John Travolta's Surprise Appearance on 'Kirstie Alley's Big Life' (VIDEO)

Kirstie Alley's Big Life, John Travolta, Kelly TravoltaAwww ... how cool would it be to have John Travolta and Kelly Preston show up at your surprise birthday party? And even cooler to have Travolta dance with you. That's how it went down on 'Kirstie Alley's Big Life' (Sun., 10PM ET on A&E).

And with the awful time the Travoltas have had after losing their son, Jett, it's nice to see them able to relax a bit and have fun. Hopefully, they're starting to have a new normal that takes them into the future.

John Travolta on Dealing with Grief Over Son's Death (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Feb 2nd 2010 3:00PM
It's been more than a year since John Travolta's son Jet died of seizure at the family's holiday home in the Bahamas. Since then, Travolta says he and wife Kelly Preston have come to terms with their grief through Scientology and the support of family and friends.

"We've worked very hard every day since our loss, and our church has helped us tremendously. We're on a special program designed for loss, and we've been helped a tremendous amount. Our friends, our fans ... You would be surprised about how even a fan letter that says something just right will make your moment for you and get you through that day a little better," Travolta said on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC).

Miss Guided's Judy Greer gets a new gig

by Allison Waldman, posted May 21st 2008 1:28PM
Judy GreerIf Judy Greer was in tears about Miss Guided not being picked up by ABC for the fall schedule, she can wipe her eyes and blow her nose because something else -- maybe better -- has come along. Greer has been cast as the lead in HBO's Suburban Shootout. This is the same comedy that has already been announced with Kelly Preston, Rachael Harris (Notes from the Underbelly) and Kerri Kenney (Reno 911).

The comedy pilot is being directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, best known for features like Men in Black and Addams Family (I'll be kind and not harp on The Wild, Wild West), but on TV is one of the prime players behind ABC's Pushing Daisies (as well as Notes from the Underbelly which is the connection to Rachael). So, you see, Judy may have landed in a project that's bound for glory. Well, we'll see, but it does sound interesting.

Kelly Preston in new HBO series

by Brad Trechak, posted May 16th 2008 11:22AM

Kelly PrestonKelly Preston (also known as Mrs. John Travolta) has been signed to star in a new HBO pilot called Suburban Shootout. The series is a dark comedy about rival gangs of suburban housewives. Most recently, Preston had a recurring role on Medium.

Preston will be playing Camilla, the leader of one of the gangs. Other cast members include Kerri Kenney and Rachael Harris. The show is based on a British series that was picked up by the Oxygen network.

The premise of the series sounds good. It's a bit like Desperate Housewives meet Boys In The Hood. I envision a scene in which the housewives rumble like the rival gangs in The Warriors. While the premise works, its success depends on the execution of the idea.

There is one thing that can be confidently said about this new series. The show couldn't possibly be worse that one of she and her husband's previous efforts, Battlefield Earth.

Medium: Car Trouble - VIDEO

Hottest boss ever.(S04E14) Out of all the dreams Allison has awakened from this season, tonight gets my vote for "Most Likely to Make You Jump Out of Bed and Scare the Crap Out of Your Sleeping Husband."

One thing you have to get used to if you are fan of Medium, is the ever present scene where somebody doesn't understand how Allison knows what she knows. Even though Joe, Davalos, Scanlon and most of her friends are well aware why Allison acts so strange, there are still plenty of people who are baffled by her behavior and, as a matter of course, have to react with disbelief and/or confusion. It gets old but it's a necessary evil. The most genuine of these reactions, however, come from the Dubois children.

Medium: Partners in Crime - VIDEO

The upstanding Det. Scanlon(S04E12) I had all but forgotten about Kurtwood Smith. I've been a big fan ever since Robocop and this character is really fun to watch. I only wish the writers had given his character a different name. Every time someone calls him Agent Cooper, I flashback to Twin Peaks and I feel like I'm betraying Medium by wishing that Peaks was still on the air.

One of the best things about Smith is how he can be so menacing while still keeping a smile on his face. In fact, I find him scarier when he smiles. I felt the same way when Red would actually say something nice to a member of his family on That 70's Show.

Kelly Preston slated for mini-arc on Medium

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 25th 2008 9:32AM
Kelly PrestonDidn't Medium's Allison see this coming? Apparently not. Kelly Preston will be joining NBC's Medium for a four-show stint. Kelly will be playing a character named Meghan Doyle, a venture capitalist who invests in Joe Dubois, Allison's husband's, new solar-based invention. Presumably her interest in Joe is all business, but by the time the first of four episodes ends, the one called Partners in Crime, you can bet that the tension between Allison and Joe will be positively palpable.
