On 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated), 'Mike and Molly' star Billy Gardell responded to a controversial article by Marie Claire contributor Maura Kelly, in which she accused the show of "promoting obesity" and made other comments widely considered derogatory toward overweight people.Sharon Osbourne, 'Mike & Molly' Creator Mark Roberts Speak Out Against 'Hateful' Marie Claire Blog About 'Fatties'

When Marie Claire blogger Maura Kelly wrote that she was uncomfortable watching the two main characters on CBS sitcom 'Mike & Molly' making out because they were so overweight, she surely knew she'd encounter some sort of backlash. Now Mark Roberts, creator of the offending show, and 'The Talk' host Sharon Osbourne have spoken out against the article, calling it "hateful" and "deplorable.""I think I'd be grossed out if I had to watch two characters with rolls and rolls of fat kissing each other, because I'd be grossed out if I had to watch them doing anything," Kelly wrote in a blog on the magazine's website.
Roberts told The Hollywood Reporter, "My initial reaction is she's talking about [Billy Gardell and Melissa McCarthy] and I love them; I feel protective and angry about people being loose-lipped. I guess hateful is the only way to describe [the post]."
'Project Runway' - 'Run for Cover' Recap
by Michael Pascua, posted Feb 12th 2010 3:30AM

(S07E05) With five challenges down, 'Project Runway' claims to have the biggest challenge ever. This season continues to sweep the previous season under the floor as if the last season was a hiccup. This week the contestants had to design an outfit for the cover of the April edition Marie Claire, which would be modeled by Heidi Klum. They had one day and $150.
Joanna Coles, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire magazine, had a lot of specification for the dresses: the eye-catching design had to be above the waist, there will be text so there can't be black fabric or loud patterns, and they have to take into account that the April edition will have a spring-like feeling to it. Along with that, the contestants also had to consider a color palate that would match Heidi.
Nina Garcia is Running in Heels

You know the old saying, "looking good is the best revenge?" Well, looking good on television is even better. To that end, Nina Garcia, the acid-tongued Colombian judge on Project Runway, is appearing on a new reality show. Garcia will be starring on Style Network's new series, Running in Heels. Heels follows the staff at women's magazine Marie Claire, which Garcia joined a short while ago after leaving her long-time position at Elle magazine.Garcia's split from Elle was allegedly not on the best terms, so it's probably extra sweet for her that Running in Heels is a direct competitor to CW's Stylista; a reality competition show taking place at, you guessed it -- Elle magazine.
Ugly Betty receives a new Val-entine
by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 11th 2008 11:59AM
First there was Walter, then Henry, then Gio and now Jesse? For a girl whose called ugly, Betty Suarez gets an awful lot of appreciative looks and more from the fellows, does she not? The new man with eyes for Betty is named Jesse and actor/musician Val Emmich has been cast in the Ugly Betty role. The role is recurring -- kind of like Freddy Rodriguez when he started as Gio -- but since he's a potential love interest with UB, he could be bumped up to regular.
With the show now filming in New York, perhaps a young hot guy like Val Emmich is just the ticket for Betty. Emmich's done a lot of Manhattan TV shows -- Hope & Faith, 30 Rock, Third Watch -- so he's going to sound like a New Yawker.
