Jim Parsons Says Watching 'Real Housewives' Makes Him Really Uncomfortable (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 13th 2011 7:45AM
Jim Parsons, 'Late Late Show'Craig Ferguson was grilling Jim Parsons about his TV viewing habits on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS) when he discovered that the 'Big Bang Theory' star is not a fan of reality TV shows.

Parsons said he can't watch 'Real Housewives,' for example, because "I find it very upsetting. ... It makes me really uncomfortable."

Ferguson's obviously not a 'Real Housewives' fan either, referring to it as "a really terrible product." However, it doesn't seem to provoke the same remote-grabbing reaction from him. Parsons' dislike of the show is so great that even if he's just walking past a TV showing it, he just has to change the channel immediately.

Jenna Elfman Loves Getting to Make Out With 'Cute Boys' on Movie Sets (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 21st 2011 9:15AM
Jenna Elfman and Craig FergusonThere are certain perks to being a movie star, and Jenna Elfman has been very lucky to enjoy one of the big ones. "I get to make out with awesome guys a lot," she said on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS).

Luckily, her husband of 20 years is also in the acting business, so he understands. As strange as it is that Elfman says she tells her husband, "I'm gonna go make out with him today," about whoever her co-star is, at the same time it makes for a good level of honesty in their marriage.

"Am I supposed to pretend that I don't like making out with all these cute boys when I come home?" Elfman asked Craig Ferguson. "I cannot live with those secrets."

That statement probably has a lot to do with why her husband is so okay with what she does. She's so completely open and honest in their relationship, how could he not trust her implicitly?

by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 9th 2010 10:45AM
Jennifer Love HewittJennifer Love Hewitt stopped by 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' (weeknights, 12:35AM ET on CBS) to clear up a few rumors.

The star of 'Ghost Whisperer' wanted to set the record straight on a gossip item: She is not dating Burt Reynolds, the two just happened to be having dinner at the same restaurant. Hewitt hasn't even met the actor. However, if she had met Reynolds, Ferguson said she'd be singing a different tune.

"If you met him, you'd be ... like, 'I'd be happy to date Burt Reynolds,'" Ferguson said. "Because I've met Burt Reynolds and I'm straight but I was like, 'I'd go gay for you, Burt.'" Ferguson's reason? Reynolds' hair. Interesting indeed ...

by Laura Prudom, posted Mar 31st 2010 2:30PM
GleeDon't stop believing, 'Glee' fans: It seems that critics and awards bodies are every bit as hooked on the show as the rest of us, with the prestigious Peabody Awards the latest in a long line to honor the musical dramedy.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, 'Glee' was one of 36 outstanding series, documentaries, websites and news reports that the distinguished group spotlighted as the best in electronic media for 2009, during a ceremony held at the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication on Mar. 31.

Other Peabody winners included ABC's hilarious sitcom 'Modern Family,' HBO's taut therapy-session drama 'In Treatment,' and 'Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,' which was described by the board as "a talk show without borders," for its Desmond Tutu edition.

Jay Leno's 'Tonight Show' Return Is a Ratings Winner

by Gary Susman, posted Mar 2nd 2010 2:30PM
Jay LenoMeet the new boss, same as the old boss.

To no one's surprise, Jay Leno's much-heralded return to 'The Tonight Show' on Monday was a ratings success, at least according to early overnight numbers. According to the Hollywood Reporter, advance numbers show Leno winning his timeslot with a 5.4 rating in metered market households and a rating of 2.0 among adults 18-49. That easily beat the 3.0 household rating for 'The Late Show With David Letterman' on CBS and the ABC ratings (cited by Entertainment Weekly) of 3.4 for 'Nightline' and 1.8 for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.'

Leno's return had coattails too. Following 'Tonight,' NBC's 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' posted a 2.1 rating, twice its fourth-quarter 2009 average and enough to beat usual timeslot victor 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' by 40 percent.

