Lost' alum Jorge Garcia.Jorge is guest starring on 'HIMYM''s big Thanksgiving episode in a few weeks -- titled 'Blitzgiving' after his unlucky character Blitz -- and was showing off his big grin and comedic chops that always brought much-needed levity to the island drama on 'Lost.'
But something was different ... and after a quick chat with the happy-go-lucky star, he admitted he's now shunned something big from his 'Lost' past and Hurley's life: meat.
"I've been a vegetarian for about four months now," Jorge admitted, after I commented on his meat-free caprese sandwich (my personal favorite from the Santa Monica, Calif., sandwich institution). That's right -- this means that the owner of Mr. Clucks wouldn't be caught dead chowing on fried chicken now.

That's right, Hatcher, the star of 'Desperate Housewives' and former Lois Lane on 'Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman,' will appear on 'Smallville' as Ella, Lois' (Erica Durance) mother.'Smallville' lore has established Lois' mom as dead, and that won't change. According to The Ausiello Files, Hatcher's Ella will appear in old videos Lois finds. Quite the casting coup for the final season of 'Smallville.'

Jorge Garcia On the "Tiring ... Wet ... Perilous" 'Lost' Finale & More (VIDEO)
by Maggie Furlong, posted May 10th 2010 9:00AM
How could you not love Jorge Garcia? Over the past six seasons on 'Lost,' he's made us laugh, cry and crave Dharma-brand ranch dressing as the Island's most resounding voice of reason. After last week's gut-wrenchingly good episode, Jorge gave me the dish on switching gears this week to tell a completely different story (Jacob and the Man in Black as kids!), Hurley taking charge again, his favorite 'Lost' couple, if we'll see more of Hurley and Libby before the end, who he thinks is really not safe on the Island and the big, wet, exhausting finale which made him "very satisfied."
He also refers to the off-Island "flashes" of memory as "waking up" ... several times. And then says something about wanting to "go to sleep now" in the finale. New timeline theory? Or just an interesting choice of words? Either way, it'll make Hurley fans love him even more.
EXCLUSIVE 'Lost' Collector's Vintage Prints of Final Six Candidates
by Maggie Furlong, posted Apr 28th 2010 3:30PM
There are only five hours remaining in one of the greatest TV sagas in history, and fan consumption of all things 'Lost' has reached an all-time high.
To feed the need -- because, believe me, we have it too -- ABC has given us the exclusive sneak peek at their new vintage portraits from the 'Lost' pilot gallery. Titled "The Candidate Collection," the retro images of the Island's remaining six candidates will be sold as 11"x14" custom prints on fine art, museum quality rag photo paper with deckled edges.
Besides being gorgeous shots of Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, Sayid, Jin and Sun, there will also be a hidden Easter egg in each print (in typical 'Lost' fashion), making these true collector's items.
Each print costs $49.99, or you can buy the complete collection of six for $249.99. Set your reminders now: The prints will go on sale Thursday, April 29 at 9AM PT at www.officialLostphotos.com ... and we don't expect them to last long.
Drumroll please ...

Guy Finds Call Sheet For 'Lost' Finale and Now It's Online
by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 23rd 2010 2:25PM
Needless to say, this post contains massive spoilers. So a guy was sitting in a Honolulu restaurant recently and saw a piece of paper that had the word 'Lost' on it. Turns out it's the studio call sheet for the series finale! What does he do? He sends it to Gawker, of course (see also iPhone, Apple's new). And it looks like it's the real thing because ABC contacted Gawker and they want the call sheet back.
What secrets does it hold? If you want to know more, continue after the jump. If you don't want to know more, click here for some great pasta recipes at Kitchen Daily!
