'Buffy' Creator Joss Whedon Wraps Secret Movie Starring Nathan Fillion, Amy Acker, Alexis Denisof

by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 24th 2011 7:15AM
Joss WhedonIf you've ever wondered what 'Castle' star Nathan Fillion does on his days off, wonder no more. He apparently makes movies in secret with his erstwhile 'Firefly' boss, Joss Whedon.

According to 'The Wrap,' Whedon adapted, cast and filmed a new indie version of William Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' this summer without anyone finding out until after it was finished.

A website went up Sunday night announcing that principal photography has been completed on the guerrilla filmmaking project, which is lightheartedly described as "A Film by Joss Whedon Based on a Play."

The cast is a veritable smorgasbord of Whedon faves: As well as Fillion there's Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof from 'Angel' and 'Dollhouse,' and Sean Maher ('Firefly'). Although it could all be an elaborate hoax, we're already loving the idea of Acker and Denisof re-teaming to tackle the roles of reluctant lovers Beatrice and Benedick.

Nathan Fillion Talks 'Castle' Season 4, Casting His Dad, New Love Interests & More

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 16th 2011 11:00AM
Nathan Fillion, 'Castle'Nathan Fillion gives good interview. It's just a fact, although I realize not a very surprising one.

Going into the fourth season of 'Castle' (premieres Mon., Sept. 19, 10PM ET on ABC), he's still so invested in the Castle-Beckett relationship, the storylines, the ideas for where to go next, even the guest stars. He loves 'Castle' as much as the fans do, and it shows.

I caught up with Fillion to talk all about the jaw-dropping Season 4 premiere -- after last season's shooting and the big "I love you" cliffhanger, we certainly find our favorite will they-won't they TV couple treading new ground.

Fillion dished about women, Castle's usual distraction when things get tricky with Beckett, but also the new boss ("She's so mean!") and maybe, possibly getting Castle officially deputized to do some real policing.

Then we talked about this season's 'Ghostbusters'-inspired Halloween episode, Fillion's dream scenario for Season 4 and his personal casting choice to play Castle's dad that got him all choked up just talking about it.

Warning: There are some mild spoilers from the Season 4 premiere ahead.

EXCLUSIVE 'Castle' Season 4 Premiere Sneak Peek: 'She's Dying' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Sep 12th 2011 11:00AM
Stana Katic on 'Castle'For my money, 'Castle' wins the award for most jaw-dropping cliffhanger of the last season. Now that it's almost back -- one more week! -- we've got an exclusive sneak peek of the Season 4 premiere to ramp up your anticipation even more.

We've seen Lanie (Tamala Jones) wheeling a seriously wounded Beckett (Stana Katic) into the ER, and Castle's (Nathan Fillion) look of utter despair in the previews. In this extended scene from the first episode back (premieres Mon., Sept. 19, 10PM ET on ABC) we also see what happens once Beckett is inside the operating room -- including who is operating on her.

Watch this clip and tell us: Are you excited to see where things pick up with Castle and Beckett once she's better? Especially after Castle's big confession? And do you think Kate will remember what Castle said to her?

'Chuck' Star Zachary Levi Talks Nerd HQ: A More Intimate Alternative to Comic-Con

by Laura Prudom, posted Jul 20th 2011 6:40PM
Zachary Levi sporting Nerd Machine apparelStarting today, thousands of fans, celebrities, industry executives and journalists will make the annual pilgrimage to San Diego for Comic-Con International, a five-day festival of all that is geeky and fantastical.

For some, it's a chance to meet their favorite TV and movie stars, for others, it's to test out the latest video games, while plenty go just to get their hands on the newest comics, merchandise and free swag from studios. What they'd all likely agree on, though, is that with over 120,000 attendees, Comic-Con can be more than a little overwhelming.

Enter Zachary Levi, star of NBC's 'Chuck' and holder of some indisputable geek credibility. Levi is right alongside Nathan Fillion and Joss Whedon in terms of commanding a loyal nerd army, eager to follow him from project to project. Having experienced Comic-Con as both an entertainer and a fan, Levi found himself wondering if he could do something to improve the San Diego experience for the people it was supposedly designed for -- to allow fans and the people that they're fans of to interact in a more intimate, low-key setting, while still enjoying the same mecca of merchandise, video games and comic books they've come to know and love from Comic-Con.

Thus, the Nerd HQ was born -- viva la Nerdolution!

Happy Canada Day! TV's Sexiest Canadians

by Jean Bentley, posted Jul 1st 2011 9:00AM
When you think of Canada, what's the first thing that pops into your mind? Hockey, poutine, lumberjacks, Celine Dion or these attractive people:

Nina Dobrev, Taylor Kitsch
Contrary to popular belief, Canadians can be sexy. REALLY sexy. Case in point: the vampiness of Nina Dobrev in her dual roles on 'The Vampire Diaries'; the long-but-not-too-long hair and aloof-but-still-caring nature of Taylor Kitsch's Tim Riggins on 'Friday Night Lights;' the everything of Nathan Fillion on 'Castle.'

In hono(u)r of Canada Day (and in honor of posting pictures of hot actors on our site), check out AOL TV's list of the sexiest Canadians on TV. It's a holiday weekend, you're not doing any real work anyway ...

Erika Slezak Looks Back on 40 Years As Viki on 'One Life to Live'

by Michael Maloney, posted Apr 27th 2011 10:00AM
Erika SlezakThere really aren't words to describe what Erika Slezak must be feeling these days. The revered star, who has won six Outstanding Lead Actress Daytime Emmys for her iconic role as Victoria Lord Banks on 'One Life to Live,' is celebrating her 40th anniversary in Llanview this year.

