Kurt and Brenda Warner Look Back on the 'Dancing With the Stars' Experience (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 8th 2011 5:30PM
Kurt and Brenda Warner talk 'Dancing With the Stars' on 'Good Day LA'Today is the first day of the new NFL season, but former Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner found himself talking about a competition he didn't do quite as well in. Kurt and his wife Brenda were on 'Good Day LA' (weekdays, 9AM PT on Fox) where they talked about the new season of 'Dancing With the Stars,' and reminisced about Kurt's time on the show.

Warner had his problems on the show, one of which was not wanting to do the more intimate dances out of respect for his wife. "That was part of the process of going on the show," he said, "being a Christian guy, like you said, being married. All those things that you want to show people. And you can do the show, and you can have a good time, you can do what the show is all about, but at the same time, you can respect your faith, you know, you can respect your wife and your family."

Kurt Warner Surprises Barbara Walters with Roses on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 14th 2010 1:18PM
Kurt Warner, Back in October, Barbara Walters revealed that she had a bit of a crush on former NFL quarter back Kurt Warner, then a contestant on 'Dancing With the Stars. "He practiced with his two little girls how to be delicate," she swooned on 'The View' (Weekdays, Syndicated on ABC).

Today, Whoopi Goldberg helped Walters realize a dream she perhaps didn't know she had. After some gentle ribbing about the "hot topic" that left Walters "weak in the knees" back in October, Goldberg set up the introduction of Warner himself, who came onto the set with a bouquet of roses for his celebrity fan.

Co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck indicated that she'd been friends with the Warners for years. "He didn't give you flowers!" Walters told her defiantly, for which Hasselbeck had no real comeback.

On the 'DWTS' Scene: Kurt Warner Jokes About His 'Unfair' Exit

by Michael Maloney, posted Nov 10th 2010 9:00AM
Kurt Warner and Anna TrebunskayaKurt Warner earned both high scores and high praise from the judges on Monday night's 'Dancing With the Stars' performance show, but he and pro partner Anna Trebunskaya were sent packing on Tuesday's results program. The couple failed to receive enough viewer votes to take them to next week's semi-finals.

The former pro football player's departure means the four semi-finalists of 'DWTS'' season 11 will be singer Brandy Norwood, actor Kyle Massey, actress Jennifer Grey and teen activist Bristol Palin.

"Gosh, it was unfair," Warner said of his exit to reporters with faux outrage on the post show press line.

On a serious note, he added, "We all think it's unfair when we get kicked off the show. We felt for a long time that we should have gotten better scores than we did so, yes, you're disappointed when [this happens.] I'm just glad it's me and not one of the other guys [who's going home.] I don't want anyone to have to go."

'Dancing With the Stars:' Who Went Home in Week 8?

by Sharon Knolle, posted Nov 10th 2010 1:33AM
"This is shaping up to be an interesting semi-final," Tom Bergeron said of the four couples headed to the next phase of the competition.

Of the unlucky star going home Tuesday night, Bergeron noted that the standing ovation from the in-studio audience for the exiting duo was "well-deserved."

Monday night's feud between Carrie Ann Inaba and Maks Chmerkovskiy continued, with Chmerkovskiy sniping "let's do our jobs, I'm trying to do mine" and Inaba telling the pro to "let it go."

Did Chmerkovskiy's temper doom him and partner Brandy? Was this the week bottom of the leaderboard regular Bristol Palin's luck ran out?

Keep reading to see who's done dancing and who'll continue on to the semi-finals.

On the 'DWTS' Scene: How Did Bristol Palin Turn It Around?

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 26th 2010 10:55AM
Bristol Palin, Mark BallasA series of surprises on 'Dancing With the Stars' could leave Bristol Palin on the show's ballot until November.

For starters, the teen activist and partner Mark Ballas earned their highest score yet with a 23 for their tango Monday night. They also picked up an additional 4 points during a group competition, which gives them a 5 point lead over the show's bottom-scoring couple.

"I realized if I wasn't going to go all out this week, that I'd be going home," Palin told TV Squad after the show's taping. "So I put everything I had into this dance and worked my butt off! Messing up last week could have destroyed me or given me more motivation and it did [the latter.]"

'Dancing With the Stars' Season 11, Episode 11 Recap

by Michael Pascua, posted Oct 26th 2010 9:00AM
Bret Michaels teaches Kurt Warner the art of Rock['Dancing with the Stars' - 'Rock n' Roll Week']

You knew this episode of 'Dancing with the Stars' was going to be really cheesy when Brooke used the phrase "Solid Steel Concert Style Set." After seeing Nicole & Derek's successful paso -- which we got to see again tonight -- I was really hoping that the term "Rock n' Roll" would refer to '50s-related dances, but no luck there.

It's interesting to note that no contestant this season has gotten a perfect 30. Although Brandy is inching closer, there still hasn't been a performance that even comes close to America's top ten favorite dances, which were revealed last night.

