Maggie Q Talks Nikita and Michael, Reuniting with Alex and Charities Close to Her Heart

by Laura Prudom, posted Dec 2nd 2011 10:30AM
Maggie QTonight, The CW will air the last 'Nikita' episode of 2011, which will probably result in much wailing and rending of garments when we're left with an inevitable and infuriating cliffhanger to speculate over for the next four weeks.

Suspecting that this whole "winter hiatus" nonsense was just another evil scheme devised by Division to lower our morale, we decided to track down the show's elusive heroine to gather some much-needed intel on Nikita's relationships with Michael, Alex, Owen and Ryan.

In addition to supplying us with scoop about Nikita's potential romances and the character's troubled backstory, Maggie Q also shared a few of her favorite charitable organizations with us, just in case you're in a giving mood this holiday season. Hit the jump for our one-on-one chat with Q, but tread carefully, there are light spoilers ahead.

'Nikita' Season 2, Episode 9 Recap

by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 19th 2011 12:00AM
Amanda and Birkoff['Nikita' - 'Fair Trade']

I had a feeling that last week's lackluster episode was just a fluke; this week's installment was a welcome return to the 'Nikita' we know and love, advancing the storyline while providing palpable tension throughout the well-paced hour.

'Fair Trade' was a long-overdue showcase for Aaron Stanford, with Birkoff the focal point for much of the hour, and for anyone who underestimates the importance of our resident nerd, this episode was a welcome reminder of just how integral he is not just to operations, but apparently to Nikita's sanity too. We never forget the devotion that Nikita and Michael share, but sometimes it's easy to overlook our irritable little hacker, grumbling in the corner but always coming through for our heroes whenever they're in a tight spot.

Sadly, even though the loss of Birkoff sent Nikita off the deep end, his presence beforehand wasn't quite enough to stop our heroine from going "on a bender" this week, behaving even more recklessly than usual in Michael's absence.

'Nikita' Star Shane West Reassures Fans That Mikita Is Not Dead Yet

by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 27th 2011 2:30PM
Shane WestLast week's 'Nikita' left fans reeling, after it was revealed that our heroine's loyal lover Michael (Shane West) had an illegitimate son with a former flame -- and, even worse, the episode ended with Michael still oblivious to the boy's identity. Nikita (Maggie Q.) seemingly agreed to keep the secret from Michael for his son's safety, but since the producers have been teasing a major rift between the pair all summer long, we assume it's only a matter of time until the truth comes out.

Last week, we caught up with Shane West to get his take on his character's shocking new storyline, quizzing him on how Cassandra and Max's arrival might affect his relationship with Nikita and whether our favorite couple will need some space (perhaps on separate continents) after Michael discovers what Nikita is hiding.

Spoilers ahead.

'Nikita' Season 2, Episode 3 Recap

by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 8th 2011 11:30AM
Michael and Nikita['Nikita' - 'Knightfall']

A good show can help you to suspend disbelief under even the most unlikely circumstances, and 'Nikita' pulled that off seamlessly tonight.

Was the series actually going to kill off the male lead (and one half of the fan-favorite central couple) three episodes into the second season? Of course not -- but for a few moments when those drone missiles were primed and Nikita was racing through the jungle, trying to reach Michael in time, you truly believed that she might lose him, and felt that same breathless relief she felt when they were reunited.

'Nikita' Season 2, Episode 2 Recap: 'Falling Ash'

by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 1st 2011 11:00AM
Owen, Nikita and Michael['Nikita' - 'Falling Ash']

After such an action-packed season premiere, 'Nikita' had big shoes to fill to maintain the momentum of the previous episode, which may be why 'Falling Ash' felt a little unspectacular (if competently executed) in comparison.

Still, the episode laid important groundwork for the weeks to come, especially with the surprising revelation of the last five minutes. Alex was also given a new goal to work towards in the hunt for her father's business partner, and poor, long-suffering Birkhoff finally admitted that he actually kind of liked having his freeloading rogue ex-colleagues crashing at his bachelor pad.

'Nikita' Guest Star Devon Sawa Talks Owen's Return and a Potential Romance with Alex

by Laura Prudom, posted Sep 28th 2011 11:00AM
Devon SawaThe last time we saw Devon Sawa's rogue agent Owen on 'Nikita,' he was preparing to go AWOL to try and wean himself off a dangerous, performance-enhancing drug masterminded by Division.