Of course, like fans of the genre everywhere, the legendary actress is dealing with the news that ABC has canceled the long-running soap opera. "Please tell all our fans how deeply sorry I am to be losing this wonderful show that has so much heart and so much life," the actress said in a statement after the cancellation news was announced. "I will miss my work, my friends, my 'OLTL' family so very much. I consider this to be a terrible loss to the television community and especially to the New York community."

Today, the soap is honoring Slezak's 40 years of service with a special Viki-themed episode. It's one that fans will want to record and keep forever.

AOL TV spoke with the actress about her anniversary shortly before the cancellation news was announced, and she joyfully reflected on what 'OLTL' has meant to her. For starters, it certainly doesn't seem like 40 years have gone by.

"I sometimes still feel the same way that I did when I first walked into the studio 40 years ago -- young and not knowing what I was doing," she said. "Now, I know what I'm doing, but I can not believe that amount of time has gone by. There have been so many stories and so many people I've worked with."

'Castle' Set Visit: Castle & Beckett Get Soapy With 'One Life to Lose' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Mar 16th 2011 4:30PM
Castle, 'One Life to Lose'Long before 'Castle' became a ratings hit, Nathan Fillion was on 'One Life to Live.' Now Castle and Beckett are investigating a gruesome murder on the set of fictional soap 'Temptation Lane' (Mon., March 21, 10PM ET on ABC), which was actually shot on the set of real-life soap 'All My Children' with cameos from two of its stars.

Does that make any sense? All you need to know is it's got everything a great 'Castle' episode should, including guest spots from some pretty cool names and a few inside jokes.

Cleverly titled 'One Life to Lose,' the episode shows Beckett (Stana Katic) and crew getting called in to investigate an axe murder -- literally -- on the set of a popular soap opera.

'AMC' star Rebecca Budig plays (you guessed it) a soap star, but her TV husband Cameron Mathison is behind the camera here, playing director, and guest star Corbin Bernsen is playing Budig's TV love interest instead.

Freezing to Death, Beckett Almost Reveals Her Feelings Toward 'Castle' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 1st 2011 11:40AM
Castle and Beckett struggle to stay alive while trapped in a freezer.'Castle' (Monday, 10PM ET on ABC) has its unrequited-feelings storyline down to a science. Last week Castle almost admitted to having feelings for Beckett, and this week saw their roles reversed.

The action picked up with the pair still locked and dying in that freezer. Castle apologized for getting Beckett into this mess in the first place, but she was having none of that.

With her final breaths before unconsciousness took her, she came so close to saying what fans of the show have been waiting to hear from one of them.

"Just wanted you to know how much I l--"

Nathan Fillion Teases the Solution to 'Castle''s Big Freezer Dilemma

by Maggie Furlong, posted Feb 25th 2011 11:00AM
'Castle' star Nathan Fillion'Castle' has kicked up the stakes for our favorite crimefighting duo.

In part one of their big two-part story, we were left with a huge cliffhanger ending: Castle and Beckett locked in a walk-in freezer with a dead body, a possible terrorist right outside the door and a dirty bomb ticking down the seconds to explode.

In anticipation of part two, called 'Countdown' (Mon., Feb. 28, 10PM ET on ABC) -- with the previews showing a weakened Castle cradling Beckett (Stana Katic) saying "stay with me," and her giving a weak, breathless reply -- I caught up with star Nathan Fillion to try to get some scoop.

'Firefly,' Fillion, Fans and the Future

by Jay Black, posted Feb 22nd 2011 4:00PM
Firefly Nathan FillionTaking a break from his responsibilities in the fantasies of women across the globe, former 'Firefly' and current 'Castle' star Nathan Fillion mentioned recently that if he won the lottery, the first thing he would do is buy the rights to 'Firefly' and then distribute it on the Internet.

Rather than just taking the statement as the same idle if-I-won-the-lottery speculation we all do (I'd build my own Muon Collider then lure my middle-school bullies into it), the Internet decided to leap into action. There's currently a movement underway to explore the possibility of actually raising the money and getting the franchise into the hands of its fans.

Laura Prepon Talks Peanut Butter Pretzels, Kissing Nathan Fillion and Her Guest Spot on Tonight's 'Castle'

by Jean Bentley, posted Jan 3rd 2011 2:30PM
Laura Prepon on 'Castle'The set of 'Castle' must be a really fun place to work -- at least, that's the impression we got after chatting with Laura Prepon about her guest spot on tonight's episode.

"I love the show, and I love the people who run it and work on it," she gushed when TV Squad caught up with her a couple of days before Christmas.

For one thing, they have peanut butter pretzels at craft service. For another, although Nathan Fillion mocked her for bungling the rehearsal of a key kissing scene, she couldn't say enough nice things about the guy.

The Show Girl's Got Scoop on 'Parenthood' & 'Castle' and More Reasons to Watch 'Fringe' & 'Community' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 8th 2010 10:00AM
This week, I've got scoop from the set of 'Parenthood,' including what's going on with crazy Kristina (star Monica Potter) and some hints about a big celebration coming soon. I also catch up with 'Castle' star Nathan Fillion to talk about what he thinks of Beckett's new boyfriend, and the return of his ex-wife.

Then I give you even more reasons to watch two of the best shows on television: 'Community' and 'Fringe.' On 'Community,' chicken is front-and-center yet again this week as the Greendale gang gets locked in a KFC 11 Herbs & Spaces Bus. From what I saw, this episode -- an homage to 'Apollo 13' -- is sure to be a fan favorite.

And over on "Fringe,' you can see ... well, me! I know, who cares, you're seeing me now. So what if I told you you'd see Walter Bishop (John Noble) go nuts and drop trou in front of me and some other TV journos? Yep, that's more like it ...
