Letterman Presses Herman Cain on Sexual Harassment Allegations (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 19th 2011 1:45PM

David Letterman started off his 'Late Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) interview with Herman Cain by making fun of himself. "I'm no stranger to sexual scandal," he said, which drew a big chuckle from Cain. But then Letterman got serious about the sexual harassment allegations that have been leveled against Cain by several women, asking him if he would drop out of the race if they were proven true.

"One of two things will happen ... you'll be exonerated just like Justin Bieber ... or they will prevail and there will be somebody else coming forward" with documentation and more evidence. "Now will you resign if that's the case?" he asked.

Cain continued to deny that he had done anything wrong. "Let's be very clear about the allegations that have already been made. The reason that I went front and center in front of the media is that I knew there wasn't anything to it. There's no further documentation has come up. So we have moved on."

Then Letterman got even more incredulous. "So these statement are all false. All of these women are lying. They're all lying. They are all lying," he repeated.

Top 5 Clips of the Week: Nancy Grace Nip Slip, Urkel in the 'House' & More (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 2nd 2011 1:30PM

This week in TV clips was at times horrifying, but ended on a positive note. Last week's 'X Factor Flashing' gave way to the Nancy Grace nip slip. And then Andy Rooney retired, which inspired outpouring of mash-ups saluting his career in grumpy old man musings. Both Ed Helms and Seth Rogen got Jersey Turnpiked by the 'Jersey Shore.' But then Jaleel White came back into our TV lives and set everything back right in the world.

Check out some of our favorite clips from the week that was in TV and vote for your favorite in our weekly poll.

Simon Pegg Tells Fallon That Steven Spielberg Beat Him Up (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 14th 2011 6:35AM
Simon PeggSimon Pegg stopped by 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC) to talk about his new movie, 'The Adventures of Tintin.'

To get the look of the original 'Tintin' comic books, director Steven Spielberg shot the movie using motion-capture computer animation.

This meant that Pegg and his B.F.F. Nick Frost -- who play the identical Thompson Twins -- both had to wear really tight-fitting suits. The sight was "not that pretty," according to Pegg.

However, tight suits aside, the most exciting part of the shoot for sci-fi fanatic Pegg was getting to grips with his idol Spielberg and co-star Andy Serkis. Literally. When Spielberg was explaining to Serkis how to rough up Pegg's character he grabbed Pegg and started shaking him around. Then Serkis joined in and started shaking him.

'Saturday Night Live' - Elton John Recap

by Dr. Ryan Vaughan, PhD (no, seriously), posted Apr 3rd 2011 10:30AM
Elton John hosted 'SNL' on April 2, 2011
['Saturday Night Live' - 'Season 36, Episode 18']

I'll be honest, I was not aware that Elton John was still alive. But since dead people don't host late night television variety shows -- they do go to parties in sunglasses and Hawaiian shirts -- we were treated to a night of music and reverie.

It's always interesting when someone like Sir Elton hosts. He is certainly a musical and pop-cultural icon, but is he funny? If anyone saw his 2001 Grammy performance with Eminem, you know he has the potential to be hilarious. In the end, though, it shouldn't matter who the host is. It's the job of the writers and performers to pinpoint the host's comedic strengths and weaknesses, and to exploit them to the fullest. The best athletes make their teammates better. The best teachers make their students better. The best writers should make Elton John better.

Craig Ferguson on Stand-Up, Theme Shows and Sitting Out the Late-Night Wars

by Joel Keller, posted Feb 18th 2011 11:30AM
'Craig Ferguson: Does This Need to Be Said?' on Epix
Craig Ferguson has said it before, and he's sticking with his story: He is definitely not interested in starting or participating in another Late Night War.

"In order for there to be a war there would have to be something here that I was desirous of capturing. And there isn't," he told me yesterday.

On 'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson' every weeknight, he gets to dance to a modified 'Doctor Who' theme, banter with a robotic sidekick and pull out naughty puppets whenever he wants. And his improvisational monologue and casual, off-the-cuff interview style has drawn raves. Of all the late-night hosts, Ferguson seems to be the most comfortable in his own hosting skin.

Calling in to promote his new stand-up special, 'Craig Ferguson: Does This Need to Be Said?', which premieres on the EPIX network Saturday at 8PM ET, we talked about the way he writes stand-up, his love of dancing to Britney Spears, and how he really sees himself. But first, there was a need to congratulate him on a big event in his life.
