Robert Wagner Cuffed on 'NCIS' as LA Cops Say He's Not a Suspect in Wife's Death
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 21st 2011 8:25AM
Last week the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. announced they are re-examining the drowning death of movie star Natalie Wood. The news led to frenzied speculation as to whether her husband, actor Robert Wagner, would now be named a suspect in her death, which has always been shrouded in mystery. At a press conference Friday, a sheriff's spokesman told reporters that Wagner is not a suspect. "Her death was ruled an accident, an accidental drowing. And that's what it is. If, at the end of it, our investigation points to something else, then we'll address that."
However, over the last few days CBS viewers could have been forgiven for being rather confused about Wagner's status because he keeps appearing on screen in handcuffs. That's because, in a collision of art and life, the network's been promoting tomorrow night's episode of 'NCIS,' in which his character is accused of murder. After being asked if they'd considered postponing the episode, a CBS source told The Wrap that it "is running as scheduled."
Natalie Wood's Death to be Reinvestigated by Police
by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 18th 2011 7:00AM
It's been announced that police in Los Angeles are to reopen the inquiry into the drowning death of movie star Natalie Wood. She died in November 1981 aged 43 while boating off Catalina Island near the California coast with her husband Robert Wagner and movie star Christopher Walken. At the time the coroner ruled her death an accident, saying that Wood had been drinking and accidentally fell into the sea, striking her face on the side of the yacht 'Splendour.'However, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Dept. issued a statement Thursday saying they are re-examining the case. "Recently Sheriff's Homicide Investigators were contacted by persons who stated they had additional information about the Natalie Wood Wagner drowning. Due to the additional information, Sheriff's Homicide Bureau has decided to take another look at the case."
The dept. is due to hold a press conference about the matter on Friday at 11AM PT.
