What's Hot on Inside Movies: Weekend Box Office and A Little 'Heart and Souls'

by Chris Jordan, posted Jan 1st 2010 2:57PM
Things are relatively quiet over at Moviefone's Inside Movies today -- and who can blame them as it is New Year's Day -- but there are a few interesting nuggets ready for your perusal.

There's a forecast of the weekend's box office and it looks pretty darn good, for Hollywood's sake. Expect the other-worldly success of 'Avatar' to continue, along with strong showings for 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: the Squeakuel' and 'Sherlock Holmes.' Inside Movies deduces a strong $350 total box office 'Avatar' by the end of the weekend. On the low end, a measly $4 mil for 'Nine.'

Dame Judi Dench on Sex, Drugs and Sean Connery (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Dec 21st 2009 1:00PM
Dame Judi Dench, on a promotional tour for her upcoming movie 'Nine,' stopped by 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' and proved more than a good sport when Ferguson asked her about supposed affairs, drug use and the sexiness of Sean Connery. (After all, she's not just a dame, she's a lady.)

Dench denied an affair with actor/comedian Billy Connolly, with whom she appeared in 'Mrs. Brown,' drug use during the indulgent 1970s while she was a stage actress, and a fling with Sean Connery, who Ferguson described as a "sexual creature."

Watch the video after the jump.

Heroes adds Jessica Collins to cast

by Varun Lella, posted Aug 3rd 2007 4:22PM
Jessica Collins HeroesThe Hollywood Reporter reports that the already large cast of Heroes is balooning ballooning toward ginormous -- which is now officially a word, FYI. NBC confirmed that Jessica Collins, formerly of ABC's The Nine, will be playing Sophie, a new super-powered female.

The article describes her as a mysterious woman who works at the organization tracking all the heroes, which I assume is Primatech Paper Company -- unless there is a new organization to be introduced.

In addition to Collins, Dania Ramirez, Dana Davis, David Anders, and Lyndsy Fonseca are all expected to join the cast in the second season.

The Simpsons season nine out on DVD in December

by Adam Finley, posted Sep 28th 2006 4:28PM

simpsonsThe ever-vigilant TVShowsonDVD has announced that the ninth season of The Simpsons will be ready for purchase in digital versatile format on December 19, just in time for any family members who might be reading this to grab the set for me for Christmas. Hell, I haven't even made it all the way through my eighth season set yet and already a new one has been announced -- not that I'm complaining. The ninth season has more than a few great episodes: the family's trip to New York City; Homer buying a handgun to protect his family; a religious debate spurned by the alleged remains of a dead angel; the students of Springfield Elementary stranded on an island a la Lord of the Flies; Homer and his reluctant family joining the Movementarian cult; Bart and Lisa becoming co-anchors on a student news program while Homer purchases and subsequently almost kills a helper monkey; and Homer climbing the dangerous Murderhorn mountain to earn Bart's respect.
