Black History Month 2010 TV Highlights

Today kicks off Black History Month. Although February is the shortest month of the year, our favorite networks have more than made up for it with a plethora of programs. BET, HBO, PBS and Fox have lined up compelling shows and specials that commemorate both Black History and the Civil Rights Movement.

'Grey's Anatomy,' 'House of Payne' Among NAACP Nominees

Grey's Anatomy'Grey's Anatomy' was among the top shows honored with nominations for the 41st annual NAACP Image Awards.

The ABC medical drama earned six nominations this morning, including nods in the Best Comedy Series and Best Drama Actress (Chandra Wilson) categories.

Also picking up major nods were 'Tyler Perry's House of Payne' and the recently canceled 'Everybody Hates Chris,' both of which received four nominations.

Eddie Griffin gets cut off for his use of the N-word

Eddie Griffin in Undercover BrotherComedian Eddie Griffin (Malcolm & Eddie) had his stand up performance cut short on August 31st while performing at an event for Black Enterprise Magazine. According to a spokesperson for the magazine, Griffin repeatedly used the N word which prompted the host to come on stage and tell Griffin that he was finished.

Black Enterprise spokesman, Andrew Wadlium told the press that he supported the decision as the right thing to do.

While there has certainly been much controversy over the word in question, it may come as a surprise that a black comedian was censored for using the word in front of a black audience.
