by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 8th 2011 7:45AM
Ballet on 'The Colbert Report'Stephen Colbert is a man of many, many talents, but who know he was such a great ballet dancer? Last night 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights., 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) host showed off some truly impressive jumps and twirls as he managed to keep up with American Ballet Theater star David Hallberg.

He even managed a lift before receiving a well-deserved ovation from the studio audience. As he took a bow, they cheered and threw flowers onto the stage, just like they would at the ABT.

Imagining Herman Cain vs. Lord Voldemort on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 8th 2011 7:30AM
Ralph Fiennes, 'Daily Show'Last night classically trained actor Ralph Fiennes -- a.k.a. Lord Voldemort in the 'Harry Potter' movies -- stopped by 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights., 11PM ET on Comedy Central) and, frankly, things got a little weird.

Host Jon Stewart asked Fiennes for his opinion on who would win in the unlikely event that former GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain went up against Voldemort: "If they were in a sword fight, in your mind, who would be the victor?"

Fiennes pondered this briefly before saucily quipping, "Depends on the length of the wand."

Jim Parsons Was Duped into Hugs and Kisses With a Fan (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 1st 2011 3:00AM
Jim Parsons, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'One of two things will happen after Jim Parsons' appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC). Either the woman who ran up and abruptly hugged and kissed him as if she knew him will never get away with that particular move on a celebrity again, or this will become a new trend for star-spotters.

All you have to do is run up to them, as this woman did, and scream out their name like you're a long lost friend. As Parsons explained, "She comes up and pretends that she knows you and you're too nice to be rude and go, 'Who the hell are you?'"

Oh, we just thought of a third possibility. Celebrities might decide they need to be ruder to strangers just in case it's this woman lying in wait, or someone who wants to emulate her technique.

Chelsea Round Table Talks Alleged Herman Cain Affair (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 30th 2011 6:00AM
Kerri Kenney-Silver, 'Chelsea Lately'With allegations now of a long-term affair with Ginger White, the 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!) round table tackled the latest bomb to rock the Herman Cain campaign. In the process, they dropped a bit of a bombshell of their own.

Kerri Kenney-Silver couldn't understand why these women were coming forward like this was a great club to be a part of. "I mean, yes, I used to date Herman Cain," she said. "I'm not proud of it. It's not like I'm going on national television to talk about it."

To quote Rick Perry: "Oops."

Looking across the entire Republican field of contenders, Sarah Colonna had a much simpler theory. "I feel like we're being 'Punk'd,'" she said.

NBC Apologizes to Michele Bachmann for 'Late Night' Walk On Music

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 24th 2011 6:00AM
Jimmy Fallon apologized to Congresswoman Michele Bachmann Tuesday night for the fact that his 'Late Night' house band The Roots played a snippet of a 1985 Fishbone song called 'Lyin' Ass B*tch' as she was introduced on the show.

Bachmann accepted his apology but demanded one from NBC as well. Doing the rounds of TV and radio talk shows Wednesday Bachmann alleged that NBC's failure to act in the matter demonstrated that she was a victim "of bias from the Hollywood Entertainment elite."

Now the AP reports that the GOP Presidential candidate has received an apology from NBC. According to Bachmann's spokeswoman Alice Stewart, the network's vice president for late night programming, Doug Vaughan, wrote to her offering his most sincere apologies.

Wilford Brimley is a Tough Interview For Craig Ferguson (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 24th 2011 3:00AM
Wilford Brimley, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'Craig Ferguson loves playful banter with his guests. And he and Geoff have had a lot of fun doing their Wilford Brimley impressions on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), so it should have been a lot of fun to have the mustachioed one on himself.

Unfortunately, the 77-year old actor was very short in most of his responses, leaving little room for banter. When asked what kind of horse he had, Brimley's curt response was, "A brown one."

He did reveal that he doesn't like people, which is why he's living in Wyoming. You know, '60 Minutes' has an opening for an old curmudgeon, and Brimley's mustache is at least as long as Andy Rooney's eyebrows were.

Justin Bieber Has a Better Story Than the One About Him Fathering a Child (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 24th 2011 2:00AM
Justin Bieber, 'Late Show with David Letterman'Justin Bieber has a better story than the one Mariah Yeater has been telling about him fathering her child. On 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET On CBS), he said he'd preferred the story be "Justin Bieber ran away with a 20-year old supermodel."

What will Selena Gomez say? She's still only 19!

Bieber also had to school David Letterman on how far medical technology has come. Letterman thought Bieber might have been unconscious when he gave a DNA sample, but it was a simple swab in the cheek.

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 23rd 2011 8:33AM
Michele Bachmann on 'Late Night''Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' house band The Roots sparked controversy Monday night when, as guest Michele Bachmann was introduced, they played a snippet of a 1985 Fishbone song called 'Lyin' Ass B*tch.'

On Tuesday Bachmann's Democratic colleague, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (New York), protested the choice of song and issued a statement calling on NBC to apologize.

