Katherine Heigl Talks Hair With Martha Stewart (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 15th 2010 4:30PM
Katherine Heigl appeared on 'The Martha Stewart Show' (weekdays, syndicated) and talked hair, including her decision to switch from blonde to brunette, and the convenience of wearing wigs as a way to easily change hairstyles.

"I did it about a month ago," Heigl said of trading her blonde locks for a brunette 'do. "And, it's funny, because I still do look in the mirror on occasion and get a little surprised because I still see myself as a blonde. It's been a long time since I've been dark."

'Grey's Anatomy' - 'Sympathy for the Parents' Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 2nd 2010 4:40AM
The Karev brothers fight
(S06E19) This episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' finally gives the viewers the backstory of Alex Karev by introducing Alex's brother Aaron. They also planted the seed that Izzie won't be coming back by lightly mentioning divorce papers in the first five minutes of the show. Since Katherine Heigl is out, I wonder what will happen to Izzie's eggs?

The episode straddled the line between over the top and well executed. There were definite heart-tugging moments matched with actual interaction between Alex and Meredith and Bailey being an excited mother. To counteract this, I'm not on board with the whole "Callie wants a baby" storyline anymore, and I'm not feeling the Mark/Teddy relationship.

5 Reasons Katherine Heigl Should Leave 'Grey's Anatomy'

by Laura Prudom, posted Mar 12th 2010 6:35PM
The doctor is out. Almost.

After six years of doomed love affairs, a hallucinatory boyfriend and a battle with cancer, Izzie Stevens is reportedly hanging up her stethoscope for good. According to Michael Ausiello, blonde beauty Katherine Heigl has succeeded in negotiating a release from her 'Grey's Anatomy' contract with showrunner Shonda Rhimes; all that remains is for ABC Studios and Heigl's reps to work out an exit agreement, and Heigl will have her freedom.

Review: Grey's Anatomy - I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked

by Michael Pascua, posted Jan 22nd 2010 3:30AM
Izzie and Alex actually spend some on screen time together.
(S06E12) This episode of Grey's Anatomy reestablished Meredith as the core character of the show: she was the one who had to deal with Derek's problems with the chief, the aftermath of Alex and Lexie, Christina's driven nature, and had to console the chief. Fortunately for her, it was one of those weeks where she actually had the time to brush her hair.

I've gotten some criticism when I declined to watch the Private Practice crossover. After seeing this episode, I don't think that I needed to watch the crossover episode at all. Mark was devastated about Lexie, had sex with Addison because he was so depressed, and was upset that Lexie acted so immature. He quickly explains that in one minute. There goes that relationship.

Best TV of the '00s: Scandals

by Mike Moody, posted Dec 29th 2009 2:00PM
grey's anatomy scandalMore of our best of the decade coverage, which started earlier today. You can read the other posts at the link above. Here, we talk about the decade's biggest TV scandals.

Who doesn't like a little drama? We love it here at TV Squad. Of course, its usually the scripted kind that we obsess over, not the real-life variety. But it was hard to escape all of the behind-the-scenes scandals going on during the Aughts.

The backstage drama often spilled out onto the tube, in talk show interviews, reality series, and with the 24-hour news networks looking to fill time and boost their ratings. Needless to say, we had little trouble picking our top TV scandals of the '00s.

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 6 Episode 9: Izzie + Alex = Awkward (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 13th 2009 4:06PM
After a bout with a brain tumor, Izzie returns to 'Grey's Anatomy,' but things aren't exactly rosy at Seattle Grace.

Izzie returns to the hospital, but not to patch things up with Alex or try to get her job back. Instead, she's there to have her high school science teacher, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, examined by Derek.

Grey's Anatomy: Invasion

by Michael Pascua, posted Oct 16th 2009 12:25AM
Izzie eyes the Mercy West newcomers.
(S06E05) We've finally reached the big merger episode of Grey's Anatomy. The orange doctors of Mercy West have invaded Seattle Grace Hospital. I can't get warmed up to all of the new characters that this show is shoving down my throat in one episode. All of them seem too pushy in a place where they're foreigners. If the show wants me to warm up to these Mercy West characters, they shouldn't act like dumb jocks or pushy girls with low self esteem.

In the end, the only losers are the patients that were being fought over. All of them went through hell because of the competition.

Jane After Dark: Grey's Anatomy season five; Private Practice season two

by Jane Boursaw, posted Oct 4th 2009 10:00AM
Grey's Anatomy, season five dvdWith Grey's Anatomy and its spin-off Private Practice starting new seasons, I decided to refresh my brain with the previous seasons of these two ABC shows. So this week's Jane After Dark was all about the dreamy doctors.

I've been on board with Private Practice since the beginning, and was especially interested to see what happened with Violet and her baby in the season three premiere. Happy ending there, thank goodness! And while Grey's Anatomy has certainly ebbed and flowed since it began in 2005, I've stuck with it because I've grown to love the dysfunctional characters with all their baggage. It makes my life seem just that much better.

Grey's Anatomy, Season Five

There were parts of this season that drove me a little nuts, like Izzie having "mind-boggling sex" with dead Denny. That whole storyline made me want to jump off a roof, but there were plenty of highlights to the season, as well...

Grey's Anatomy: I Always Feel Like Somebody's Watchin' Me

by Michael Pascua, posted Oct 2nd 2009 2:58AM
A lighthearted moment at Grey's Anatomy.
(S06E03) The paranoia kicked in on Grey's Anatomy with the fears of merging with Mercy West. Everyone was on pins and needles wondering whether or not they would get cut. Tonight's episode focused mostly on Lexie and Christina's reactions on how to guarantee themselves positions in Seattle Grace. I still don't see why they were worried because they are good at what they do and even if they got cut, they could easily find jobs.

We also see how much of a loving husband Alex is, being concerned for his wife's health and making sure that she takes her medications.

Grey's Anatomy: Was the laughing scene at George's funeral realistic?

by Jane Boursaw, posted Sep 26th 2009 1:07PM
Grey's Anatomy - George's FuneralWhen Mary Richards burst out laughing at Chuckles the Clown's funeral, I could totally understand that. She's mortified, of course, and when the minister says it's ok, that laughter is what Chuckles would have wanted, Mary starts sobbing. It seemed both funny and realistic.

I was trying to decide if the laughing scene at George's funeral in this week's Grey's Anatomy was realistic, and I guess it is. No one really knows how grief will affect someone, and laughter is as good as any method of handling grief.

I mean, the whole thing was sort of crazy -- that George would be hit by a bus while saving someone. And then that "someone" would be crying more than anyone else at the funeral. No doubt, she was filled with guilt and grief over the whole thing.

Gearing up for Grey's Anatomy season six

by Michael Pascua, posted Aug 25th 2009 11:26AM
A funeral at Grey's perhaps? With a month to go, the news about T.R. Knight leaving Grey's Anatomy finally comes to the forefront with one of the first previews for the sixth season. The preview spends the first 15 seconds at the end of season five, so fans only get 15 juicy seconds of new clips.

The clip is nothing out of the ordinary for Grey's viewers: flashes of white, screaming people's names, faces of panic and running around. The big fans can dissect each scene and realize that there isn't much to analyze.

Here's hoping that the preview actually takes place in the first ten minutes of the show. If I get a lot of unnecessary George flashback for the first hour, I will have to find something to gag myself with.
