Len Goodman Speaks Out on His 'Dancing' Feud With Maks Chmerkovskiy (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 25th 2011 2:00PM
Everyone's buzzing about the feud that erupted between Maks Chmerkovskiy and 'Dancing With the Stars' judge Len Goodman when Maks forcefully pushed back against Goodman's critique of his latest dance with Hope Solo.

Goodman stopped by 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC) to offer his perspective on the argument. "How often, in the heat of the moment, we say things that the next day we think 'why did I say that?'" he asked. "Maks is going through that right now."

Goodman isn't taking the back-and-forth personally, though. "I like Maks, we're good buddies, we play golf together," Goodman noted, before taking a jab at Maks' golf-swing. He then further clarified the judges' role on 'DWTS.' "What they've got to understand is ... they're on trial, and we're the judges. You can't be a judge at your own trial," Goodman said.

Does 'DWTS' Head Judge Len Goodman Need a Vacation?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 25th 2011 9:20AM
Len Goodman, 'DWTS'Is the strain of his heavy workload and weekly transatlantic commute starting to take its toll on 'Dancing With the Stars' head judge Len Goodman? He and Bruno Tonioli have a punishing schedule, pulling double duty judging 'DWTS' during the week, and then flying back to the UK to judge the BBC's 'Strictly Come Dancing' at the weekend.

Now Len's had blow-ups with pro dancers on both shows in the space of just a few days. Is he crankier than usual? Last night he and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had a major falling out after Maks interrupted Len's harsh critique of his rumba. That bust up followed a furious on-air altercation with 'Strictly' dancer James Jordan on Saturday night, during which Len told him, "All you have to do is turn up, keep up and shut up."

Is an irascible Len overdue for a vacation? Well, luckily for him he'd already booked one before it got nasty on the dancefloor(s). It's been announced that Len is taking a week off from 'Strictly' next month, and subbing-in for him as guest judge on Nov. 5 and 6 will be none other than 'DWTS' Season 11 champ, Jennifer Grey.

Maks vs. Len: 'Dancing With the Stars' Contestants Speak Out

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 25th 2011 6:15AM
Maks and Hope Solo, 'DWTS'The oft-shirtless Maksim Chmerkovskiy's always filled the role of 'Dancing With the Stars' bad boy, and he can be relied upon to have at least one big outburst each season, with his anger usually directed toward head judge Len Goodman. Last night he reached boiling point and again lashed out at Len after he criticized Maks' and partner Hope Solo's rumba.

When Maks questioned Len's credentials, the head judge said "I've been in this business for nearly 50 years," to which Maks quipped "Maybe it's time to go." Things escalated after Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli tried to intervene, and Maks said "Everybody on that balcony has been dying and killing themselves only to hear your guy's a little judgmental comments [sic]. ... I am not being disrespectful, I'm protecting my partner."

Up until that point it was just between Maks and the judges, but then did the Ukrainian take it too far? When he told host Brooke Charvet that "With all due respect, this is my show, I help make it what it is," the look on fellow pro dancer Derek Hough's face in the background was priceless. So, what did the other dancers think of his outburst? And does Maks regret saying what he did?

'Dancing With the Stars' Week 6: Maks & Len Have a Major Fallout

by Crystal Bell, posted Oct 24th 2011 11:40PM
Oh Maks, sometimes you need to really hold in your feisty temper. Maks definitely brought the drama to 'Dancing With the Stars' this week -- but not in the way you're probably thinking. In fact, I don't think anyone saw this coming.

Maks and Len had a total fall-out in the ballroom this week, after Len criticized Hope, calling her rumba "her worst dance of the whole season." Well, Maks didn't quite like that and riled up the already cheering crowd, interrupting Len's critique. That's when Len snapped.

You see, Len gets the reputation for being the most critical judge for a reason. He actually judges for skill, and as he pointed out, he's been doing it for quite some time now. And that's where Maks decided to tell Len that maybe it was time for him to quit. His exact words: "Maybe it's time to go!" Oh snap.

'DWTS' Judge Len Goodman Really Enjoyed Kendra's Table Dance Last Night

by Michael Maloney, posted Apr 27th 2011 1:30PM
Kendra, Dancing With the Stars'Dancing With the Stars' fans are used to hearing provocative comments (not to mention witnessing some outlandish body movements) from judge Bruno Tonioli, but this season fellow judge Len Goodman is getting a few remarks in himself. So far he's commented on Cheryl Burke's "Rocky Mountains," Wendy Williams' "dumplings," and Kendra Wilkinson's "chesticles" -- and that was before the reality star hopped onto the judges' table for TV's raciest tabletop dance since Drew Barrymore jumped up on David Letterman's desk and flashed the late night talk show host.

Is Goodman trying to give Tonioli a run for his money? Or, as host Brooke Burke theorized, are the judges trying to make up for the fact that this season of 'DWTS' is actually about the dancing more than it is "showmances" and controversial characters?

Goodman recently chatted with AOL TV about his remarks, whether he's attending the royal wedding later this week and how he thinks Wilkinson's provocative table dance can be topped. Warning: creepy uncle vibes abound.