After Monday night's show Jimmy Fallon joked that bandleader Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson had been reprimanded, tweeting "@questlove is grounded." However, Tuesday night he went further and apologized: "I'm honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I'm so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back."

Chelsea Handler Asks Miss Piggy About Sex With Kermit (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 22nd 2011 3:30AM
Miss Piggy of the Muppets, 'Chelsea Lately'This is the way we like our Muppets. They need to be interacting with the real world as if they are real themselves. So why not have them hit the promotional circuit just as much as Jason Segel to promote their new movie, as Miss Piggy does here on 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!).

Of course, this is Chelsea Handler, so the questions inevitably turned to sex. But when Handler wanted to know how far she and Kermit had gone, Piggy proved a master at interviews, by cleverly evading the question. It's a completely inappropriate question, after all, and more importantly -- we don't really want to know the answer!

Robin Williams and Craig Ferguson Talk Offending With Comedy (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 18th 2011 4:15AM
Robin Williams, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'Robin Williams and Craig Ferguson both know a thing or two about offending people. In this modern era of instant Internet feedback, it seems it's getting harder and harder to not offend people. Which is why, according to Ferguson 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), you stick with Nazi jokes.

Williams modified that claim, though, with one caveat. It doesn't work if you're in Germany, as he found out first-hand. On a talk show, he was asked why he thought there aren't as many comedians in Germany.

"Did you ever think you tried to kill all the funny people?" he replied. The answer was not received with laughter.

Denise Richards Tells 'Chelsea Lately' How She Manages Charlie Sheen (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2011 4:30AM
Denise Richards, 'Chelsea Lately'When Denise Richards told Chelsea Handler that Charlie Sheen is a big fan of 'Chelsea Lately' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on E!), Handler had a response for him ... since she could assume he was watching.

"Go f*** yourself!" she said directly into the camera. She was kidding, of course. But she was serious in wondering how Richards could have such a calm relationship with someone who "can be such a hot mess."

"I keep it about the kids," Richards said. "I think it's important for them to see us get along." And for as long as she can, she feels they should be protected from some of Sheen's more eccentric behavior, while not keeping them completely away from their father.

Elijah Wood and Stephen Colbert Compare 'LOTR' Sting Swords (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2011 4:00AM
Elijah Wood, 'The Colbert Report'Elijah Wood may have come on to 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central) to promote his work on 'Happy Feet Two,' but he knew that the conversation would eventually make its way to Middle Earth. Stephen Colbert is absolutely one of the biggest 'Lord of the Rings' fans on the planet.

As a treat, Wood brought one of the actual Sting swords he used during the filming of the trilogy, but of course Colbert already has one, presented to him by director Peter Jackson. So the two squared off in an impossible Sting vs. Sting battle. It's too bad no orcs were nearby so both swords could glow.

Jon Stewart Presents the Defense Jerry Sandusky Should Have Used (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 16th 2011 3:30AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'After hearing Jerry Sandusky being interviewed by Bob Costas about his alleged inappropriate contact with young boys, Jon Stewart was stunned on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) by his weak defense.

"Sandusky: You're a defensive coordinator," he said. "You should have been able to coordinate a better defense."

When asked by Costas if he was attracted to young boys, the former Penn State coach didn't vehemently deny it. Instead, he gave a meandering response that did deny attraction, but not as definitively as it probably should have. So Stewart presented a defense Sandusky should maybe have implemented two decades ago.

Rick Perry Presents Top 10 Excuses For Debate 'Oops!' on 'Late Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 11th 2011 6:30AM
Rick Perry, 'Late Show with David Letterman'After forgetting the third government agency he wants to get rid of at this week's debate, Rick Perry has been doing the TV talk show damage control tour. Last night it was the turn of the 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), where Perry tried his hand at comedy.

The 'Top 10 Rick Perry Excuses' had some funny moments, and a nervous-looking Perry started off okay, but mostly he seemed stiff and uncomfortable.

We liked his riffs on Mitt Romney -- "You try concentrating with Mitt Romney smiling at you. That is one handsome dude!" -- and Herman Cain -- "I wanted to help take the heat off my buddy" -- but our advice to Governor Perry is: Don't quit the day job for stand-up.

Jon Stewart Wonders If Adam Sandler Makes Any Decisions For Himself (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 11th 2011 4:00AM
Adam Sandler, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Any chance of talking about 'Jack & Jill' went right out the door when Adam Sandler walked onto 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) wearing a thick brown corduroy shirt. He explained that he was wearing it for his wife, who'd decided it was time he updated his look.

He went on to say that he'd hoped to stick around New York to catch the Jets game, but that his wife and kids told him that he could watch the game on television back in LA, so he was headed home instead. This led Jon Stewart to wonder when the last time was that Adam Sandler made a decision for himself.

According to Sandler, the sweet spot for independence is between 1AM and 6AM. That's when he's a wild man!
