Susan Lucci Rejects 'All My Children' Online Offer: Report

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 6th 2011 4:45PM
Susan LucciSusan Lucci is reportedly done with 'All My Children.' The only original cast member on the long-running soap has turned down an offer to move online with the series in 2012, according to Deadline.

The Deadline report says Prospect Park offered Lucci a very similar salary to what ABC was paying her, but the actress asked for more money, fewer hours and the ability to do a primetime series.

'One Life to Live' stars Erika Slezak, Michael Easton, Ted King and Kassie DePaiva will remain with the show when it heads online in 2012.

Deadline reports Prospect Park may focus its resources on 'One Life to Live,' which had higher Nielsen ratings than 'All My Children,' and push 'All My Children' to the back since Lucci will not continue with the soap opera. Both shows are scheduled to debut online in early 2012.

'LA Ink' Canceled by TLC

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 18th 2011 4:10PM
TLC has canceled 'LA Ink.'Tattoos may last forever, but tattoo reality shows do not. Radar Online is reporting that 'LA Ink' has been canceled by TLC. The fourth season, currently airing, will be the the show's last hurrah.

"TLC has decided that the current season of 'LA Ink' will be its last. The network is proud of what the series has accomplished in its four seasons, following Kat Von D's journey as an artist from Miami to Los Angeles," the network told Radar in a statement.

The news comes after a messy, high-profile year for Kat Von D. She jumped into a relationship with Jesse James months after he had been through a very public cheating scandal with his ex-wife Sandra Bullock. In December, her house mysteriously burned down, killing her pet cat.

Then, in July, Von D and James called off their impending marriage and split. The timing of the break-up created an uncomfortable situation, as the network was already airing promos, and episodes, featuring her getting James' face tattooed on her rib cage.

'CHiPs' Star Erik Estrada Helps L.A. Drivers Prepare for 'Carmageddon'

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jul 12th 2011 8:00AM
'CHiPs'In a case of "I'm not a cop but I play one on TV ... " veteran 'CHiPs' star Erik Estrada has teamed up with "real motorcycle police officers" for a PSA warning Los Angelenos about the oncoming cataclysm known as "Carmageddon."

L.A. drivers are preparing for a 53-hour shutdown of a 10-mile stretch of the I-405 from July 15th to 18th, which could paralyze the whole area.

In true Hollywood style, L.A. Metro asked Estrada -- a.k.a. Officer Frank "Ponch" Poncharello -- to record the PSA (in English and Spanish) reminding drivers to stay away from the area during the closure.

Watch the English-language version after the jump.

Did 'The Doctors' Trick A Man Into Penis Surgery?

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 7th 2010 7:30PM
the_doctors_cbs_logo_2010If this story weren't so strange, you would swear it was a FunnyorDie.com sketch. It could be a 'Saturday Night Live' bit, but their stuff is rarely this hilarious. Tyler Bowling, a 21-year-old Minnesotan who had a condition that caused white pimples to appear on his penis, received a free laser treatment for removal of the penile papules when he consulted with Dr. William Groff in Los Angeles. The $4,500 procedure was done gratis in exchange for Tyler's story to be told on CBS's syndicated daytime show, 'The Doctors.'

However, Tyler Bowling is filing suit against the doctor, his practice, the producers of 'The Doctors' and even the company that created the laser that was used to fix his problems, claiming he was tricked into getting the work done and becoming the fodder for the TV show.

David Canary Is Leaving 'All My Children'

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 15th 2010 3:29PM
david_canary_all_my_children_abcOne of the biggest stars of daytime, David Canary, has chosen not to renew his contract with 'All My Children,' in large part because of the soap's relocation to Los Angeles according to Soap Opera Network. ABC hasn't confirmed the information, but the creator of 'All My Children,' Agnes Nixon, did. And prior to her confirmation, David Canary's daughter Tweeted about it to David's fans.

David Canary has been on 'All My Children' as Adam and Stuart Chandler since 1983, winning five Daytime Emmys (out of eleven nominations), and he's a fantastic actor. The roles of Adam and Stuart have been integral to the show, even after it was revealed that Adam was responsible for shooting – and killing – Stuart last year.

All My Children's 40th anniversary, a salute to Pine Valley

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 29th 2009 11:27AM
kelly_ripa_mark_consuelos_amc_abcWhile we've all been struggling through this holiday lull in regular TV programming, soap fans can take solace in the fact that the action is still happening in daytime. No show has more action going for it right now than All My Children as the 40th anniversary approaches.

On January 4, 2010, All My Children will turn 40 years old. In honor of the event, the celebration will be stretched over two days, Monday and Tuesday -- January 4th and 5th -- with former AMC stars Kelly Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos anchoring the festivities.

On Monday, Hayley and Mateo -- Kelly and Mark's characters -- return to Pine Valley with much fanfare. They're there to film an episode of Hayley's TV show, The Wave, because Pine Valley has been named "The Most Congenial Town in America."

