by AOL TV Staff, posted Oct 30th 2009 2:45PM
Whether it's the lifelike costumes, the special effects or the bizarre stories themselves, kids' TV shows can be downright terrifying. We've combed through television history and our own repressed memories to come up with a list of shows that leave both children and adults crying for their mommies. So grab your teddy bears, get out your therapist's number and enjoy our list of creepy kids' television shows ever. -- by Daynah BurnettIt's the New Zoo Revue, coming right at you! - VIDEO

Those of you of a certain age - and by certain age I mean middle-aged or at least approaching middle age - will find that this video brings about a flood of memories. Who remembers The New Zoo Revue? It was one of my regular early morning shows when I was a kid, along with Jabberwocky. It was about a small town inhabited by a giant talking frog named Freddie, a giant talking owl named Charlie, and a giant talking hippo named Henrietta. There were also humans that talked, Doug and Emmy Jo, but they were regular size.
Looking back, it's a very surreal, 70s educational show, but I guess it appealed to me when I was a kid. It went off the air in 1975, but before it did, the cast decided to have a little fun. In this outtake after the jump, things get a little raunchy. It's like they're saying, oh, the hell with it, this gig isn't going to last anyway. Needless to say, it's NSFW, even if the words are coming out of giant animals.
(As a bonus, here's another clip, featuring Mr. Dingle. Can you tell which future game show host that is?)
A crapload of classic TV intros
by Richard Keller, posted Jan 6th 2008 2:01PM
Do you have a few minutes? How about 310 of them? You'll need that many to watch all 310 (as of this writing) classic, and not so classic, TV show intros listed over at Net Notables.
Originally, the list only contained 101 intros from shows that aired from 1989 and below. But, as commenters continued to ask where their favorite intro was, more and more links were added. Most of them link to videos on YouTube, which means the five hours and 10 minutes you need to view all of the listed items increases exponentially. To give you an example, after you watch the Magnum P.I.introduction that everyone remembers you can also view the first, more jazzy version of the theme.