A Dance Marathon on 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 26th 2010 5:04AM
A Dane Marathon on 'Dancing With the Stars'It was Rock 'n' Roll night on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC), and for the episode's finale, the contestants found themselves stuck between a rock ... and a hard place. 'DWTS' abandoned its traditional format to feature a dance marathon. The contestants all had to get out on the dance floor together, and there was nowhere to hide.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

During the marathon, the judges eliminated the players one by one. The last couple standing would gain an additional ten points for the night. Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had the highest score from the regular portion of the evening -- they got 26 points out of 30 for their rendition of the tango. But this success wouldn't necessarily translate to the more endurance-focused marathon segment.

On the 'DWTS' Scene: Florence Henderson Remembers the Late Robert Reed

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 19th 2010 11:00AM
Florence Henderson, Corky BallasLast week, 'Dancing With the Stars' producers weren't sure if they could get the rights to 'The Brady Bunch' theme song for Florence Henderson (aka Carol Brady) and pro partner Corky Ballas to use during their TV theme week performance.

As viewers saw last night, the song was approved. While it wasn't perhaps the best tune to tango to, it did have great sentimental value to Henderson.

"The reason I really wanted to dance to the 'Brady Bunch' theme was because I wanted to dedicate it to Bob," Henderson told TV Squad on the post-show press line, referring to the late Robert Reed (who played her TV husband Mike Brady.)

"To lose him to AIDS [in 1992] broke all of our hearts. The fact that Barry [Williams, Greg] was here and knows how close we all were to Bob ... that was my dedication tonight."

On the Scene: Will Florence Henderson Dance to the 'Brady Bunch' Theme on 'DWTS'?

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 12th 2010 1:00PM
Florence Henderson on 'Dancing With the Stars'More about this week's performance show of 'Dancing With the Stars' in a bit, but here's a great reason to already get excited about next week's performances: The stars and their dancing pro partners will be performing routines to hit TV show theme songs.

A few couples revealed what song they'll be dancing to on the post-show press line, but it's up in the air if the most natural choice, Florence Henderson and Corky Ballas twirling to the theme song from 'The Brady Bunch,' is going to happen. First, the duo has to survive tonight's elimination show. Second, the song needs to go through certain legal clearances so it can be used on the show.

Henderson told TV Squad, "We're hoping [we dance to 'The Brady Bunch' theme]. I can't imagine that they would not [clear it.]" Of course, as her partner, Ballas, pointed out, "But first, we have to get saved."

On the Scene: Are the 'Dancing With the Stars' Judges Getting ... Nicer?

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 5th 2010 10:30AM
Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli Were the 'Dancing With the Stars?' judges a bit kinder on Monday night's week 3?

The stars and dancers think so, but not because Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli were trying to make up for being extremely harsh on Michael Bolton last week. (Bolton was ejected after dancing a disappointing jive that Bruno called the worst in 11 seasons of 'DWTS.')

"Last week some of the comments were definitely harsh," said Anna Trebunskaya. "This week everyone got scared of those comments so they worked really hard and we had a great show as a result. We [all] did our absolute best."

'Dancing With the Stars' pro Trebunskaya told TV Guide that she and Warner could take the trophy home.

"Kurt's working really hard and has made a lot of strides in the past week alone," Trebunskaya said.

The judges have also noticed Warner's progress. "I definitely feel that his musicality, as Carrie Ann [Inaba] noticed, has improved the most," she said. "He's used to zoning out 50,000 people and not hearing any sound when he played football."

Dancing With the Stars Cast
The first night jitters are officially out of the way. Twelve stars and their celebrity pro partners took to the dance floor and performed either a Cha-Cha or a Viennese Waltz on the 'Dancing With the Stars' season 11 opening night show. Actress Jennifer Grey, singer Brandy Norwood and athletes Rick Fox and Kurt Warner performed well -- as expected -- but the surprise of the night was teen actor Kyle Massey, who brought to mind a young Warren Sapp (Kym Johnson's season 7 partner) when he performed a dynamite dance with Lacey Schwimmer.

TV Squad was on the post-show press line to get reactions from all 24 participants. For one unlucky couple, alas, it's their second-to-last interview, because tonight one duo is going home.

Did the flex schedule boomerang on the NBC football game?

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 7th 2009 4:15PM
tom_brady_nflAbout 18 million or so folks tuned in to NBC's Sunday Night Football Game last night, the Minnesota Vikings versus the Arizona Cardinals. That's a really good number, but it wasn't the boffo bonanza NBC had in mind when they used the NFL flex schedule option to choose Bret Favre over Tom Brady.

When I wrote about the flex schedule last week, a lot of reader comments said that NBC decision made perfect sense because the Vikings-Card game would be a bigger draw than the Patriots-Dolphins.

Well, guess what happened? The Favre game turned out to be a bust. The Cardinals, led by Kurt Warner, shredded the Vikings and won handily 30-17. It wasn't close and the ratings diminished from the second half on.
