Patrick Dempsey May Not Be Leaving 'Grey's Anatomy' After All
by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 1st 2011 3:40AM
Reports of McDreamy's demise may have been premature. Yesterday we reported that Patrick Dempsey said he's leaving 'Grey's Anatomy' at the end of the upcoming Season 8.Now it seems that he may have to put away those golf clubs and get out the stethoscope again. According to E! Online, McDreamy misspoke. Kind of.
His rep. told E! News that when Dempsey told Italian 'Vanity Fair' that "It's gonna be my last. ... For me it's done," what he really meant was: "He was referring to the fact that his contract is up at the end of next season and we have no idea what the future holds."
So that's all cleared up then. Several members of the 'Grey's' cast -- including Ellen Pompeo -- have contracts expiring at the end of Season 8 and right now it's all up in the air. It's possible that there could be a mass exodus, but it's also possible that some of them will be renewed.
Katherine Heigl Returns to TV in HBO's 'Knitting Circle'
by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 8th 2011 2:20PM
Katherine Heigl is making her return to TV, but not with a new series. The former 'Grey's Anatomy' actress will produce and star in an HBO movie.
According to Deadline, Heigl and her mother will produce an adaptation of Ann Hood's 'The Knitting Circle.' The project is being written by 'Dirty Sexy Money' creator Craig Wright.
Heigl will play the main character, a mother mourning the loss of her child. She turns to a knitting circle to help overcome the grief that has taken over her life.
This is Heigl's first TV role since leaving ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' in 2010.
Katherine Heigl Uses a Smoke Stick on 'Late Show,' Discusses Fighting Her Addiction (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 28th 2010 11:15AM
Katherine Heigl has been battling a cigarette addiction for six years, but finally has found a solution to her problem: a "smoke stick."The "smoke stick" is actually a so-called "e-cigarette" -- a battery-powered device that lets you inhale nicotine while puffing out a cloud of (supposedly) harmless water vapor.
On 'Late Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), Heigl demonstrated the smoke stick for David Letterman, and Dave was so impressed, he tried the "e-cigarette" out for himself. And he liked it!
'Grey's Anatomy' Season 7 Preview: Wedding Bells, Hot New Doc and ... Izzie's Return?!
by Kim Potts, posted Aug 23rd 2010 4:30PM

Any network drama heading into a seventh season needs to pull out the big guns to keep its audience interested, and 'Grey's Anatomy' already has a wedding planned to kick off its seventh season on Sept. 23.
But could series creator Shonda Rhimes have an even bigger storyline up her sleeve, one that, say, might just include the return of Katherine Heigl as former Seattle Grace doc Izzie Stevens?
Katherine Heigl Submits Herself for Emmy Race
by Laura Prudom, posted Jun 4th 2010 4:20PM
Katherine Heigl and the Emmy Awards have a long and storied history. In 2006, the actress had to be vocally censored by Emmy producers for swearing in surprise when she won her Supporting Actress award, and earlier in the show, Heigl corrected a telecast announcer for incorrectly pronouncing her name before she presented an award.
In 2008, the 'Grey's Anatomy' star chose not to submit herself for consideration for her work on the medical drama, stating that she didn't feel she "was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination." The comments sparked a firestorm of controversy and tabloid gossip about Heigl's position on the series that lasted all the way up to her unexpected exit from the ABC show earlier this year.
Now, Heigl is set to reignite that media scrutiny, as The Hollywood Insider reports that the 'Killers' star has submitted herself for consideration in the Best Supporting Actress category of this year's Emmy race.
Katherine Heigl's Emotional Moment on 'Tonight Show' (VIDEO)
by Chris Harnick, posted May 28th 2010 10:30AM
Katherine Heigl stopped by 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) to chat about her new film, 'Killers,' but the conversation took a more serious turn when the actress started to talk about her late brother.Heigl discussed her new baby, Naleigh, and the challenges of being a new mom, especially the change in her emotions.
"I don't know how to explain it, it's so strange, but anytime I see a film or a television show that has to deal with anything tragic or hard or difficult between a mother and a child, my whole -- my reaction is -- I used to just watch it and feel empathy and now I feel like, 'Oh my god,'" Heigl said. "The crying begins and I try and not cry because Josh just mercilessly makes fun of me ..."
Then, Heigl's attention turned to her brother's passing 20 years ago, around the 4 minute part.
Matthew Morrison Has Sexy Abs, Michelle Obama Crush (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted May 28th 2010 6:26AM
When Matthew J. Morrison visited 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), Jay Leno was kind enough to show off a picture of the 'Glee' actor that appeared in 'Vogue.'Seeing his six-pack on full display, fellow guest Katherine Heigl said, "Who knew that's what's under there, huh? Wow!" "Sixteen hours of lipo," joked Morrison.
Then Leno followed that up with another revelation: "I read in 'In Style' magazine ... that you have a crush on Michelle Obama." Honestly, the last part of that sentence is less surprising (and more believable) than the first: Jay Leno reads 'In Style'?
Katherine Heigl Can't Watch 'Grey's Anatomy' Anymore (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted May 21st 2010 6:07AM
Clearly, David Letterman knows nothing about 'Grey's Anatomy,' nor seen a single episode."You're not on the 'Grey's Anatomy'?" he asked Katherine Heigl on the 'Late Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS). She kindly brought him up to speed.
"I really did like my job, and I really loved the people I worked with," Heigl said, admitting she can't watch the medical drama anymore.
"I stopped watching the show back in November when I went on family leave, because I felt like I was missing the party. [And] I actually get a little bit jealous of [my character's husband] Alex sleeping with other women."
'Killers' Cast: Before They Were Movie Stars
by Chris Harnick, posted May 18th 2010 12:00AM

