Singer Aubrey O'Day Gets her Own Show on Oxygen

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jul 20th 2010 7:35AM
It's been reported that ex-Danity Kane singer Aubrey O'Day is set to return to reality TV with her own show on Oxygen. 'The Aubrey O'Day Project' will follow her as she attempts a comeback in the music industry with the help of some demanding industry professionals.

O'Day first found fame on the MTV series 'Making the Band 3' in 2004 when she was chosen to be the first member of the all-girl group Danity Kane. The band's first two albums debuted at number one in the Billboard charts, and they opened for acts like Christina Aguilera. However, in 2008, O'Day was famously fired from Danity Kane on TV by Sean Combs after he was allegedly concerned that she was trying to become more famous at the expense of the band.

Announcing the new show, Amy Introcaso-Davis, Senior V.P., original programming and development at Oxygen, said: "Young women have watched the ups and downs of Aubrey through the years, and they continue to cheer her on. ... We're excited to deliver her story as she battles the issues that resonate with our audience, from self-doubt and body image to an intense desire for success and redemption."

Diddy really needs a good assistant

by Kristin Sample, posted Jul 8th 2008 9:23AM
Diddy in a suitHopefully, the hip-hop mogul will get one on VH1's I Want To Work for Diddy premiering this summer. Apparently, Diddy's staff is not doing their jobs. He was almost snubbed from his own party this weekend. He hosted a bash at Lily Pond in the Hamptons and almost didn't get in because the club was at capacity with over 1,000 people ready to get drunk and crunk with the rapper.

The artist-formerly-known-as-Puffy was denied his grand entrance (a three car procession of Cadillac Escalades). The fleet was forced to turn around and the Making the Band host had to go in the back door. Once he got in the club, the DJ turned off the music for fifteen minutes while the V.I.P. room was readied for his highness. That will show everyone a good time. Don't do the grand entrance. Just turn off the music and make everyone wait so you can get settled.

See, if he only had a good assistant... Hopefully, he'll find what he's looking for on his new VH1 show. I Want to Work for Diddy comes out in August.

P. Diddy preps for Making the Band 4

by Julia Ward, posted Jan 4th 2007 2:32PM
P. DiddyAuditions begin this January 17th in Los Angeles for P. Diddy's latest installment of Making the Band. This time out, he's looking to put together a boy band that crosses New Edition with N'Sync. In Diddy's imagination these boys would be as disciplined as a bunch of Howard men pledging Alpha Phi Alpha, but since, unlike Oprah, he's not taking his base of operations to South Africa or Howard, he's bound to get a bunch of marginally-talented, fame-seeking alpha males whose knowledge of R&B extends back only as far as Boyz II Men if he's lucky.

I've actually watched every season, if not every episode, of Making the Band largely because P. Diddy's megalomaniacal behavior has to be seen to be believed. He's like a deeply invasive Donald Trump - doling out business philosophy while telling kids how to sleep, act, breathe, walk, look, etc. You can spare yourself the time investment and just watch Dave Chappelle's take on Diddy from the first season of the Chappelle Show. It's surprisingly accurate.
