Matthew Modine Sums Up His Career on 'Today' (VIDEO)
Matthew Modine is debuting on the Great White Way in "The Miracle Worker" (as Helen Keller's father) and he appeared on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) to discuss the Broadway production and his career, which has segued from films (he's best remembered as Pvt. Joker in 1987's 'Full Metal jacket') and TV (1993's 'And the Band Played On') to theater.Hoda asked Modine what he thinks when he listens to all his accomplishments. "It sounds silly cause I feel like I've only just figured out how to do my job," he said. "You get by on charm and looks and if you don't figure out how to hone your craft as you get older and get some snow on your roof you're in big trouble."

Weeds: The Dark Time
(S03E12) To paraphrase George Costanza, worlds collided in this week's Weeds. The growers and the dealers set up shop in ultra-religious Majestic, which could mean all sorts of trouble. Andy remembered that Dean existed, Nancy and Conrad picked up where they left off (romantically speaking), and Isabel was in the same room with Heylia. Isn't that a sign of The Apocalypse?
Celia's Majestic house is the new base of operations for Aguatecture, and the transition made for some strange conversations. For me, the most bizarre part of the move was seeing Isabel talk to Heylia and Vaneeta. I would never have predicted that Isabel would cross paths with them, and now I can totally see them getting along.
Weeds: He Taught Me How To Drive By

(S03E07) Weeds apparently took a note from Californication's extraneous nudity, plentiful sex playbook. This episode was all about the humping as one arc ended and another began. As Conrad and Nancy's debt is laid to rest, Peter's body rises from the muck.
Weeds: Sh*t Highway
(S03E04) The Modine has landed! This week, we got our first look at Sullivan Groff and, through him, the up-and-coming community of Majestic. It's probably a bad sign that Sullivan regards Agrestic as a potential toilet bowl, but who cares? His hair looked fabulous!Sullivan didn't waste any time putting his looks and charm to use on his new neighbors. After schmoozing with the city council members, he managed to (unsuccessfully) hit on both Nancy and Celia--not bad for a thirty-minute episode. Something tells me that he won't take no for an answer in Celia's case. Either way, it's great to see Matthew Modine again. No offense to Kevin Nealon, but I've been waiting for a hot older man to turn up on this show.
Modine joins cast of Weeds
Matthew Modine will be joining the cast of the Showtime series Weeds when the program returns for its third season on August 13 (the second season ended last October). Modine will appear in ten episodes of the fifteen-episode season as Sullivan Groff, a land developer for a Christian mega-church.
I've been a fan of Modine since Full Metal Jacket, so it'll be nice to see him as a regular on Weeds. He's appeared on television before, most recently in The Bedford Diaries and in roles on The West Wing and Law & Order: SVU.
Zooey Deschanel and Carrie Fisher will also make cameo appearances in the third season.
