'Dallas' Lives Again: TNT Orders New Series

by Chris Harnick, posted Jul 8th 2011 1:15PM
'Dallas' reboot is a go! TNT has picked up the series.

"TNT has explored the possibility of an updated version of 'Dallas' for several years, but it wasn't until we read Cynthia Cidre's outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series," Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), said in a statement. "It is incredibly exciting to see both new and familiar characters in the hands of a dream cast under the guidance of the enormously talented Cidre and Mike Robin. We couldn't be more pleased with how 'Dallas' has come together."

The new series focuses on the children of the original Ewings -- J.R.'s son John Ross and Bobby and Pam's adopted son Christopher. Josh Henderson ('Desperate Housewives') plays John Ross, while Jesse Metcalfe stars as Christopher.

'Dallas,' 'Charlie's Angels' Remakes Update: Who'll Play Bobby's Son?

Jesse MetcalfeRight now, you could be forgiven for thinking you'd woken up and found yourself in the late 1970s, but it's okay, don't panic. It's just reboot-tastic time in the world of TV, and we've got some groovy updates on the new versions of 'Dallas' and 'Charlie's Angels.'

Last week we reported that original 'Dallas' stars Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray had signed on for the update, and now we hear that producers are close to casting the pivotal role of Bobby and Pam Ewing's son, Christopher.

According to TVLine.com it's a two-horse race between Jesse Metcalfe and newcomer Alex Russell.

Producers say that the new 'Dallas' will focus on the next generation of the Ewing dynasty as they squabble over power, money and women. Josh Henderson has already signed on to play Christopher's cousin John Ross, with whom he and Jordana Brewster's character, Elena, become entangled in a love triangle.

'Dallas' Reboot: Josh Henderson Signs Up, Plus Original Stars Hagman, Gray and Duffy

Josh HendersonMaybe in the end it will all turn out to have been nothing but a weird dream, but for now it looks like it's time to dust off those sequinned shoulder pads and get ready for The Oil Barons' Ball: The much-hyped 'Dallas' reboot is a "Go."

With new casting updates comes news that the rebooted 'Dallas' will contain some classic elements: Love triangles, betrayals, family clashes and, finally, Mr. J.R. Ewing himself.

According to deadline.com, 'Desperate Housewives' alum Josh Henderson has signed on to play J.R. and Su Ellen's son, John Ross. Producers say that the new drama will focus on the next generation of the Ewing dynasty as they squabble over power, money and women.

However, the old Southfork guard will still be scheming in the background: TNT has confirmed that the trio at the center of the original series, Larry Hagman (J.R.), Linda Gray (Su Ellen) and Patrick Duffy (Bobby) will all be returning.

90210: Make your predictions on who Sean really is! - VIDEO

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Nov 20th 2008 7:02PM
90210If you are like me, you started watching The CW's 90210 out of curiosity and nostalgia but ended up not being able to miss an episode because you wanted to know how evil Naomi could be. You wanted to know what happened to the old Beverly Hills, 90210 gang, thanks to Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty guesting on the spin off. And, let's admit it, you also wanted your weekly Rob Estes fix!

Now a regular 90210 viewer, I got interested in the Sean storyline. Sean is the son Harry didn't know he had and who was given up for adoption nearly 22 years ago by Tracy. Was "Sean" someone that was already on the show but under another name? (Early this season, people speculated that Ryan would turn out to be Harry's son.) If not, would the PI hired by Tracy find Sean? Who raised Sean all these years? Who had he become? All questions that were answered in this week's episode.

However, the ending of last Tuesday's episode raised a lot of new questions, the main one being: Is Sean, played by Josh Henderson, really Sean?
