'Better With You' Series Premiere -- A Very Short Engagement (VIDEO)
The new sitcom 'Better With You' (Wed., 8:30PM ET on ABC) follows the lives of several very different couples. Maddie and Ben (Jennifer Finnigan and Josh Cooke) have been dating for nine years, but have not yet taken the "next step," and tied the knot. Meanwhile, Maddie's younger sister Mia (Joanna Garcia) has decided to marry Casey (Jake Lacy) -- a guy who she's only known for seven weeks. And on the premiere episode, Mia is forced to reveal the reason for the very rushed engagement.[Warning: Spoiler alert.]
While having dinner with their parents, Mia is compelled to spill the beans during an argument with her sister. "Call me old-fashioned," Maddie says, "but I think it's appropriate to apply a little thought before making huge life choices." Then, Maddie starts protesting Mia's decision. "Why in the world does she have to get married right now?!"
"Because she's pregnant!" replies her boyfriend Ben. Oh, okay. That makes sense then.

Shirley Manson signed to Sarah Connor Chronicles, other casting notes - VIDEO
Looky there. With just those seven little words The Sarah Connor Chronicles has become the show I'm most looking forward to next season. With music, there's nothing I like more than putting a little Garbage on the turntable. Because of that, over the years I've become just a little bit obsessed with Shirley Manson. And now comes word that the lovely and talented Miss Manson has been signed to the show.
Just that is enough to make me watch, but it gets even better. This isn't a musical guest like someone stopping by to play at P3 or the Montecito. Oh no, Shirley will join the cast in a regular role as Catherine Weaver, CEO of a high-tech company. One could certainly argue that it's stunt casting, or that they could find a more qualified actor to take on such a big role. But any crazy argument like that will fall on deaf ears here pal. It's Shirley Manson. That's all I need to know.
ABC and CBS reveal more pilot casting news
I mentioned the other day that Harold Perrineau had joined the CBS pilot Demons. They've now cast the main character, Gus, and the winner is Ron Eldard. If you were paying attention, you might have seen him in the short-lived Men Behaving Badly or Blind Justice. Otherwise, think of him as the paramedic with issues that was dating Carol early in the ER run. It's not the best piece of casting I've ever seen. Eldard has never proven that he can be the dramatic lead for a show, but stranger things have happened. Meanwhile, over at CBS, Hugh Jackman (Wolverine!) is producing something called Viva Laughlin. Lloyd Owen (Miss Potter) will star as a family man trying to open a casino in Laughlin, NV. Word is that Jackman will appear in the pilot and may have a recurring role on the series. Given just that bit of knowledge, I'm intrigued by the possibilities.
NBC to burn off Four Kings eps this summer
NBC must think we're desperate for television during the summer (OK, that might be true). The network is going to air all the remaining episodes of Four Kings as soon as May ratings are over. You may remember that NBC swiftly canceled Four Kings way back in March when everybody realized that it sucked (Sorry, Seth Green. I still heart you! Robot Chicken rocks!).The remaining six episodes begin airing on Thursday, May 25 at 8:30 pm. It looks as though they'll continue each Thursday night until the new America's Got Talent results show takes over the timeslot on July 13.
Four Kings: Chest, Mate
I was starting to fall in love with this show after the first episode. Like most relationships, early on
it had so much potential. I could really see us spending time together, getting to know each other every Thursday night
at 8:30. But like most relationships, this one has started to turn sour, and like some women, will ultimately
confuse you and make you sad until you are a bitter shell of the man you once used to be.
Um, where was I? Oh yeah: Four Kings. It's kinda lame now.
Seth Green talks up Four Kings
Seth Green just did some press for Four Kings,
which premieres on Thursday, January 5th. In this AOL interview, he
talks up the show a bit, saying all four guys have good chemistry and he's having fun. But, he's also realistic about
the uncertainty with new sitcoms. He's been through enough to understand that you never know if it's going to be the
next Cheers or the next bomb. Seth also talks briefly about Buffy alumni, and all of his other
projects including Robot Chicken and Family Guy. It's funny, because Seth's calm, "whatever,
dude" demeanor definitely comes across in the interview.TV Squad Hot Topics
