Katie Holmes' Dress Starts Falling Off During Her Stupid Human Trick (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 11th 2011 3:00AM
Katie Holmes, 'Late Show with David Letterman'David Letterman would have been really kicking himself if he'd forgotten completely to ask Katie Holmes about her Stupid Human Trick' on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS). He just got so distracted talking to her about her five year old daughter, he nearly didn't ask her.

When she stood up and struck her pose to start showing the trick, the strap of her dress fell, and things might have wound up censored had she not pulled it back up. But even that shoulder was enough for Letterman to declare, "This trick ain't that stupid!"

Maybe the trick is Letterman finding different ways to get celebrities to start taking their clothes off on national television. It certainly wasn't the first time for him.

Katie Holmes Is the Mythical Slutty Pumpkin on 'How I Met Your Mother' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 1st 2011 1:30AM
Katie Holmes, 'How I Met Your Mother' - 'The Slutty Pumpkin Returns'Since virtually the beginning of the series, Ted has been pining for his slutty pumpkin on Halloween. So on the ten year anniversary of their initial -- and only -- meeting, fate and a friendly guy at the costume rental shop intervened and Ted found himself at her door on 'How I Met Your Mother' (Mon., 8PM ET on CBS).

Katie Holmes took on the iconic role of the slutty pumpkin, where we quickly learned that she will definitely not be the mother -- never mind that we've already met the mother's ankle in another apartment. The chemistry between the two was just disastrous, but the romance of the story kept Ted hanging on way longer than he otherwise would.

How I Met Your Mother Katie HolmesThe notorious Slutty Pumpkin has been part of 'How I Met Your Mother' lore for years, but now, after hearing about the mysterious stranger who stole Ted's heart back in 2001, we finally get to see her.

Here are some photos of guest star Katie Holmes making her debut as the Slutty Pumpkin on this year's Halloween episode. Don't Ted and Slutty Pumpkin look cute together?

Honestly, we don't think she looks that slutty, but the costume is pretty short, and there are some very strategically placed holes in the front, which might just have made for an interesting time with Ted's Hanging Chad (remember them?) outfit.

See another picture of Slutty Pumpkin and a seriously buff-looking NPH after the jump.

Katie Holmes, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Sometimes there are some great perks when filming a movie. During shooting for 'Jack & Jill,' Katie Holmes got to spend some time on an amazing luxury cruise ship. She told Jay Leno on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) all about the carousel, theater, skating rink and zip lines.

"It was kind of the best ten days," she said. "I was like, 'Really? Do we have to leave?'"

But when asked, she did not take advantage of the zip line. She made up some stuff about not wanting to fall on the pretty umbrella at Johnny Rockets -- also on the ship -- but Leno called her out on the truth. "You wimped out," he said.

The first part aired yesterday, the second airs today, final show tomorrow. On today's edition of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Latifah said of the show was beautiful, emotional and fun, and that she was actually a bit nervous to take part in it.

Latifah appeared with Halle Berry and Katie Holmes to pay tribute to Oprah Winfrey. "I don't usually get nervous at things like that," she said, "but to walk out there with Halle and Katie and deliver our initial, you know, sort of speech, I was like, 'OK, you've got to get down those stairs, don't trip! Do a good job, really show up for her."

Latifah said there was also a bit of melancholy to the proceedings, as Winfrey said goodbye to the show and her fans. She's not sure Winfrey was completely settled it for herself, but said it looked like she had a blast.

Kimmel wasn't referring to couch-jumping; he was talking about how the actor does so many of his own stunts.

Last time Cruise appeared on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC), he and Kimmel soared over Hollywood Blvd. on a zip line. "I was like a corpse put in a potato sack on a clothes line," recalled Kimmel.

The host then showed photos of Cruise -- barefoot -- atop Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the tallest man-made structure in the world. Cruise perched carefree at 2,717 feet for 'Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol.'

