New York Yankees
Yankee champ Nick Swisher to guest on How I Met Your Mother
by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 11th 2009 7:02PM
If there was one guy on the New York Yankees championship team this past season who would be best described as a "character," it's outfielder Nick Swisher. This guy always had a smile on his face like he knew he had landed in a cushy spot and was happy about it. Well, he's done it again. Swisher will be guesting on How I Met Your Mother, playing a really complicated role -- himself. On the February 1 episode (tentative date), Swisher appears at MacLaren's Bar. The episode is called "The Perfect Week" and Nick shows up at the bar, competing with Barney for the attention of the ladies. Barney, reportedly, is not thrilled that a guy with World Series swagger is on his turf.
Guess who took this photo of Sean Hannity
by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 6th 2009 2:04PM

This is a picture of FOX News host Sean Hannity at the Yankees/Phillies game the other night (congratulations Yankees, blah, blah, etc). Ordinarily this wouldn't be a big deal, but it's who's taking the picture that makes it interesting. It's...Keith Olbermann! And Hannity is taking a picture of him, as the photo shows. No, they're not going to use the photos in some court case against each other, they actually get along (well, at the ball game anyway -- America's pastime!).

Was Fox rooting for the Yankees to win the World Series?
by Allison Waldman, posted Nov 5th 2009 4:04PM

Considering the incredible overnight ratings that Fox got for Game Six of the World Series, you might think I'm crazy to suggest that the network would be rooting for the New York Yankees last night to beat the Philadelphia Phillies, but I have evidence. All through the game, Fox was promoting Fringe and Bones, urging viewers to tune in tomorrow night -- tonight -- for new episodes. Why would the network be sending that message when there was a possibility of a Game Seven?
World Series and NBA debut get high ratings
by Danny Gallagher, posted Oct 29th 2009 7:31PM
Both the World Series and the start of the NBA season brought in big numbers for their respective networks this week. The MLB faceoff between the Yankees and the Phillies score Fox a 6.3 rating share or 19.3 million viewers in their timeslot. The NBA's doubleheader opener on Tuesday helped TNT score a record-breaking 3.7 million viewers. Stories like these make me long for the Yoda-like wisdom of baseball's Yogi Berra. Just think of the grammatically incorrect gems he could conjure.

Did Letterman go too far?
by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 10th 2009 11:29AM
David Letterman made a joke the other night about Sarah Palin's daughter going to a Yankees game and being impregnated by Alex Rodriguez (video below). Now, humor of the joke aside, can you imagine if a conservative host had made a joke about one of President Obama's daughters? What do you think the media's reaction would be? I think the joke is more about Rodriguez and his alleged antics with other women, but it also incorporates Palin's daughter in a rather unfortunate way.