Review: The Closer - Make Over

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 15th 2009 9:29AM
the_closer_brenda_cookie(S05E14) "Hello, Beau Bridges? Yes, this is The Closer calling. Would you like an Emmy nomination? You would... Okay, we're sending you the script now."

Perhaps it didn't happen exactly that way, but here was a show in which a gifted actor was presented a wonderful opportunity and he rose to the occasion. The Closer is one of those procedurals that has a deft touch with the comic episodes. Oh yeah, there are occasions when it gets a little bizarre -- and this episode might have gone there but it didn't. Instead, we had a terrific twist in more ways than one.

We also got to see how adorable Kyra Sedgwick looks in a hot pink ski parka. For more on the wardrobe and the old folks getting killed by the faux nurse, read on.

Major crimes was back on the job with a case that was gruesome and grim at the same time. How Brenda managed to face the morning crime scene without blanching is proof that she's as tough as nails beneath that smiling, sweet Southern facade. Brenda needed to be when dealing with a triple homicide, gang rape and possible gang war. Welcome to L.A. More on the case and the kitty situation, after the jump.

Abby's crossover to NCIS: Los Angeles was excellent

by Allison Waldman, posted Nov 25th 2009 10:25AM
ncis_los_angeles_abbyI have to admit that when I initially heard that Abby's character would be crossing over from NCIS to NCIS: Los Angeles, my reaction was meh. What could they possibly do that would make the transfer of the ultimate forensics goth geek from the cozy confines of her lab in D.C. to the high-tech, touch screen caravan in L.A. compelling?

Well, I tip my cap to Speed Weed (that has to be an alias!) for writing the episode, "Random On Purpose," which struck me as one of the best examples that NCIS: Los Angeles is coming together pretty nicely. I could definitely see now how this show is evolving. More on that and the rest of the episode (including spoilers -- be warned -- after the jump).

Is Oprah ending her syndicated show for her OWN show?

by Allison Waldman, posted Nov 6th 2009 9:29AM
Oprah_Winfrey_smilingYesterday there was a story on Deadline Hollywood that Oprah Winfrey would be ending her syndicated talk show in 2011 in order to move over to her OWN cable network. She'd still have a talk show, one based on Los Angeles, but it would not be syndicated. It would be on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), formerly Discovery Health.

Well, after the news was reported all over the place, Oprah's company Harpo, Inc. issued a statement that there would be no announcement until the end of the year. They didn't deny it; they just said the announcement about the switch would be later in the year.

To the average fan, if Oprah stopped her syndicated show, it probably wouldn't matter too much. Most people have basic cable and OWN would probably be a major addition to most cable systems, as well as DirecTV and Dish. Longtime fans would be able to watch Oprah on cable or satellite. No biggie.

Abby's trip to NCIS Los Angeles is set

by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 22nd 2009 1:04PM
Pauley_Perrette_NCISCircle the date on the calendar. On November 24 -- that's right before Thanksgiving so you might be busy with other stuff -- don't miss NCIS: Los Angeles because Pauley Perrette's Abby will be guesting. She won't just be on a monitoring talking to the folks in L.A.; she'll be in the City of Angels.

Goth Abby in the City of Angels? We knew it was coming. But how oxymoronic. All that sunshine is counter to the dark vibe, although if you ask me, Abby is a walking oxymoron. She's a scientist in love with forensics who is covered in tattoos, has a dog collar as a necklace and likes pigtails.

Anyway, back to the crossover. Michael Ausiello's sources have leaked to him at EW.com that Abby's visit to the Left Coast is a major plot point. Abby is not there by choice; she's been abducted.

Things I don't get about NCIS: Los Angeles

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Oct 12th 2009 2:05PM
NCIS Los AngelesI love military style series. I haven't missed one episode of JAG or its spin-off NCIS over the years -- I even watched reruns, including airings dubbed in French! -- and have watched all NCIS: Los Angeles since it began.

What I like most about NCIS: LA is that they do undercover missions, taking different personae and using gadgets, and that it stars one of my movie crushes when I was a teen, Chris O'Donnell, as well as the talented Linda Hunt.

Sadly, there are small things that I don't get about the series. These small issues are sort of bugging me and making me not enjoy the show as much as I would like as I keep asking myself these questions every episode.

Do you share the same issues? Do you have answers for me so I can enjoy the show as I want to? The list of things I don't get about NCIS: LA coming up!

All My Children fallout: who's in and who's out

by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 5th 2009 1:03PM
Beth_ehlersEver since the announcement that All My Children was leaving New York, moving from the studios where it's been shot since the premiere in 1970, the big question among fans has been who will be staying with All My Children when it moves west... and who won't.

The good news is that Susan Lucci has decided to stay with the show, even if she's not giving up her New York home. Susan, as well as costar Vincert Irizarry, have decided to commute to Los Angeles, with AMC arranging the schedule to make it more convenient for the veterans.

There's bad news, however, and it involves three big AMC stars. Thorsten Kaye, who plays Zach, has decided not to relocate. In addition, Beth Ehlers (Taylor) and Aiden Turner (Aidan) have been let go. In other words, they have not been invited to go west.