Like many before them, the cast of 'Killers' got their humble starts on television, so Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher are in fine company as TV stars turned marquee movie names.
In 'Killers,' Heigl's Jennifer and Kutcher's Spencer are a young married couple living a seemingly perfect life ... until Jennifer learns that Spencer is a secret agent, and somebody is out to kill them both. Think lots of guns and action sequences with a dose of romance.
Heigl and Kutcher are joined by other TV names in their latest flick, so we've taken a look at where they all were before they became movie stars.
Katherine Heigl Talks Hair With Martha Stewart (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Apr 15th 2010 4:30PM
Katherine Heigl appeared on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated) and talked hair, including her decision to switch from blonde to brunette, and the convenience of wearing wigs as a way to easily change hairstyles. "I did it about a month ago," Heigl said of trading her blonde locks for a brunette 'do. "And, it's funny, because I still do look in the mirror on occasion and get a little surprised because I still see myself as a blonde. It's been a long time since I've been dark."

'Grey's Anatomy' - 'Sympathy for the Parents' Recap
by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 2nd 2010 4:40AM

(S06E19) This episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' finally gives the viewers the backstory of Alex Karev by introducing Alex's brother Aaron. They also planted the seed that Izzie won't be coming back by lightly mentioning divorce papers in the first five minutes of the show. Since Katherine Heigl is out, I wonder what will happen to Izzie's eggs?
The episode straddled the line between over the top and well executed. There were definite heart-tugging moments matched with actual interaction between Alex and Meredith and Bailey being an excited mother. To counteract this, I'm not on board with the whole "Callie wants a baby" storyline anymore, and I'm not feeling the Mark/Teddy relationship.
It's True: Heigl Has Left 'Grey's Anatomy' For Good
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 24th 2010 11:32AM
The on-again, off-again relationship between Katherine Heigl and ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' is permanently off-again. Michael Ausiello reports that Heigl really is leaving the show for good. But this isn't just some statement that ABC is releasing announcing the news, Heigl is actually the cover story this week at Entertainment Weekly, where she explains who she has fought with, why she is leaving the hit show, and why she needs to apologize for certain things she has said in the past. The big headline on the cover actually says "I'm Sorry."
Uhhh...does anyone else think that's a really odd cover? This is obviously a PR move, and that's fine (that's done all the time with celebrities), but a prayer pose? Seriously? I'd like to think it's supposed to be ironic and funny but it just comes across as lame.
Heigl was supposed to return to the show on March 1 but didn't, so both sides decided to have her leave the show.
5 Reasons Katherine Heigl Should Leave 'Grey's Anatomy'
by Laura Prudom, posted Mar 12th 2010 6:35PM
The doctor is out. Almost. After six years of doomed love affairs, a hallucinatory boyfriend and a battle with cancer, Izzie Stevens is reportedly hanging up her stethoscope for good. According to Michael Ausiello, blonde beauty Katherine Heigl has succeeded in negotiating a release from her 'Grey's Anatomy' contract with showrunner Shonda Rhimes; all that remains is for ABC Studios and Heigl's reps to work out an exit agreement, and Heigl will have her freedom.
Katherine Heigl Might Already Be Gone From 'Grey's Anatomy'
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 12th 2010 1:31PM

'Grey's Anatomy' star Katherine Heigl was supposed to return to the set of the ABC show on March 1 after taking some time to film a movie. But... she didn't, because she's been negotiating her contract with the network for a while and they still haven't come to an agreement. Now sources are telling Michael Ausiello that Heigl, Shonda Rhimes, and ABC will end her contract now instead of waiting until the end of the season.
Would this be a bad thing? It seems like there's a lot of drama surrounding Heigl, and I don't mean on the show. Remember when she made that odd comment about the 'Grey's Anatomy' writers? Or when she complained about long hours on the set?
If she doesn't return to the show, that means that her last episode has already aired.
Review: Grey's Anatomy - I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked
by Michael Pascua, posted Jan 22nd 2010 3:30AM

(S06E12) This episode of Grey's Anatomy reestablished Meredith as the core character of the show: she was the one who had to deal with Derek's problems with the chief, the aftermath of Alex and Lexie, Christina's driven nature, and had to console the chief. Fortunately for her, it was one of those weeks where she actually had the time to brush her hair.
I've gotten some criticism when I declined to watch the Private Practice crossover. After seeing this episode, I don't think that I needed to watch the crossover episode at all. Mark was devastated about Lexie, had sex with Addison because he was so depressed, and was upset that Lexie acted so immature. He quickly explains that in one minute. There goes that relationship.
