Larry King Previews His 'Dinner With the Kings' CNN Special (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Dec 2nd 2011 7:15PM
When Larry King's CNN show ended last year, he entered into semi-retirement with a deal to create four specials per year for the network. Friday on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) King previewed his final special of 2011, 'Dinner with the Kings,' which airs this Sunday. His dinner guests will be Conan O'Brien, Russell Brand, Tyra Banks and Shaquille O'Neal, among others.

King was struck with the idea for the special about a year-and-a-half ago when he assembled a disparate group of celebrities together for a dinner party: Barry Bonds, Ryan Seacrest and Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim were all in attendance. No one knew each other, but everyone got along. Thus, 'Dinner with the Kings' was born.

Larry King Gives Geoff the Robot a Voice And a Brain on 'Late Late Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 11th 2011 5:00AM
Larry King as Geoff, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'Geoff wore suspenders to honor his new voice for the night, as Larry King stepped in to provide the words for late night's only mechanical sidekick on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). Right away, you could tell he wasn't used to playing second banana.

When Ferguson did call on him, King had thoughtful and somewhat lengthy responses, which is a far cry from Geoff's usual jokes and innuendos.

"You didn't want this, did you?" King said via Geoff. "You didn't want a robot who thinks. You didn't want someone who creates of his own mind." Ferguson may not have wanted it, but we did. King's banter with Ferguson was hilarious from beginning to end.

That was where King's career found itself Tuesday on 'Access,' a situation which he playfully poked fun at.

"I got up for this?" joked King. "What is this? My career has come to this. I'm a cutaway."

Larry King Live, Betty White, Sarah PalinIf anyone can save the mediocrity that is 'Saturday Night Live,' it's Betty White, who appeared on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN) to talk about her upcoming hosting duties, which she says "came out of nowhere."

White also put her previous comment that Sarah Palin is "a crazy bitch" in context. It was on 'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson,' and they were doing a sketch in which she called Palin the B-word. Ok, we'll go with that, Betty.

Corey Feldman Discusses Corey Haim on 'Larry King' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 11th 2010 12:01AM
Larry King Live, Corey Feldman on Corey Haim's DeathWe were saddened to hear the news of Corey Haim's passing earlier today. Corey Feldman appeared on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN) to talk about his best friend. The two co-starred in several projects, including 1987's 'The Lost Boys,' a vampire flick that developed a cult following.

While Feldman appreciates the good wishes of everyone, he wonders where they've been for the past ten years of Haim's life. He also encouraged people to stop jumping the gun on his death.

"They need to stop saying it's a drug overdose, because at the end of the day, until the coroner's report comes out, until we have specific evidence, until we know exactly what the toxicology reports say, nobody knows."

'Big Love' - 'End of Days' Recap

Bill Paxton as Bill Hendrickson on
(S04E09) "I'm Bill Henrickson, and I believe in the principle of plural marriage. I am a polygamist." - from Bill's acceptance speech

With those very words, Bill released his family from four seasons of hiding and seclusion and finally brought his lifestyle and faith out in the open in a way very few fans could have seen coming. It was bound to go public somehow someway, but no one could have predicted it would have been on the steps of the state capitol as he accepts the keys to a state senate office.

So why did it feel so unfulfilling and empty?

The Dalai Lama Stops by 'Larry King Live' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 23rd 2010 6:30AM
Larry King Live, Dalai LamaIs it just us, or does it seem weird that the Dalai Lama would stop by 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN) to chat. Whatever, it's probably a good venue for the holy one to get his message out.

And that would be ... "to create better world, more compassionate world, peaceful world." Sounds like a plan. Wonder if President Obama had a beer with him when they got together.

Oh, by the way, contrary to popular belief, the Dalai Lama doesn't have healing powers. In fact, he had his gall bladder out a while back, so that pretty much confirms it.

James Cameron Talks 'Avatar' Sequel on 'Larry King' (VIDEO)

Larry King Live, James Cameron, Avatar sequelWith 'Avatar' poised to win an Oscar – or two or three – director James Cameron talked about the possibility of a sequel on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 6PM ET on CNN).

"I haven't started thinking about the story yet, although I have a general story arc for it," said Cameron. "But we have had some technical discussion of how we would do it."

Not only that, but we got to see how Larry King would look as a blue Na'vi. He's a little demon-ish, and now that we think about it, he'd probably pass for Lorne's slightly off-species second cousin on 'Angel.' Just think about it. That's all we ask.

The Twelve Days of Festivus: Nine on-air breakdowns

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 15th 2009 11:00AM
Glenn BeckOn the ninth day of Festivus, TV gave to me... nine on-air breakdowns.

Director Alfred Hitchcock once said, "Television has done much for psychiatry by spreading information about it, as well as contributing to the need for it."

Yes, having a camera stuck in your face for an hour or more a day must take a toll on your sanity. Your privacy is virtually limited. Your every move is scrutinized and criticized by faceless meanies. Your therapist is one session away from owning his own fishing trawler.

It's only a matter of time before the grasp of sanity is clipped away like a loose thread on a homemade snowman sweater and you turn into a blubbering, snotty, incoherent mess for all the world to enjoy. These are the personalities who lost it and may or may not have gained whatever "it" is back.

Larry King's 10-Year-Old Son to Host 'Kid Pitch'

by Elizabeth Chan, posted Nov 20th 2009 1:00PM
Chance and Connor King, sons of Larry King Chance King, 10-year-old son of talk-show titan Larry King, is living up to his family name.

Access Hollywood has confirmed that lil' King will host Fox Sports Net's 'Kid Pitch.' The show will be directed by actor Tom Arnold, former co-host of the 'Best Damn Sports Show Period.'

Either Papa King has made his little boy's dream come true, or Tom Arnold has scored the most wicked babysitting job disguised as a sports show. Either way, taping of 'Kid Pitch' is set to begin in February 2010. Chance's 8-year-old brother, Cannon, is also set to make appearances on the show.

For all you naysayers, a decade is a long time to absorb everything possible about baseball. Plus, it has been rumored that Chance will schedule his guests based on his best baseball card trades of the week (don't laugh! he's a King and it's an awesome collection). Considering that all we need to know in life we learned in kindergarten already, Chance is clearly beyond that grade.
