Par Avion
Michael Emerson hints at Lost surprises
Michael Emerson recently did an interview with The Trades, and the Lost actor gave his own interpretation of the enigmatic Ben Linus. He also hinted at the possibility of a Ben flashback, and discussed upcoming episode twists. Here's a brief recap of the major points covered in the interview:
- Emerson is currently deciding whether or not to attend his high school reunion. He believes that his fame might overshadow the event, making things "uncomfortable" for his former classmates. How different from Ben, who thrives on making people uncomfortable!
- The actor believes that the Others periodically need "fresh blood" to come to the island in order to preserve their community.
Lost audio podcast recap: March 20, 2007
The newest Lost audio podcast is available on ABC's website, and Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse are finally back as hosts. The executive producers discussed past episodes "Par Avion" and "Enter 77," and teased upcoming episodes "The Man From Tallahassee" and "Exposé." Cast member Emilie de Ravin also discussed her work on the "Par Avion" episode. Here are the highlights:
-
Emilie de Ravin felt that "Par Avion" was the most emotionally difficult of all her past Lost performances. She is also sure that Jack and Claire will eventually discover that they are half-siblings.
Lost Easter egg hunt: Par Avion
In addition to featuring several huge surprises, "Par Avion" included the usual set of Easter eggs. Some were clear-cut, and some have been disputed on various blogs and message boards. So far, fans have come up with a decent list of clues, questions, and theories.
The Numbers: After Claire's tragic car accident, the number 108 was shown on her odometer (108 is the sum of all six numbers, as well as the magic timer number in the Hatch). During another flashback scene in the hospital, the following could be heard over the loudspeaker: "Dr. Addison, phone call on line 4." These examples could reinforce the idea that the numbers are cursed.
Lost death pool update: Week six
The death pool gets more interesting with each new episode. "Par Avion" featured another unexpected death, and a few pool participants have moved ahead of the pack as a result. I will wait to name names until after the jump, but I can say that this death qualifies for the "awesome death" bonus points. The death scene was so cool that I actually watched it a couple of times.
Two people marked this person for death, so no one receives double points this time around. The final total for this week is 21 points (5 for a correct pick, 11 episode points, and 5 bonus points for a cool death). Check out the updated pool standings and death specifics below. Lost: Par Avion

(S03E12) In the words of Keanu Reeves, whoa. There was a ton of information to process in this episode. "Par Avion" featured at least three major shocks, all of which were pretty satisfying. Claire has had so few flashback episodes that I was not sure what to expect. This episode definitely helped me to understand (and like) Claire much more.
Lost audio podcast recap: March 12, 2007
ABC has posted the newest Lost audio podcast, which includes cast and crew interviews and a clip from this week's episode. Cast member Michael Emerson discusses his take on Ben Linus, and co-executive producer Jean Higgins talks about the "nuts and bolts" of filming in Hawaii. Here are the highlights:
- When out in public, Emerson gets fan reactions that range from fearful to formal.
- The actor loves performing Shakespeare; Macbeth is his all-time favorite play.
- He enjoys the "charged subtext" that his character, Ben, brings to each scene.
Is ABC's Lost preview a spoiler? - VIDEO
ABC may have revealed too much in its weekly Lost sneak preview video. The main page on Lost's website currently shows a clip from this week's episode, "Par Avion." The clip, and more detailed discussion of the preview, will appear after the jump.
Generally speaking, the clip features a conversation between Kate and Mikhail, the man that Locke, Kate, and Sayid encountered in "Enter 77." Mikhail reveals information that some viewers have been debating about for quite a while. I would hesitate to call the information a major spoiler, but it is far juicier than anything ABC usually includes in its sneak peeks. Stop reading now if you do not want to be spoiled for "Par Avion."
