'Kimmel': Are the Other 'X Factor' Judges Ganging Up on Simon Cowell? (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 13th 2011 3:00AM
In the past two weeks, Simon Cowell has gone from three to one act on 'The X Factor.' In both instances, it came down to the women on the panel to decide. The first week, they eliminated Drew. This week, Nicole Scherzinger threw it to the public vote and Rachel Crow was out."Do you guys feel like you ganged up on Simon's contestants specifically because you wanted to win this competition?" Jimmy Kimmel asked the other three judges on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC). All of them, of course, vehemently denied it.
'The X Factor' Recap: The Judges Choose The Top 12 (VIDEO)
by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 26th 2011 3:00AM
There were some controversial choices made during the judges' houses round of 'The X Factor,' but our mentors had the chance to right many wrongs with this week's live elimination show, as each category had to narrow their finalists down to three in order to proceed to America's vote next week.Up until tonight, the groups seemed like the weakest category by a mile, but smart song choices and confident choreography helped Paula up the ante and raise her category to the standard of the soloists -- though I doubt even the smooth moves of the Stereo Hogzz can compete with the likes of Drew, Josh or Stacy.
Join us after the jump to find out who made it into the top 12 to compete for your votes next week.
Enrique Iglesias is Moved by Christa Collins on 'The X Factor' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 17th 2011 5:00AM
It was the last of the Top 32 on a special Sunday edition of 'The X Factor' (Sun., 8PM ET on FOX) and it proved that this is going to be a brutal elimination for the judges. One thing 'The X Factor' has done for us is allow us to get to know each of these contestants personally and as performers, which makes these cuts as difficult for us to watch as it must have been for the judges to make.Christa Collins seemed to connect with Enrique Iglesias, who was helping Nicole Scherzinger make decisions in the Over 30s category. But did she do enough to make it to the live shows? It's a particularly brutal category, and one Scherzinger agonized over as she sees this as a last shot for so many of them.
'The X Factor' Recap: Top 4 Performances From the Judges' Houses (Part 1)
by Laura Prudom, posted Oct 14th 2011 5:15AM
['The X Factor - Season 1, Episode 7]An audition round is an audition round, and Hollywood Week by any other name ("Boot Camp") would smell as sweet, but now we've reached the "Judges' House" portion of 'The X Factor,' and this is where the show should really start to differentiate itself from its rivals.
Did it succeed? Partially. Whether any of the judges actually occupy these lavish abodes is questionable (I'm especially suspicious of Cowell), but it was a refreshing change to actually see the entirety of the contestants' performances (aside from Over 30 waiter James Kenney, who, I guess, the producers deemed too boring). Seeing only two artists between every ad break got more than a little tedious, though, as did the constant recapping of last week's events. But aren't we all jealous of Steve Jones and his jetsetting job?
Hit the jump for our four favorite performances of the night -- we picked one from each category, just to be fair, though right now I think that L.A. Reid's boys should eliminate almost everyone else.
Simon Cowell Explains 'The X Factor' Tutor Phase (VIDEO)
by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 12th 2011 6:15PM
Now that 'The X Factor' has moved past its 'Idol'-inspired laugh-at-the-weird people stage, it's beginning its 'The Voice'-inspired mentor phase, where the contenders will be split into 4 groups, each to be tutored by one of the show's judges. On 'Good Day LA' (weekdays, 7AM PT on FOX) Cowell explained what the show is looking for in its champion."You've got to find somebody and you've gotta show how you can turn them into a real winner in the real world. Not within a competition, 'cuz someone's always going to win a show, somebody you can say ... we helped make this person into a star," he explained.
Did Stacy Francis Make it Through 'X Factor' Boot Camp? (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Oct 7th 2011 7:15AM
It's been a series of ups and downs for 'X Factor' contestant Stacy Francis. First, thanks to the lack of an age limit for contestants, the 42-year old was allowed to compete despite an almost crippling lack of self-esteem.Then, the standing ovation for her knock-out audition was followed by judge Simon Cowell telling her to tone it down after her next performance. To cap it off, the day Francis arrived at boot camp she had received the devastating news that her father had died.
Last night she revealed that she'd missed her dad's funeral in order to stay in the competition. Was her sacrifice worth it?

