Will 'Days of our Lives' Celebrate 45 Years With Bo Breaking Into Jail to Save Hope?
by Michael Maloney, posted Nov 5th 2010 1:10PM
'Days of our Lives' turns 45 on Nov. 8. For 27 of those years, beloved fan favorites Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso have been entertaining viewers as star-crossed lovers Bo Brady and Hope Williams Brady. As one of the most romantic super-couples on soaps ever, Bo and Hope have battled everything over the decades starting with her father's resistance to their romance to her trying to kill him while zoned out on prescription meds.
The couple's current conflict has Hope incarcerated, having been convicted for crimes she committed while under the influence. She may -- or may not -- get out of the big house in time to hang her bulb on the Horton Christmas tree (the traditional ceremony is a favorite among 'Days' viewers.) But fans in the Los Angeles area can see the actors, along with the rest of the cast, at a fan appreciation day at Universal City Walk on Sat., Nov. 6.
TV Squad recently caught up with the couple, who dished on their storyline, two new books devoted to 'Days,' 'Skating With the Stars,' and 'Days' anniversary. Read on to get the scoop from one of daytime's great duos.
I'm psyched about Crystal Chappell's return to Days of Our Lives
by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 19th 2009 10:03AM
I'm still not really over the end of Guiding LIght, but if there's one thing soap fans know, you have to move on. You get over the end of Santa Barbara, mourn the loss of Another World, remember forever that before vampires were in vogue in prime time, Barnabus Collins ruled daytime, despite rickety sets and off-the-rack costumes. That said, even while people are saying that soaps are dead -- or dying -- I'm excited about Crystal Chappell returning to Days of Our Lives.
You want to know how excited? I'm going to watch. After Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn were unceremoniously dumped by the soap, I drifted away. But I'm willing to give Days another try, especially because my curiosity has been piqued about Crystal's return.
NBC's all-star party - TCA report
by Michael Maloney, posted Jul 18th 2007 2:38PM
The first ingredient in a successful TCA party is to have it near the hotel where the tour is taking place. After sitting in panels and conducting interviews all day long, a shuttle bus ride to a faraway restaurant isn't really enticing.
So kudos to NBC for making a smart move by having its all-star gala on the roof of the Beverly Hilton's parking lot. It's an elevator ride away and the area is wide open. The party music isn't so loud that it's going to drown out any interviews. Nice.
Swag alert: guests received mini handheld fans upon arriving, but they weren't really needed because there was a nice evening breeze in the air.
Name the Days of Our Lives baby
by Anna Johns, posted Dec 4th 2006 6:39PM
All this month, Days of Our Lives is having a contest with its viewers to name the baby of one of the characters. Hope (Kristian Alfonso) is going to have a girl and viewers will choose the name. Go to NBC's Days of Our Lives website to vote- you can vote as often as you like until December 31. The name options are Cassidy, Darcy, Rori, Bridget, and Clara. From December 18-31, the contest will be narrowed down to the top three names and viewers can vote again. Hope's going to name the baby (and presumably have it, too) in mid-January.TV Squad Hot Topics
