Dane Cook Says He Never Stole Jokes From Louis C.K. on 'Louie' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 5th 2011 6:56AM
Dane Cook, 'Louie'Say what you will about the controversy, but it was pretty bold of Dane Cook and Louis C.K. to address it directly and to each other within the context of 'Louie' (Thu., 10:30PM ET on FX). The meeting was necessitated by Louis' desire to score Lady Gaga tickets, and Cook being with the same agency as her.

C.K. goes to ask for this favor, so he can maybe make his daughter happy for her birthday, and Cook confronts the controversy directly.

"Everything I read about me was about how I stole jokes from you, which I didn't," Cook said.

"I kind of think you did," C.K. responded. When Cook asked why he would risk his reputation to do that, C.K. said, "Because they were funny jokes."

'Louie' on FX Premiering This Spring

by Chris Jordan, posted Dec 1st 2009 6:15PM
FX is going to be seeing red this March. That's because Louis C.K., the red-headed star of HBO's former 'Lucky Louie,' is set to star in a new comedy called 'Louie,' according to a report in Entertainment Weekly.

The half-hour 'Louie,' which features both sketches and stand-up, will be based on Louis C.K.'s life as a comedian and divorced father of two, according to a report in Variety. The pilot episode includes two stories: Louie volunteering at his kids' school and a bad date.

TV 101: How Friends caused the current financial crisis (OR: Say it ain't so, Joe the Actor)

by Jay Black, posted Nov 12th 2008 2:06PM
That bed cost $18,000.If you haven't heard, the country is in a recession and things are getting bad. I spend every afternoon watching CNBC and weeping. My father, who deals in real estate, calls me every night just to scream and babble incoherently. My wife splits her time between loading up the Model T to head out west Californee-way and burning our quarterly financial statements for warmth.

We're on an economic roller coaster right now, and I don't mean a reputable roller coaster like at Six Flags. We're talking one of those death-trap coasters that even the carnies won't ride. The depressing thing is that the whole bag of crap we're in right now just seemed to come out of nowhere, like the last season of Roseanne. How did we get here? Why is this all happening now?

You might be tempted to blame the usual suspects: the president, the congress, the Stone-Cutters. But you'd be wrong. The real culprit behind this whole problems is Friends.

Lucky Louie moves to CBS... sort of

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Apr 17th 2008 12:01PM

Louis C.K.Great news here for fans of the short-lived HBO sitcom, Lucky Louie. According to The Hollywood Reporter, LL alums Louis C.K. and Pamela Adlon have been tasked with writing a new sitcom for CBS, where surprise - they play a husband and wife.

Sounds a lot like Lucky Louie to me.

CBS being network TV and all, there will obviously be some changes though. For one, the trademark raunchiness of the original Honeymooners-inspired half-hour will be gone, but I'm sure we can still expect plenty of laughs. The yet-to-be-titled series will focus on a married couple with too many children. Louis C.K. will executive produce.

While I'm thrilled about the return of something even remotely similar to Lucky Louie (they'll reach a much broader audience on CBS), I do have one worry. Between her duties as the voice of Bobby on King of the Hill and her role with this new project, is Adlon still going to have time for Californication? Her character was one of the best parts of season one.

Louis CK can do anything - VIDEO

by Adam Finley, posted Aug 5th 2007 12:01PM

louis ckDo a search for my name on this blog and it becomes clear I have a nerdish obsession with animation. One of the things I love so much about it is that there are no boundaries whatsoever: a character can swallow a fork, get shot in the face, and decapitated by helicopter blades and still bounce back as if nothing happened. The only person in real life who could do that is Jesus Christ, and even He needed to rest for a few days afterward.

Louis C.K. talks to the AV Club

by Adam Finley, posted May 24th 2007 4:18PM

lucky louieComedian and actor Louis C.K. recently spoke with the AV Club about his career, including his latest stand-up special for HBO, and his short-lived HBO sitcom, Lucky Louie, an uncensored and often uncomfortably candid series shot like a basic sitcom, but without the restrictions of network TV.

I liked Lucky Louie. I didn't think it was perfect, but those moments I didn't like (stiff dialogue, some moments felt a little too forced) are common for all new shows as they work out the kinks and improve in subsequent seasons.

The Daily Show: January 8, 2007

by Annie Wu, posted Jan 9th 2007 11:21AM
Jon StewartA few things have happened while The Daily Show was on break ("We executed the Godfather of Soul, Gerald Ford?"), so, of course, the program started off with the hottest news: Manhattan's strange-smelling gas leak. Oh, Jon, how we've missed you.

"Autocratic Asphyxiation": Some members of the media promised to handle Saddam Hussein's execution in a tasteful way, but all that went out the window when CNN used a shiny, spinny "Hanging Hussein" graphic in the corner of their screen. Senior Hangmanalyst John Oliver reported on his visit to Hussein's execution. There was only light laughter for Oliver's "Hey! Is that your moustache or did your upper lip just throw up?" jeer, but I quite liked it.

Lucky Louie coming to DVD

by Adam Finley, posted Oct 15th 2006 8:02AM
lucky louieThe very short-lived series Lucky Louie is coming to DVD in 2007, though there is no official announcement on the exact date. Creator and star Louie CK, who recently recorded audio commentary for the episodes, told fans the DVD would be released on January 30, but TVShowsOnDVD warns that celebrities aren't always accurate when it comes to such things. I don't care when it comes out, I'm just happy it is coming out. I was rather bummed when I found out one of my favorite comedians had a show on HBO, a network I don't have on my current cable package. I've heard both good and bad things about the show, but like anyone else, I'd like to see it for myself and decide. We'll see if I enjoy it as much as his stand up, or if I'll be driving to his home to bang on his door and demand a refund.

HBO cancels Lucky Louie

by Joel Keller, posted Sep 18th 2006 6:17PM
Lucky LouieIt looks like HBO's traditional sitcom experiment was short-lived. Lucky Louie, a multi-camera sitcom created and starring comedian Louis C.K., has been cancelled after its first 13-episode season. This TV Week article ("cleverly" titled "'Louie's' Luck Runs Out") mentions that the show was seen by about 1.3 million viewers on average; the season finale was seen by about that many people, which was 1.2 million less than the network's other summer Sunday offering, Entourage.

It was an interesting try; imagine a sitcom with a live audience, living room and kitchen sets, etc., but with the freedom of language and subject matter that HBO provides. Guess not enough people bought into the experiment for HBO's liking. The president of HBO Entertainment claims she wants to work with Louis C.K. again, but there are no current plans for a new series. At least this might give Louis more material for his stand-up act.
