Michael Lohan, 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'It was time to be discharged back into the regular world on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET On VH1). It's a bittersweet day for the patients as they get the excitement of being able to take back the reigns of their lives coupled with the terror of having to take back the reigns of their lives.

It was when they were in charge of themselves that they got into the trouble that led them to Dr. Drew and his team in the first place. So as an exercise, they talked to the person they were before entering rehab, hopefully saying goodbye to him or her forever.

Michael Lohan Flips Out on Kate Major, Threatens to Leave 'Celebrity Rehab' (VIDEO)

Michael Lohan on 'Celebrity Rehab'Patients on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sundays, 10PM on VH1) tend to have more than their fair share of rocky relationships. That's especially true of Michael Lohan, who had an explosive blow-up with his ex-fiance Kate Major, who he and Dr. Drew have been trying to convince to enter treatment.

The incident started when Lohan appeared in a tabloid report kissing Kim Granatell, better known as Kim G from 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey.' That sent Major, who was on her way to the Pasadena Recovery Center for visiting day, into a fit, which soon escalated into a phone shouting match. Lohan worked himself into a rage while denying that he kissed Kim G., and threatened to leave rehab as he was being told he needed to calm down because of his heart.

Michael Lohan, 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew'Michael Lohan's days on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9PM ET on VH1) may be numbered. Of course, we'll have to wait until next week to find out if he truly walks off the show, and out of rehab, but how did it get to this?

Lohan was looking forward to seeing his ex-fiancée when family came to visit, but the staff members at the facility were concerned because they're pretty certain that she's an addict right now. Thus, seeing Lohan could set his own recovery back.

As such, they said that if she came she would also have to sign up for treatment. When Lohan found out about this, he didn't take it well at all. He stormed around, ranting and raving to everyone about the rules and who has to follow them.

Dina LohanThe Lohan family cetainly knows how to keep a high profile. Hot on the heels of daughter Lindsay's release from house arrest, and ex-husband Michael's stint on 'Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew,' comes news that matriarch Dina Lohan may be taking to the small screen.

We Asked a Shrink If 'Celebrity Rehab' Can Work & Why It's So Addictive to Watch

by Alex Moaba, posted Jun 24th 2011 3:20PM
It was a sad off-season for 'Celebrity Rehab,' which saw two former patients, Mike Starr and Jeff Conaway, die of drug overdoses. With the show returning for its fifth season Sunday night, June 26, on VH1, we're starting to feel more and more conflicted about tuning in. Rumors that Michael Lohan was paid $180K to go on the show this season and that Rachel Uchitel was paid $500K last season add to a cloud of ethical issues swirling around the show.

We had questions: Are we watching glorified train-wreck TV, or real rehab where good work can be done? And why is the show so, dare we say, addictive to watch? We had to talk to a shrink to sort it all out.

"I feel that 'Celebrity Rehab' does for rehab and substance abuse what the 'Jersey Shore' does for New Jersey," says Eric Sherman, LCSW, a psychotherapist who's treated patients with substance abuse problems in Montclair, N.J., and New York City. "It gets publicity out there, but is that really the most helpful thing for people to be seeing?"

"What Dr. Drew is doing is in essence paying people money to come on the show," he continued. "It's encouraging bad behavior -- the more they act out, the more screen time they get. And by very the nature of television, things get boiled down to highlight the most dysfunctional and the most emotional. It gives a somewhat false impression of what one might actually encounter in substance abuse treatment."

Michael Lohan Says His Relationship With Lindsay Is Improving on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 22nd 2011 1:55PM
Michael Lohan talks about Lindsay and 'Celebrity Rehab' on 'The View'On the upcoming season of 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,' Michael Lohan apologized to his daughter, Lindsay Lohan, for passing down genes that contribute to an addictive personality. Wednesday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Lohan said his often tumultuous relationship with his daughter is getting better, and that they were recently together for Father's Day.

"It's a hell of a lot better than it was," he said of his relationship with Lindsay. "It's a lot better. There's still some ... It's not Lindsay anymore. It's the damage that was done as a result of my divorce with Dina."

Lohan also denied that Lindsay was considering dropping the last name Lohan, and said he stands by his daughter as she is under house arrest for allegedly stealing a necklace from a jewelery store. "I believe what my daughter tells me," he said. "When she's wrong, I'll tell her she's wrong."
