Occupy Wall Street Protesters vs. 'Law & Order: SVU' (VIDEO)
by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 9th 2011 7:45AM
It was a case of art colliding with life last night in downtown Manhattan as Occupy Wall Street protesters closed down the set of 'Law & Order: SVU.' The procedural drama was supposed to be shooting an OWS-themed episode and had built a fake OWS encampment in Foley Square.A call from @OccupyWallSt went out on Twitter last night asking OWS protesters to head to the set: "Light, camera, ACTION! Everybody head to Foley Square. Bring yr headshots and make yrself at home! See you at midnite!" Then, with the aid of the hashtag #Mockupy, the news quickly spread throught the twitterverse.
Vinny From 'Jersey Shore' Wants to Occupy Wall Street (Seriously)
by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 20th 2011 10:00AM
Vinny Guadagnino has the distinction of being both the youngest 'Jersey Shore' cast member and quite possibly the wisest. He's seen a lot in his time on the MTV reality show ... and that may be the understatement of the century. After a season in Italy in which he had sex with Snooki, visited his ancestral homeland in Sicily and, for the most part, managed to steer clear of the Situation's bizarre antics, Vinny's now found himself back in the States trying to expand his reality fame into an acting career, all while dealing with the strange, relentless celebrity that swirls around the show.
AOL TV spoke with Vinny about the enduring appeal (so far, anyway) of the 'Jersey Shore' phenomenon, and he offered his thoughts on why America has yet to grow tired of the over-tanned gang. He also admits that they were treated like "gods" by nearly everyone they encountered upon arriving back in Seaside to shoot Season 5 ... except for New Jersey's governor Chris Christie.
Our discussion turned political from there, as Vinny revealed his support for the Occupy Wall Street protests and his disgust with Republicans who will stop at nothing to bring down President Obama. Check out more after the jump ...
Stewart: Who Do Republicans Want Americans to Take America Back From? (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 19th 2011 4:15AM
Jon Stewart found himself very confused by the rhetoric coming from the right on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). Particularly, he couldn't understand why they're so upset about this Occupy Wall Street protest movement. He had clips of several Republican leaders denouncing the actions of these people and saying Americans shouldn't be standing up against fellow Americans.
And yet he had clips from just a couple of years ago of these same Republican leaders telling American leaders to stand up against the likes of teacher's unions, liberals, the media, and Planned Parenthood, among others.
Jon Stewart Has a Cautionary Message for One 'Occupy Wall Street' Protestor (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 18th 2011 4:15AM
Jon Stewart checked in on the "Occupy Wall Street" movement that's expanded globally since he left for vacation from 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). For the most part, he appreciated that people have been able to demonstrate peacefully and get their message of dissatisfaction with the status quo across. But all it takes is one person to derail that message.
"For all their popularity, for their participants with thoughtful critiques of our power structure, there's also this," he said throwing up a photo and then explaining. "A guy taking a s*** on a police car."
Letterman Talks to Bill Clinton About Who to Blame for Economy (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 13th 2011 3:45AM
With a political powerhouse like Bill Clinton on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), David Letterman couldn't resist talking about some of the serious issues plaguing the United States today. He couldn't understand why people who aren't struggling in these trying times aren't willing to have their taxes raised.
"If I was the kind of person who was struggling financially, and I saw somebody who wasn't, I would be more than happy to assail them for doing their fair share," he said.
But, as he argued, he's always looking to blame somebody, which he thinks is human nature. Clinton disagrees.
