ESPN bans New York Post over Erin Andrews peephole photos
by Joel Keller, posted Jul 23rd 2009 6:00PM
I wouldn't say that we here at TV Squad have been purposefully silent about this Erin Andrews peephole mishegas; there's just been more interesting stuff going on. It seemed like a small, albeit creepy, story on the surface: popular sideline reporter and object of the blogosphere's affection gets shot naked in her hotel room through a peephole. Without a doubt, it's a depressing story, both for Andrews, whose privacy was violated on many levels, and for the sports blogosphere, who have to endure yet another accusation that their frat boy shenanigans helped foster this kind of behavior. But it was still a small story. That was, of course, until The New York Post decided to make the oh-so-classy move of publishing stills of the video in print and on their website.
Now it's getting serious: ESPN has banned all Post reporters from appearing on any of their shows.
Seinfeld ready for a new sitcom? (updated)
by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 7th 2008 11:22AM
Remember last October when Jerry Seinfeld was all over NBC promoting Bee Movie? Well, maybe there was more going on with Jerry and the Peacock people than just honey-related promos. PageSix.com is reporting today that Jerry Seinfeld is in talks with NBC for a new series. You have to assume that if there's truth to this, the network is probably bending over backwards to secure a new Seinfeld. Heck, if Jerry wanted to do a series about a forensic scientist who also does comedy on the side, they'd greenlight that, too! Will they call it Seinfeld Redux? Seinfeld Squared? Seinfeld Deux?
Can Idol producer save Michael Jackson's career?
by Liz Finn-Arnold, posted Feb 10th 2007 3:45PM
Michael Jackson needs a career comeback in a big way. According to Page Six, Idol creator Simon Fuller may be just the man who can make that happen. Or at least Wacko Jacko hopes so.Jackson reportedly has met several times with Fuller in Las Vegas to discuss his comeback strategy. Robin Leach called it a "perfect match" with "the world's biggest pop star being looked after by the most successful mogul manager in the world."
Next on American Idol: Prince?
by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 3rd 2006 2:09PM
The NY Post's Page Six is reporting that The same source says that Prince "hates the show and has never even watched it." Um, how can he hate it if he doesn't even watch it? Not that he wouldn't hate it if he watched it. I'm sure he would.
Rachael Ray is a bum!
by Karina Longworth, posted Dec 27th 2005 10:19AM
Or, was, at any rate. Page Six
(cribbing from the ever-reliable National Inquirer) is reporting today that the uber-hyper TV cook, now host
of the Food Network's 30 Minute Meals as well as a frequent guest on Oprah, dropped out of Pace
University after after blowing through her tuition money, and, with creditors on her tail, fled New York for the
Adirondacks. "She spent the money and then she didn’t want her mom to find out, so she
borrowed money to pay her tuition, and then she couldn’t pay it back," a source told the scandal sheet.
"She was bouncing checks, and some people were threatening her.” Ray's official bio says nothing
about her days at Pace – only that she worked in several NY gourmet stores before deciding that
"though this New York City fast track was exciting, Rachel ... wanted to return to the lifestyle of the
Adirondacks.” Her rep insists that she left New York after being mugged by the same man twice, a story which
Ray's father, Jim, confirmed to the Inquirer. " She thought she’d be raped
or murdered the last time," Jim said. "Fortunately a dog barked and he ran off.”Martha Stewart to invest in Nirvana?
by Karina Longworth, posted Dec 22nd 2005 2:54PM
From the Totally Unsubstantiated Rumor file: Page Six is
"reporting" this morning that a cashed-strapped Courtney Love - slimmed down and drug free but apparently
broke as all get out – is working on selling the rights to her late husband Kurt Cobain's musical output. This
comes after a messy, multi-year battle between Love and Cobain's former band mates Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic (as
well as original drummer Chad Channing, at least according to the Sixers) over the future of the Nirvana catalogue: if
I remember correctly, the boys wanted to put everything in the hands of the fans, whilst Love wanted to slowly parcel
out the outakes and rarities to ensure the maximum padding for Frances Bean's college fund. Page Six says Love is
looking for $100 million.TV Squad Hot Topics