Erin and Maksim Get in Trouble With a Judge on 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

Erin and Maksim Get in Trouble With a Judge on 'Dancing With the Stars'Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy remain coy about whether they're dating or not. But on 'Dancing With the Stars,' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC), the pair stood together. Judge Len Goodman was not a huge fan of their latest dance. Goodman said this to Andrews: "I've given you a '7' every week. ...You're going to get another '7' tonight." Chmerkovskiy did not seem pleased, and threw part of his costume in the direction of the judges' table. (Read what the stars had to say in our performance report.)

Kate Gosselin Tries to Show Some Emotion on 'Dancing with the Stars'Kate Gosselin apparently has a little pent-up emotion stored inside her. Maybe it's a result of her time on 'Jon & Kate Plus 8,' or maybe not. But at any rate, she's been having trouble expressing emotion while performing on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC). So Gosselin consulted with an acting coach in order to help let her inner feelings out.

Recap: Dancing with the Stars - Performance 10

Mya hopes her Paso Doble can win her over.(S09E20) It's the finals of Dancing with the Stars and the trophy was placed in front of the judge's table. Tom announces that three couples have three new dances; technically Mya was part of Team Paso Doble in week seven.

The second round was the megamix, and I would rather have them return to the group dance-off format. The three couples dancing at the same time was too much to handle. I missed individuality.

I was very disappointed with the Freestyle round. There's free reign and it didn't seem like anyone even took it. I was expecting Kelly to rock out and Mya to pull off a tasteful hip-hop piece. Alas, I got neither.

Mya and Dmitry's Salsa Earns 2nd Perfect Score on 'Dancing with the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Nov 17th 2009 9:23AM
R&B singer Mya and partner Dmitry Chaplin turned in a spicy rendition of the salsa on 'Dancing with the Stars' that earned them a perfect score, making this the second consecutive week the duo earned top marks for a dance number.

But for judge Len Goodman, the highlight of their performance was less about footwork, and more about a certain part of Mya's anatomy. "I've got to say, tutti frutti, what a booty," Goodman said. "I was mesmerized by your buttocks. I couldn't stop looking at them."

Recap: Dancing with the Stars - Performance 8

Joanna & Derek's paso doble.(S09E16) Dancing with the Stars is only two weeks away from the finals. With only five contestants left, each have to perform two dances to ensure that we fit the two hour block.

The two dances consist of one ballroom and one Latin routine. The biggest flaw with having two dances was that everyone spent all their time making sure that the Latin dance was amazing, and their ballroom dances felt lazy.

I'm shocked to see the seven paddle still around with only five contestants left. This season's quality level was nowhere near Shawn Johnson, Gilles Marini, and Melissa Rycroft last season.

Lacey drags a lifeless Mark across the dancefloor.(S09E12) Dancing with the Stars had the Waltz or Jitterbug for individual dancing, but the big twist tonight was the Mambo group competition. All the couples will dance the mambo at the same time. The judges determine the elimination: as the couples dance, Len holds up a paddle and that team is eliminated. The first couple cut gets two points while the last team standing earns ten.

As the contestants walk down, both Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower trip on the way down. It's a bad omen and never a good way to start the show.

Recap: Dancing with the Stars - Performance 5

Mya and Dmitry react to the judges(S09E10) After reading news about Derek Hough getting sick, we start Dancing with the Stars with Joanna walking down the stairs with Maksim Chmerkovskiy in hand. Turns out that flu-like symptoms hit Mark, as well, but he recovered quickly enough.

It's a night of passion and hi-jinks with the Argentine Tango, Paso Doble, and the Hustle. I was disappointed with the order. The last five solos consisted of four Argentine Tangos and one Paso Doble.

I don't often like complaining about Samantha Harris but I really have to suggest that she goes back to classic straight hair and tasteful dress. She's no Cat Deeley.

Dancing with the Stars: Performance 3

by Michael Pascua, posted Oct 6th 2009 2:20AM
Cheryl Burke and Tom DeLay on Dancing with the Stars(S9E06) I welcomed the return of Len Goodman on Dancing with the Stars because he separated the scores of the dances, by giving good performances two points less than they actually deserved. This week was a full Latin night with the Samba and Rumba.

When Chuck walked down the stairs I couldn't help but laugh at his arm frill, but Cheryl and Tom DeLay walked down as the American flag. I was laughing so hard that I didn't even notice that Debi's outfit killed all of Aaron Carter's Muppets.

There has been some drama with Tom DeLay's feet. Find out after the jump what happened to him.

Ashley Hamilton and his partner Edyta Sliwinska

(S09E03) Two nights, two eliminations, and a lot of unnecessary crap until the eliminations. Thus is the Dancing with the Stars elimination process. And we're live. Unfortunately, no outbursts from Macy Gray tonight.

Encore performance Kelly & Louis – Viennese Waltz – One thing that I loved about the performance was the way that they incorporated the dress into the performance. It still brings Sharon chills.

After a quick recap of the women's performance last night. The eliminations begin with the men first. The first two couples safe are Louie & Chelsie and Aaron & Karina.