It was the final rounds of Boot Camp this week on 'The X Factor' (Thu., 8PM ET on FOX). In two hours, we burned through the last of the group performances, watched their final chances to impress, witnessed the contestants finding out which 32 made it to Judges' Houses, and saw as the judges found out which groups they would be mentoring.!!SPOILER ALERT!!
It was a packed night of television for sure, and yet there was still time for some great vocal performances. For sure, this season features some true vocal powerhouses. And when it came time to make their final decisions, the judges had a couple more surprises up their sleeves.
'The X Factor' Judges Fight Over Contestant Tiah Tolliver
by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 29th 2011 6:15AM
As his fellow Brits would say, it was "handbags" time on 'The X Factor' last night as Simon Cowell lost his temper with his fellow judges.Teenage singer Tiah Tolliver split the judging panel straight down the middle, with Cowell -- "I'm saying 'yes' a hundred percent" -- and L.A. Reid voting to put her through to the next round, and the female judges voting to send her home.
When Nicole Scherzinger said "I'll have to pass," the crowd started booing, and an irritated Cowell exclaimed "Oh, for god's sake!"
Paula Abdul's decision to say no was greeted with Cowell hurling a piece of paper to the floor and turning away in disgust.
Stacy Francis Proves It's Never Too Late for Dreams on 'The X Factor' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 22nd 2011 12:00AM
Already an international sensation, Simon Cowell finally managed to bring 'The X Factor' (Wed., 8PM ET on FOX) stateside, and while it's expected to get massive ratings for this premiere, featuring the returns of Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul together, along with L.A. Reid, Nicole Scherzinger and ever-so-briefly Cheryl Cole. But as much as Cowell might wish it weren't so, it's about the contestants they manage to find. And while Chris Rene, who was 70 days sober and trying to turn his life around, blew everyone away with a heartfelt original performance, it was another contestant who perhaps best personified what makes 'The X Factor' different.
Simon Cowell Talks About Axing Cheryl Cole as 'The X Factor' Judge
by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 21st 2011 10:15AM
The excitement surrounding Simon Cowell's new reality talent show 'The X Factor' is reaching fever pitch ahead of tonight's premiere.Over the summer there was much drama off-screen as judge Cheryl Cole was booted from the panel after auditions had got underway and was replaced by the show's original co-host, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger.
Cowell and Scherzinger were guests on 'Piers Morgan Tonight' and he talked candidly about the reasons for Cole's departure: "I was talking to someone about this at the screening the other night and they put it very well -- she looked a bit bewildered."
Cowell -- who says he feels bad about the very public way in which Cole was fired -- added that "I took the view, along with a few other people, that she would have been more comfortable back in the UK."
He also opened up about his hopes for 'The X Factor' and whether it will take down 'American Idol.'
'Dancing with the Stars' - 'Performance #5' Recap

(S10E10) With Kate Gosselin gone from 'Dancing with the Stars,' the show can finally get to actual competition. Her disappearance from the bottom of the score board has now vanquished scores below 20. The contestants have two dances: either the Samba or Argentine Tango and the Swing Dance Marathon.
'Dancing with the Stars' - 'Performance #3' Recap
by Michael Pascua, posted Apr 13th 2010 1:34AM
(S10E06) The format of 'Dancing with the Stars' continues to borrow from other reality shows by creating different themes each week. This week the contestants will be scored by both technique and performance. The scores are still out of a 30. For the rumba and the tango, the judges will be looking for three specific dance moves. As the couples walk down the stairs, Maks tries to signal someone by tugging his ear and almost trips down the stairs. Kate continues to tell her children that she loves them via bad hand signs.
I had a problem with Brooke tonight. Not only did the crossing ribbons on her midsection make her look fat, was she pronouncing celebrity names incorrectly? Luckily, the filler this week were very interesting demos from professionals that didn't make the cut this season.

'Dancing With the Stars': Who Waltzes Away With a Win?
by David Hofstede, posted Mar 15th 2010 3:00PM
It's that time again. The celebrities have been gathered from across the sports and entertainment spectrum to show off their ballroom skills (or lack thereof) on season 10 of 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., March 22, 8PM ET on ABC). This year, there aren't any outsized fan bases among the participants, as there was last season with Donny Osmond, who took home the show's mirror-ball trophy over competition that was a little more polished on the dance floor. Hopefully, that means the results will be decided more by dance ability than popularity. Here's how we rank the season 10 contestants and their odds of winning:
