Kris Allen Rocks the House at CBS Radio Expo (VIDEO)

Kris Allen and Band'American Idol' season 8 winner Kris Allen was one of the many performers who took part at the CBS Radio Expo over the weekend, which was held at New York City's new Yankee Stadium.

There, Allen and his band, who are each as good-looking as they are talented musicians, again displayed what this reporter saw from him four months ago at NYC's Highline Ballroom. Without a doubt, Allen is a performer who thrives in a live environment.

Allen is currently on tour in the U.S. His set list features a wide range of song selections, from tracks off his eponymous debut album, to mash-ups of songs like Kanye West's 'Heartless' and Coolio's 'Gangster's Paradise,' to covers of Michael Jackson's 'Man In The Mirror,' which was played as a tribute to honor the one-year anniversary of Jackson's death.

Where Was David Cook Among the 'American Idol' Winners?

by Andrew Scott, posted May 26th 2010 10:40PM
Departing judge Simon Cowell was supposed to be the center of attention in the 'American Idol' season 9 finale. But ironically, it was the former 'American Idol' winners who stole the show during his special farewell tribute segment, which also featured the return of former judge Paula Abdul.

In a true show-stopping moment, winners Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks and Kris Allen took to the stage to sing 'Together We Are One' by Delta Goodrem, during which they were joined by a revolving door of 'Idol' finalists that included everyone from Kimberly Caldwell to Constantine Maroulis and, yes, Justin Guarini.

Noticeably absent, though, was season 7 winner David Cook -- the only 'Idol' winner who did not take part in the group performance. According to Twitter, Cook was attending a charity event for cancer in Kansas City. An official word from Cook's camp has yet to be released.

Check out the clip after the jump.

'American Idol' - '4 Finalists Eliminated' Recap

by Kona Gallagher, posted Feb 26th 2010 12:05AM
american idol top 24
It's the first elimination show of the year! Generally, it feels like a huge loss when four contestants are eliminated all at once, but based on the lackluster performances by both the girls and the guys, I have a feeling that unless there's some huge shakeup, few tears will be shed.

But before we get to all that, we have a (lip-synced?) Top 24 performance, and 'Idol' winner Kris Allen makes an appearance, along with runner-up Allison Iraheta. We also get to see Kara's husband and one of the contestants in a bathrobe, so let's get started!

'American Idol' Alum Allison Iraheta to Rock First Live Results Show

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 22nd 2010 6:43PM
Allison IrahetaShe rocked her way to the final four in last season's competition of 'American Idol.' Now, Allison Iraheta is returning to the stage that made her famous to perform her new hit single, 'Scars,' on the first live results show of the new season. Iraheta received almost unanimous praise through her run on 'American Idol' and was quickly snatched up by 19 Entertainment and Jive Records; something quite rare for a fourth place finisher.

Iraheta won't be going it alone either, as season eight winner Kris Allen is also schedule to perform and share footage of his trip to Haiti on the special Thursday night results show. The episode will be a de facto benefit drive for Haiti through an 'Idol Gives Back' supported charity: the UN Foundation.

Tuesday night features the Top Twelve Girls singing a Top Ten Hit from the Hot 100 chart, with the boys following suit on Wednesday. Now by my math, that's 24 different songs, which doesn't fit into any Top Ten. Maybe most of them will just join forces and recreate 'We are the World 25: For Haiti' (currently sitting at number two on the chart).

Kris Allen Will Return to 'Idol' on Feb. 25th for Haitian Relief

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 18th 2010 8:20AM
kris_allen_microphone_american_idolAmid all the singing and interviews and pressure to make it in Hollywood, 'American Idol' actually slips in some good, humanitarian work. This year the giving is starting early to benefit the earthquake victims in Haiti, and last year's 'American Idol' winner Kris Allen will go to Haiti to offer a first hand account of the devastation.

'American Idol' teamed up with the United Nations Foundation to dedicate the February 25 'American Idol' episode to Haiti. During the results show -- and yes, there will be results -- viewers will see a video of Kris from his trip to Haiti, hear his music, and be encouraged to donate to the relief efforts via texting or an online web site. All the funds go to the bigger 'Idol Gives Back' drive that culminates with the April 21st special episode.

'American Idol' Winner Auditions: High Notes & Humble Beginnings (VIDEO)

by AOL TV Staff, posted Jan 19th 2010 11:10AM

Having waited tables or shoveled cow poo before becoming pop stars, famous people often don't care to rehash history. But when 'American Idol' is the vehicle that launched that superstar career, it's difficult to obscure the past with the sparkle of a Grammy and the gleam of platinum records, especially when the show's audition clips are some of the most fun viral videos out there.

Former 'AI' contestants like chart toppers Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and David Cook and Broadway babes Fantasia Barrino and Taylor Hicks once had to audition, too. Their tryouts are time capsules of raw talent that make you wonder how these artists ever wallowed in the same pool of hopefuls as William Hung, "Bikini Girl" and some of this season's worst auditions. Plus, watching Simon Cowell discredit Jordin Sparks during her audition because of her "weird smile" and "cutesy" delivery -- and knowing that he would eat his words when she won season 6 -- is priceless.

Take a look at the audition videos of all the 'American Idol's and see if you can spot the birth of a winner in each one.

Reviewcap: American Idol - Auditions #1: Boston

by Kona Gallagher, posted Jan 13th 2010 1:05AM
american idol judges
Alright, everyone! It seems like just moments ago that Kris Allen was crowned the new American Idol, but now he and runner-up Adam Lambert are old news. It's time to find the next superstar. This is going to be a big season: It's the first one without Paula, the first one with Ellen, and the last one with Simon. So let's just sit back, relax, and enjoy some auditions!

We start out with a look back at last season, and I'm sure Kara DioGuardi loves the fact that they're opening up with her ripping her dress off onstage with The Bikini Girl. Ryan talks about Paula leaving and shows a clip of Ellen announcing that she'll be the new judge. She looks so cute and excited! I can't wait for her to get on the live episodes. For now, however, we have guest judge Victoria Beckham. Am I the only one who forgets that she talks? I'm just so used to her posing, hearing her voice freaks me out.

Top TV Stories of 2009: Adam Lambert vs. Kris Allen

by Jane Boursaw, posted Dec 27th 2009 10:03AM
American Idol: Adam Lambert and Kris AllenEven die-hard viewers of American Idol might have a hard time remembering that Adam Lambert didn't win the competition earlier this year. Especially considering Lambert's high-profile persona lately, starting with his sex-filled American Music Awards performance.

But no, the winner of American Idol was, in fact, Kris Allen, who's seemingly the complete opposite of Lambert. There's no denying they're both great singers, but whereas Lambert is brash, theatrical and loves to knock those high notes out of the stadium, Allen is more low-key, folksy and laid back. The fellow contestants were also roommates at the Idol mansion.

Review: So You Think You Can Dance - 2 of 8 voted off

by Michael Pascua, posted Dec 10th 2009 12:42AM
Mollee falls off the bench, right before the SYTYCD finale.(S06E22) We had a pretty straightforward elimination episode of So You Think You Can Dance: two musical guests, random pimping from K-Mart, a short interview from DJ Samantha Ronson, and solos. Cat was looking stunning in her dress and spoon-like earrings. She reminds us that there were a ground breaking eight million votes.

Group Performance - Jazz (Sonya Tayeh) - I have a feeling that the women's section would have been hindered by Ashleigh's lack of contemporary skills if she was around. Russell disappeared for one sequence where he clearly would have been dancing with Ashleigh. I have a feeling that the performance had a lot less running off stage if there was a full top eight.

'American Idol' Halloween Costumes: Adam Lambert and Kris Allen

by Kim Potts, posted Oct 5th 2009 6:01PM
Adam Lambert on American Idol Season 8Halloween's almost here, so we're giving tips on how to dress like your favorite TV characters.

The Costume:
'American Idol' season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert; for couples, Lambert and 'Idol' winner Kris Allen

What You'll Need: The Lambert look really comes down to three things: the hair, the makeup and the leather. For the hair, you could style your own in that Lambert spiky 'do (see tips here), or you could buy a Lambert wig (go to eBay and type in "Adam Lambert wig"). For the makeup, the 'AI' runner-up is all about the black fingernail polish and eyeliner. And for the outfit, think black, tight and leather: leather jacket, leather pants, black T-shirt (v-neck and low-cut, preferably), black boots (platform or snakeskin is a plus), a wallet chain and various skull rings and heavy necklaces.

Fox offering up a bizarre MJ tribute Monday: a repeat of American Idol

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 26th 2009 10:03AM
American Idol 8 - Top 13In the wake of his surprise death yesterday, the networks scrambled to cobble together retrospectives of Michael Jackson's life and works and get them on the air as quickly as possible. I expect we'll see more carefully planned tributes coming down the road. But none perhaps more bizarre than Fox's proposed tribute to the King of Pop, coming up this Monday, June 29 at 8 ET.

They've decided to air an encore of the Michael Jackson themed episode of American Idol from this past season. In it, the Top 13 contestants performed from Jackson's catalogue. It's a bizarre choice, because despite a few good performances, notably from Kris Allen, Alexis Grace and Allison Iraheta, most of the performances were either okay or downright terrible. I'd think you'd want some good singing of perhaps some of his better known works to honor the man.

Things I learned from Rolling Stone's Adam Lambert interview

by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 9th 2009 6:07PM
LambertAmerican Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is on the cover of the new Rolling Stone, and he reveals a lot of information. Eight things I learned:

1. He's gay.
2. He's "glamboyant." (To quote Liz Lemon, that's a thing now?)
3. He doesn't tuck.
4. He had a crush on Kris Allen.
5. He has only dressed in drag three or four times.
6. He's not a civil rights leader.
7. He had a "psychedelic experience" at Burning Man
8. Seriously, he's gay.

Update: one fan voted for Kris Allen over 10,000 times?

by Bob Sassone, posted May 28th 2009 2:27PM
AT&TIf the reports coming from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette are true, maybe the news that we had yesterday about American Idol voting irregularities is meatier than we thought. One fan that says she voted for Kris Allen over 10,000 times.

It's also interesting that Idol rules state that power texting, the kind of texting that AT&T reps showed Kris Allen fans how to do, is against the rules. Isn't there some sort of built-in safety net for the voting? How can one fan vote over 10,000 times for one person? Shouldn't it be one person, one vote? Or one household, one vote? Or maybe one phone number, one vote? I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with the results. I have no idea. But it does seem that a better system could be in place.

Here's the real American Idol voting conspiracy

by Jason Hughes, posted May 27th 2009 6:07PM
Kris AllenFans of Kris Allen feel justified that their favorite won American Idol this year. Fans of the presumed favorite to win, Adam Lambert, have been lamenting his loss. Looking for reasons why Adam lost, as Bob reported, they've put some of the blame on AT&T. I think it's more a matter of the jaded state of California, where Lambert hails from. They're not as impressed with a famous singer in their midst as the people of Kris Allen's Arkansas are.

People in the Midwest and South don't have celebrities around every corner, and we're not as "hard" as the East Coast. So we still get excited when a "hometown" boy or girl does good. Think back to Season Five when Katharine McPhee went "home" to Los Angeles to a crowd of hundreds while Taylor Hicks was blown away by tens of thousands in Alabama (and they already had one Idol!).

Another season, another American Idol voting controversy

by Bob Sassone, posted May 27th 2009 12:33PM
Kris Allen and Adam Lambert
So Kris Allen beat Adam Lambert by a ton of votes last week. You knew there would be a controversy, right? This one is based around AT&T. Seems they might have pushed the results toward Allen by having their reps at parties organized by fans of Allen and teaching them how to "power text," which apparently means sending 10 or more text messages at once. The New York Times has all the details.

Is this a real controversy?
No way, Kris won fair and square402 (43.5%)
It's fixed!523 (56.5%)