Did Craig Ferguson Ditch Audience to Save Money? Rep Calls Charge "Laughable"

by Gary Susman, posted Feb 26th 2010 4:10PM
As brilliant an hour of television as Craig Ferguson's Tuesday night show was - featuring just Craig and a single guest, fellow wit and raconteur Stephen Fry, chatting for an hour before no audience - could it be that the episode was less an experiment in reviving old-school Tom Snyder/Dick Cavett-style TV conversation and more an experiment in cutting costs?

That was the spin according to a report from Radar Online. The website quotes an unnamed insider as saying that 'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson' has to pay audience members $20 each to fill some 50 seats at each night's taping, that such a practice is unique among late-night talk shows, and that Tuesday's show was more about saving CBS $1,000 on seat-fillers than about creating a more highbrow hour of television.

AOL TV did some digging of our own and found that, while there is a kernel of truth to this story -- CBS does sometimes pay seat-fillers to attend 'Late Late Show' tapings -- it's not a unique practice, though it's also not a routine one at the 'Late Late Show,' and was not the reason for taping Tuesday's show in an empty studio.

Eddie Izzard Shows Up on 'Craig Ferguson' (VIDEO)

Craig Ferguson, Eddie Izzard, Liza MinnelliEddie Izzard showed up unexpectedly on 'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). Ordinarily, you'd think these two guys getting together would be a barrel of monkeys, but the joke about the cardboard faces on sticks sort of fell flat.

Ok, we'll admit that Liza Minnelli as Craig Ferguson's face was mildly amusing. But the chemistry/geography/mathematics bit just flatlined for us. Your take?

Stephen Fry Craig Ferguson has a thing for America. As a new citizen, his love of the country runs deep, but he's not alone when British patriot Stephen Fry is around. During an experimental audience-free version of 'Late Late show with Craig Ferguson' (weeknights, 12:35 AM ET on CBS) that was just Fry and Ferguson chatting like old friends, resident alien Fry said, "I absolutely adore this country. Like you, I feel like I can live here for the rest of my life." Now all Fry needs to do is get a tattoo as sweet as Ferguson's Benjamin Franklin inspired one.

Craig Ferguson, Parker PoseyOn 'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS), Parker Posey told a story about a dream she had with a counting sheep. The sheep was counting, not her.

Ok, the story was totally lame, except for the part where Craig Ferguson called it sexy. "If you're Scottish, it's a sexy dream." We swear, Ferguson is always much more entertaining than his guests.

What Does the Jay Leno Shake-Up Mean for David Letterman?

by Gary Susman, posted Jan 12th 2010 2:00PM
David Letterman was in rare form last night, firing off merciless fusillades of jokes about the late-night woes of his former network NBC and his longtime rival Jay Leno. But Leno could have the last laugh if NBC gets to remake its late-night schedule the way it wants to. And Letterman could be the one who suffers the most from the new arrangement.

Letterman is currently riding high in the late-night ratings wars, easily beating new timeslot rival Conan O'Brien. That could change, however, if, as NBC hopes, Leno takes the half-hour from 11:35PM to 12:05AM, followed by O'Brien's 'Tonight Show' and then, at 1:05AM, 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.'

Carrie Fisher spent last Christmas with Michael Jackson

by Jane Boursaw, posted Sep 4th 2009 12:22AM
Carrie Fisher - On the LotEver notice how goofy celebrities seem to gravitate towards each other? Ok, me either, but maybe that's because most celebrities are goofy in one way or another.

Got a note from CBS tonight with a fun little advance tidbit from The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Carrie Fisher tells a story about her brush with Michael Jackson, who was laid to rest today.

"They came to me to go on a travel junket for talking about Michael (Jackson), because I was with him on his last Christmas," the actress tells Ferguson. "”It was fantastic. He had a big tree, and I did the Princess Leia monologue for his children. Yeah, I got paid. …No, no, I got paid nothing. But I got a lot of it, and also he got me a cell phone.”"
