Judge Judy Admits She's Made Mistakes (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 28th 2011 3:30PM
Judge Judy Sheinlin has been one of the highest-rated TV judges to ever sit behind the bench. She rules with an iron fist and revels in teaching lessons and shouting down unprepared witnesses. But on 'Live With Regis & Kelly,' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) Judge Judy showed her humble side, and admitted that while some may see her as an infallible matron of TV justice, she's made her fair share of courtroom mistakes.

"I know I have made mistakes over the years," she said. "Sometimes I've tried to take the information and came up with the wrong answer ... but I never came up with the wrong answer for lack of trying," Judge Judy said.

Judge Judy Sheindlin Reflects on 16 Seasons of TV Justice (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 7th 2011 1:15PM
Judge Judy Sheindlin on 'Today'When 'Judge Judy' first aired in 1996, Bill Clinton was still president and no one knew who Monica Lewinsky was. Judy Sheindlin's show has lasted a full decade longer than 'Lost,' seven more years than 'Seinfeld' and the original 'The Twilight Zone,' and five more than 'Married With Children.' Wednesday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) Judge Judy spoke with Matt Lauer about her approach to TV justice.

"I can make a little story in that nine or ten minutes that people can follow," Sheindlin said of the show. "They understand right, they understand wrong, they understand good guy, they understand bad guy." Some people, though, do not understand how to dress for court, which is what makes Sheindlin angrier than anything.

'Chelsea Lately' Panel Takes Jabs at Judge Judy's High Salary (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 28th 2011 6:00PM
Chelsea Handler on 'Judge Judy' on 'Chelsea Lately'Chelsea Handler used a New York Times article about Judge Judy Sheindlin's astronomical salary as a jumping off point for some laughs on 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!). According to the report, Judge Judy makes $45 million a year, a bafflingly gigantic figure to Handler and her roundtable of comedians Bobby Lee, Arden Myrin, and Chris Franjola.

Handler observed that Sheindlin's salary, "is more than Jay Leno and David Letterman make combined, which is hard to believe. But she only works five days a month, so she makes 865,000 dollars a day."

Will Casey Anthony Judge, Belvin Perry, Get His Own TV Show?

by PopEater Staff, posted Jul 6th 2011 4:45AM
Judge Judy and Judge Belvin Perry
The ink is barely dry on the jury's verdict, but already speculation's growing as to what happens next for the main players in the Casey Anthony trial. Many pundits agree that Judge Belvin Perry may have a second career waiting for him as a television judge. Could he be the next Judge Judy?

Fox news commentator Joey Jackson said, "I can certainly see him becoming the next big TV judge."

After months of court proceedings, on Tuesday, Perry confirmed the jury's verdict that Anthony was not guilty of first degree murder -- a verdict that visibly outraged the celebrity Twitter community. But Perry's shocking ruling, although an unpopular one, may only further catapult him into the celebrity judge world. Guilty or not guilty, Perry stuck to his guns throughout the trial, keeping attorneys in line and holding them accountable, dealing with even the craziest aspects of the case with an even temperament and being patient, yet rigid, in moving the case forward.

Got Swine Flu? What to Watch

by Stephanie Earp, posted Nov 3rd 2009 1:01AM

My apologies to the pig farmers, but let's be honest: it's one thing to call this H1N1 when it's a distant threat, but when it gets personal, swine is the operative word.

I've got it. It's unpleasant to admit it - like copping to smoking - but there's the truth. I've been sick for over a week, and if you or someone you know has been sick that long, chances are it's the swine flu. Sorry to break it to you. I know you're probably trying to pretend it's just a cold. I did that for the first four days.

Sick for a week! I haven't been down like this since I was kid. And usually, when I'm down, I'm out. I sleep like the dead, emerging only for a few prime-time can't-miss shows. But this swine flu is a festering little bug - I'm confused, cranky and highly contagious but not knocked out enough to sleep the day away. Which brings me to my thesis: daytime TV.

Bea Arthur also saved animals (as do her 'girls')

by Eliot Glazer, posted May 10th 2009 1:39PM
bea arthur peta animal rights activist petsThe late Bea Arthur was, among other things, a comedic genius, feminist icon, and beloved American actress of stage and screen. But widely overlooked in the recent coverage of her passing is the fact that she was a active advocate for animal rights. She campaigned against the force-feeding of ducks in the foie gras trade, even accompanying the president of PETA to London, where she demanded that Harrod's discontinue their peddling pâté.

Chuck: Chuck Versus the Predator

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 24th 2009 10:29AM
chuck trio(S02E17) Oh my my. It seems that things are really starting to shift on Chuck. Relationships are being reassessed, Chuck is being forced into certain directions, and before this season (and hopefully not the series) ends, I expect Charles to be forever altered by the events that occur.

And I think Big Mike and Morgan have bonded like father and son, which may or may not be such a good thing. More on all the developments on Chuck after the jump -- just in case you haven't watch yet.

Judging Kara...it's time to get tough

It's time for the judge to be judged. American Idol is toodling along this year, and after tonight we'll be down to ten performers (presuming that the new-fangled Judge's Save rule isn't employed). So, now that we are where we are, it seems about the right time to note that the new judge is a dud.

Okay, maybe not a total dud, but she really isn't bringing much to the table. Timidity gets you nowhere on American Idol. She needs to get tougher. She needs more attitude. Apparently, I'm not the only scribe who feels this way.

Daytime Emmys add court category

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 27th 2008 8:25AM
Judge JudyThe Daytime Emmys have rendered their verdict: court TV shows will compete in their own Emmy award category. On April 30th, when the nominations are announced, legal shows will vie against each other in a new category meant to honor the best in court television. That means for the first time ever, Judge Judy can go up against the likes of The People's Court, Judge Alex, Divorce Court and the rest of the justice-driven syndicated real drama series currently on the air.

Judging nine TV judges

by Jackie Schnoop, posted Jan 31st 2008 11:20AM
Who judges the TV judges? I do.Not to worry -- this isn't about Simon, Randy, or Paula. I'm not talking American Idol here. Nah, I'm talking real people, real cases, true litigants ... and so much more! You see, I'm generally off from my day job one weekday a week. Of course I have to watch television. It's a dirty job, but someone has to do it, right?

I just never got into soap operas. Well, there was that period decades ago when I spent the summer home with a broken foot before the advent of the internet. But I digress. What I watch these days during the daytime hours tend to be the judge shows. Well, to digress a moment again -- WGN airs Homicide: Life on the Street at noon here. I can't miss that, of course. But then it's justice served. Who judges the judges? I do, naturally!
