by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 13th 2011 5:57AM
In a strange bit of programming The CW devoted over an hour to 'Gaga by Gaultier' (Mon., 8PM ET on The CW), wherein Lady Gaga and French designer Jean Paul Gaultier interviewed one another. The two covered nearly every topic imaginable in the 75-minute running time, including Gaga's love of Madonna. While reports had surfaced recently that Madonna questioned whether Gaga's "obsessions have to do with" Madonna were "rooted in something deep and meaningful, or superficial."
Gaga certainly sounded sincere in her admiration for Madonna in this interview. "She was so brave, and every day when I'm working, I think about bravery," Gaga said of Madonna. "You have to always push forward and be unafraid."
Madonna Doesn't Like Hydrangeas, and Hoda Won't Hang Kathie Lee's Painting (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 7th 2011 2:35PM
A fan recently gave Madonna a bouquet of hydrangeas, and she was caught on tape saying shortly thereafter, "I absolutely loathe hydrangeas. He obviously doesn't know that." Kathie Lee Gifford said Wednesday morning on 'Today' (7AM ET on NBC) that while she may sound ungrateful, Madonna pales in comparison to Hoda Kotb.Kathie Lee pointed to an incident with a painting as an example. "I gave you a very big painting you promptly stuck in a closet," Gifford said to Kotb. "[I took] it to her New York apartment as a housewarming gift because she loves New Orleans, and thought she loved me -- she promptly sticks it in a closet someplace and throws up some, I don't know, what did you put on the wall there? A poster?"

'Family Guy' Patriarch Covers Madonna, Causes 'Price Is Right' Mayhem (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Jan 10th 2011 7:30AM
When Peter Griffin is tired on 'Family Guy' (Sun., 9PM ET on FOX), he forgoes his beer for a Red Bull. Suddenly he's belting out (in falsetto) Madonna's 'Ray of Light' and, like her, dancing in front of a fast-paced background. "And I feeeeeeel..."He then utilizes his new energy on 'The Price Is Right.' Everything's going well, until he spins the famous wheel so hard it flies off its axis and plows through the studio audience, leaving crushed attendees in its wake.
Carrie Ann Inaba: 'DWTS' Should Have Same-Sex Couples! (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 18th 2010 7:11AM
On 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 12AM ET on TBS), 'Dancing With the Stars' judge Carrie Ann Inaba discussed a potentially controversial idea. She feels that 'DWTS' shoud have same-sex partners on the show. Previously, dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy "came out" in favor of this plan. (That's just a bad pun, by the way. Carrie and Maks are straight, but they support gay rights, and want the show to broaden its appeal.)
While talking with George Lopez, Carrie expressed her belief that men and women should be able to dance together. She backed up this belief with a piece of personal history. Ms. Inaba has some experience with dancing with another lady -- and with making out with one too. The lady in question is a pretty famous one ... she goes by the name of "Madonna."

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 1st 2010 1:10AM
Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal appeared on 'The Graham Norton Show' (Sat., 10PM ET on BCC America). There, she discussed a (sort of) tragic loss, but also told the story of an unexpected benefit.Maggie failed to win an Oscar award for Best Supporting Actress. She lost to eventual winner Mo'Nique. But she told host Graham Norton that she didn't think she would actually win, since her nomination was for the indie movie 'Crazy Heart.'
Though she did confess to a second or two of excitement: "When you're there... and they're opening the envelope and they say 'Mon-nnnique.' And that's a little like 'Maggie!'" Still, things didn't work out. Oh well. But Maggie didn't let her loss get to her.
'Hurt Locker' Star Jeremy Renner on Ditching His Mom, Dancing With Madonna (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 23rd 2010 4:55AM
What would you be willing to do in order to dance with Madonna? Would you be willing to leave your poor old mother behind? Would you turn down a spot on a nationally televised talk show? Actor Jeremy Renner was fine with doing both of these things.Renner appeared on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC), where he discussed his Oscar night activities. Jeremy played the lead in the film 'The Hurt Locker,' which won the 2010 Academy Award for Best Picture. After this, Renner was in the mood to celebrate, but his mom was along for the ride. What to do ... what to do? The answer was simple: He ditched his mom, leaving her behind at one party while he went to another gathering, where he "randomly" danced with Madonna.
