'America's Got Talent' Backstage Report: Will Steven Retchless Change Who He Is?
by Michael Maloney, posted Jul 21st 2011 7:00AM
It's not a given that there will be a "wild card" episode of 'America's Got Talent' so ejected acts can come back and try again to compete for the $1 million prize, but eliminated magician Landon Swank is reason enough to have one this year. The judges had to decide tonight between Swank and Smage Bros., the motorcyle stunt team, as to which act would make it through to the semi-finals. After judges Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne split their votes between the acts, it was left to judge Howie Mandel to break the tie -- and he chose the Smage Bros.
"I don't want to be the person responsible for sending someone home," Mandel sighed to AOL TV after the taping. Still, he feels he made the right decision.
Army Wives: The Messenger
by Allison Waldman, posted Jun 23rd 2008 10:46AM
(S02E03) Army Wives is the kind of show that's not afraid to wear its heart on its sleeve, metaphorically speaking. That's what this episode was in essence. The writers weren't afraid to deal with some core themes like faith, courage, fear and bravery.Time has passed since Amanda's death, but life is not returning to normal for the Holdens. Until Claudia Joy is able to begin to heal, Michael and Emmalin will be suffering, a point driven home in this episode by the messenger. In the guise of guest star Bill Cobbs, he's not real.
At least not real in human form; he's imaginary and only Claudia Joy can see and speak with him. This is very much a dramatic device to help her see that life goes on.