When the troubled assassin returns in this week's episode (Fri., Sept. 30, 8PM ET on The CW), he'll be seeking Nikita's (Maggie Q.) help in tracking down the doctor who created the regimen, and will inevitably find himself drawn into her latest mission to take down the corrupt government agency. And did we mention he'll be wearing a tuxedo?

We caught up with Sawa to preview Owen's return, hear his favorite part of shooting the show and learn what he thinks of the enthusiastic fan support for a romance between his character and Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) -- even though the two haven't actually met yet. Join us after the jump for more.

Have no fear, AOL TV is here. We're spotlighting five episodes from some of the best scripted comedies and dramas on TV that we think you need to see before jumping into the new season this fall.

Maggie Q.

Based on the critically-acclaimed French film of the same name (and its spin-off TV series, 'La Femme Nikita,') this slick spy thriller stars Maggie Q. as the titular heroine, a former death-row inmate recruited into a mysterious government agency named Division.

Although the film and previous series take place while Nikita is still an agent, forced to carry out Division's morally dubious missions, The CW version explores new territory by focusing on Nikita once she's gone rogue and escaped the agency, and her new objective is to take Division down through any means necessary.

It's a reunion for Chalke and Bill Lawrence, the co-creator of both 'Scrubs' and 'Cougar Town.' Lawrence has steadily been recruiting 'Scrubs' actors for his new show -- so far he's nabbed Ken Jenkins, Sam Lloyd, Robert Clendenin, Zach Braff and Scott Foley to serve double-duty.

by Laura Prudom, posted Jul 24th 2011 12:00PM
Maggie Q, 'Nikita'It goes without saying that the stars of The CW are somewhat genetically blessed, but 'Nikita' stars Maggie Q, Lyndsy Fonseca and Shane West were definitely bringing the beauty on Saturday night at Comic-Con.

But pretty as they are, the 'Nikita' cast is anything but fragile -- they were happy to chat about doing a lot of their own stunts on the show. Q even got up from the panel in her tight yellow ensemble to humor a fan in the crowd who wanted to see her "climb up someone" in real life. You know the move: she runs straight at her target, then step, step, step until she can backflip right off of them? Awesome.

They joined executive producer Craig Silverstein to tease what's certain to be an action-packed second season, and AOL TV was on hand to bombard them with our burning questions before the panel.

Join us after the jump to discover what the future holds for Nikita, Michael and Alex. We've also got scoop on new love interests, mysterious pasts and who exactly is in charge of shadowy organization Oversight ...

by Jean Bentley, posted Jul 23rd 2011 4:00PM
Maggie Q and Shane West want you to know that they're incredibly grateful for their dedicated, faithful 'Nikita' fans.

In fact, when we stopped the pair on the CW Upfront red carpet a while back, they had less than a minute to chat before they were ushered away and spent that entire time gushing about their fans getting them the pick-up for Season 2 (premieres Fri., Sept. 23, 8PM ET on The CW).

"We're so lucky, aren't we?" Maggie remarked to her costar. "They're so amazing."

West agreed. "Yes we are. It's pretty amazing to see that everyday. It's kind of phenomenal what they've created, really."

"I don't think they understand how much their support means to us," Maggie continued. "It's just cool to create something and have people connect with it. You want them to, but you never know."

'Nikita' Star Melinda Clarke Teases Amanda's Past, Alex's Present and the Show's Future

by Laura Prudom, posted May 5th 2011 1:00PM
Melinda ClarkeNo one in Hollywood schemes half as well as Melinda Clarke -- and we mean that as a compliment. From her scene-stealing role as Julie Cooper on 'The O.C.' to her current guise as manipulative Division agent Amanda on The CW's 'Nikita,' Clarke has made a career out of playing powerful, seductive and downright devious women. Her enigmatic performance in the action-packed spy drama has rapidly become a standout in an already impressive ensemble.

AOL TV caught up with Clarke yesterday to discuss what's next for Amanda now that she's got rogue agent Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca) in her grasp. With only two episodes left in season 1 (episode 21 airs tonight at 9PM ET), the stakes are high, and Clarke shared plenty of juicy tidbits to whet our appetites for what's to come in the next couple of weeks. Caution: Spoilers ahead.