Regarding the stunt, Holmes told her husband she "loved it" but in reality she was "terrified. I wanted to throw up."

'The Kennedys': The Accent Strikes Back

by Stephanie Earp, posted Apr 4th 2011 8:30PM

By now, you've probably heard a lot of things about the miniseries 'The Kennedys.' You've likely heard that's it's wildly inaccurate and that's why History Channel dropped it. Or maybe you've heard it spun the other way -- that it's too close to the bone, and the remaining Kennedys fought the production. You're probably aware that Katie Holmes plays the legendary Jackie O. and does a terrible job. If you've been following it very closely, you may also be aware that the series was produced by a conservative (Joel Surnow, '24') and a whole bunch of spin has been applied to that angle too.

All of these things are true, but none of them get the heart of what makes 'The Kennedys' so deliciously bad.

'The Kennedys' Miniseries Premiere Recap

by Alex Moaba, posted Apr 4th 2011 11:40AM
The long-awaited, much-buzzed-about-for-all-the-wrong-reasons miniseries 'The Kennedys' premiered Sunday night against a backdrop of thematically similar programming: 'The Borgias,' another story about a family's ruthless and debauched political dynasty, and next week's British royal wedding, which will undoubtedly prove our enduring obsession with real-life kings and queens.

But unfortunately for the 'The Kennedys,' and the suddenly upstart Reelz Channel, this miniseries may end up having more in common with Charlie Sheen's 'Torpedo of Truth' tour, another easily predictable disaster that somehow drew audiences in despite their better instincts.

The first two hours of the series, which rotated between the 1960 presidential election and various stages of World War II, served as an introduction to this interpretation of the Kennedy clan. The narrative covers a lot of ground, usually in three- or six-month intervals. We see major events in the family's history, like the sudden demise of Joseph Kennedy's presidential ambitions, eldest son Joe's death in WWII, many walks on the beach at the family compound in Cape Cod, and the launch of Jack's political career.

But much of 'The Kennedys' is like walking around a wax museum animated by low-grade robotics. Thanks to strong casting, the characters look remarkably like the the historical figures they're playing; it's only once you see them up close that it becomes clear how stiff and vacuous many of them are.

'The Kennedys' Update: Did Caroline Get the Miniseries Pulled?

by Chris Harnick, posted Jan 10th 2011 1:40PM
The KennedysDid Caroline Kennedy and Maria Shriver influence the History Channel in its shelving of the controversial 'The Kennedys' miniseries? According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two may have been instrumental in getting the Katie Holmes/Greg Kinnear miniseries off History's schedule.

Caroline Kennedy reportedly personally lobbied Anne Sweeney, co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group. Sweeney sits on the board of A&E Television Networks, the parent company of History.

Kennedy has a book deal with Disney's Hyperion publishing house and is editing a collection of unpublished interviews with her mother, Jackie Kennedy Onasis. She agreed to promote the collection on 'Good Morning America' and other media outlets. However, if AETN had gone through with the project, it's been suggested Kennedy would not have been as cooperative in promoting the Hyperion book.

History Channel Cancels 'The Kennedys' Miniseries -- Before It Even Airs

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jan 7th 2011 11:00PM
The Kennedys promotional posterThe much-anticipated 'Kennedys' miniseries was set to air this spring. That is, until History Channel abruptly canceled it today.

"Upon completion of the production of 'The Kennedys,' History has decided not to air the 8-part miniseries," a rep for the network told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. "After viewing the final product in its totality, we have concluded that although the film is produced and acted with the highest quality auspices, the dramatic license the series takes is not suitable for the History brand."

That "dramatic license" didn't deter big-name talent from the multi-million dollar production: Greg Kinnear as John F. Kennedy; Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy; Barry Pepper as Robert F. Kennedy; and Tom Wilkinson as Joe Kennedy. The actors and producer Joel Surnow ('24') were told this afternoon of the cancellation.
