Kenny Chesney Reflects on Tuscaloosa Tornado Relief Show, Performs on 'Today' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 17th 2011 2:10PM
When tornadoes ravaged the Tuscaloosa area last month, Kenny Chesney had a choice - reschedule the May 25 Tuscaloosa stop on his Goin' Coastal Tour, or go ahead and play the show as planned. It was a difficult decision, he told Ann Curry Friday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), but he played the show and donated the proceeds to tornado relief.Chesney was torn at the time - he wasn't sure if it would be more rude to play the show or not play the show. "The mayor just told us that these people need something to look forward to," he said. "I'm a total believer that music is the biggest healer ever. That's why we decided to go play, and it was one of the best nights of our tour so far."
Chesney then performed his song 'You & Tequilla,' a duet with Grace Potter, from his apparently alcohol-themed album, 'Hemingway's Whiskey.'
Idol alums to participate in Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular

Katharine McPhee and Jordin Sparks will be performing at this year's Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. The Idol alums will be joined by country music sensation Kenny Chesney and British chart-topper Natasha Bedingfield. McPhee, who is currently working with David Foster on her second album, will perform "Save The Last Dance for Me" at the event. Sparks, who is nominated for a BET Viewer's Choice Award for her duet with Chris Brown, is set to perform her latest single "One Step at a Time." Chesney will sing "Never Wanted Nothing More" and Bedingfield will sing "Pocketful of Sunshine." Natalie Morales of NBC's Today and Tiki Barber of Today and Football Night in America will co-host the event on Independence Day. The Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular will air from 9-10 p.m. on NBC. Sound like something you'd watch? I don't know if I'll be tuning in for this. I'd rather find a local fireworks show than watch one on TV.
People's Choice Awards winners
by Brett Love, posted Jan 10th 2007 10:33AM
CBS put their regular programming on hold last night so they could show the 33rd Annual People's Choice Awards. Hosted by Queen Latifah, the show gives awards based on public internet voting. As that is the case, these awards track with the Nielsen ratings more than most. Case in point, the award for Television Comedy went to Two And A Half Men. Top rated for a couple years now, but it can't seem to get any press unless Charlie Sheen is divorcing someone or hiring a hooker. Most of the other television awards followed similar lines. The award for Best Drama went to Grey's Anatomy. Best Actor was Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy). Best Actress went to Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives). Best Competition/Reality show was, of course, American Idol. Best Animated Show was The Simpsons. The only real surprise came in the new categories. Best New Drama was Heroes, which isn't a surprise, but Best New Comedy, The Class? I didn't see that one coming. The television awards were rounded out with Ellen Degeneres winning Best Talk Show Host.
Movies and Music winners after the jump.
Kenny Chesney to drag Renee Zellweger on TV with him
by Karina Longworth, posted May 30th 2005 2:16PM
So Kenny Chesney, recently named Entertainer of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards, and recently named Mr. Renee Zellweger on an island in the Caribbean, has been given his own primetime ABC special. According to Reuters, "Kenny Chesney: Somewhere in the Sun" will air the night before Thanksgiving, and will feature appearances from "as-yet-unnamed celebrity friends of Chesney's ... quite possibly [including] his new bride." I always find it a bit disconcerting when celebrity wives are asked to service the careers of their somewhat-less-famous spouses, but since I strongly dislike Renee Zellweger, in this case, I don't really care.