'Mall Cops' Deal with Lady Gaga's 'Friend' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Jun 25th 2010 8:25AM
Lady Gaga may be interested to hear that she's got a big fan in Minnesota, who roams the mall and sings to people. He claims to be buddies with her -- and Madonna, too. An officer on 'Mall Cops: Mall of America' (Thu., 10PM ET on TLC) pulls the man aside for questioning. "You're turning back, behind people and singing to people," he tells the man, who has no ID and says he's from Los Angeles. "I don't think they want you singing to 'em."
So what's he doing in Minnesota? His friends Lada Gaga and Madonna are at the airport; he called them just "10 minutes ago." He tells the officer they're going to come shop together.
But, alas, they never show. Instead the guy begins to threaten the officers, throwing in some random designer brand names ("GucciArmani!") for emphasis. Don't worry, ladies, the paramedics are on their way.
Lady Gaga Talks Michael Jackson Tour, Madonna Comparisons on 'Larry King Live' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Jun 2nd 2010 7:05AM
Larry King is 76 years old, and traditionally viewed as the go-to guy for interviews with politicians, dignitaries and other somber news-makers. Does he even know who Lady Gaga is? Well, he does now.In her interview on 'Larry King Live' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN), King asked her, "Is it true that Michael Jackson wanted to perform with you on his This Is It comeback tour?"
"I was actually asked to open for Michael on his tour," said Lady Gaga. "I believe there was some talk about lots of the openers doing duets with Michael onstage," she said.
King then asked her what she thought of all the comparisons to Madonna, and what it was like performing with her on 'Saturday Night Live.' In addition to Madonna being "very kind and supportive," Lady Gaga discovered there's something both women are "militant" about.
Olivia Newton-John on 'Glee' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted May 5th 2010 3:00AM
First, 'Glee' (Tue., 9PM ET on Fox) had an entirely Madonna-based episode. Now, 'Grease' star Olivia Newton-John appears on the show. It all makes sense, we promise you. Although even if it didn't make sense, seeing Newton-John on 'Glee' would still be pretty cool.Sue (Jane Lynch) has her "jazzercise" exercise video accidentally released for the entire world to see. Shockingly, the somewhat terrifying image of her dancing to the song 'Physical' becomes an unexpected hit. Then, singer Newton-John sees this remake of her song, and decides to help Sue make a new version of the video. Which is really something that you need to see for yourself.
'Glee' and the Barbra Streisand Connection
by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 29th 2010 2:02PM
Ever since 'Glee' began, there's been a thread running through it that's always reminded me of Barbra Streisand. In last Tuesday's episode, the thread was more like a rope, as four characters did the medley "One Less Bell/A House Is Not A Home," just like Streisand did in the 1971 Burt Bacharach TV special. Apparently, others have picked up on this connection, too. This review in New York magazine suggested that the 'Glee' should really do a Barbra Streisand episode -- like the Madonna show -- because Barbra is 'the patron saint' of 'Glee' kids.
Whether they do an all-Streisand show or not, the writer made a great point about how the kids in New Directions are more akin to Brooklyn Barbra than almost any other performer. Before she graduated Erasmus Hall High School in 1959, Barbra Streisand was in glee club. (So was Neil Diamond!) But Streisand wasn't the star of Choral Club. The director, Mr. De Pietto, preferred blonde soprano,Trudy Wallace, and gave her all the solos. Streisand was put in the back, in the alto section.
'Glee' - 'Home' Recap
by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 27th 2010 10:25PM
(S01E16) As the season moves on, the initial joy of 'Glee' remains; that feeling that was there in the pilot has been sustained. But with time there are also subtle shifts in tone and character, more music, changes that are part of the natural progression of a television show. With this second half of the season, we've now seen three episodes. For some, last week's Madonna mash-up was the best 'Glee' ever. Not so much from my perspective. Too much hype and too little substance, much like the Material Girl herself. The episode lacked heart. With 'Home,' 'Glee' found the heart, delivered the substance and, in every way that matters, kicked ass with this episode.
