'Parks & Recreation': Leslie Gives the Best Presents (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 9th 2011 2:30AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'Citizen Knope'This holiday-themed installment of 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC) looked at the fallout of Ben's resignation and the scandal that rocked Leslie's campaign. With a two-week suspension, Leslie found herself simply unable to do nothing, so she started a community action group.

But it was her actions, via proxy Ann, at work that spurred everybody else to action. As usual, Leslie gave the most thoughtful gifts to everyone, so this year they decided to return the favor. Settling on a scale replica gingerbread model of the office. It would prove to be a huge winner.

'The Trial of Leslie Knope' Rocks 'Parks & Recreation' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 2nd 2011 2:00AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'The Trial of Leslie Knope'We've been watching for weeks now as the relationship between Leslie and Ben has been tearing her up on 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC). As we were reminded this week, at one point the pair of them even bribed a government official to keep their relationship a secret.

It was a gift card and a kiss, but the point remains. These are things that go against everything Leslie Knope believes in, so finally she and Ben -- who'd decided to be together regardless of the rules -- told Chris about their relationship and how long it had been going on.

Leslie Throws Caution to the Wind, Chooses Ben on 'Parks & Recreation' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 18th 2011 2:00AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'Smallest Park' If Ron isn't careful, he's going to get all soft and mushy. He was fully invested in Andy's search for a college class to take, like a parent would be. Of course, Ron caring about the people he works with, despite his crusty exterior, is part of what makes his character work so well on 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC).

Leslie, on the other hand, has been struggling with how much she cares about Ben, going so far as to make terrible professional decisions week after week rather than deal with the situation head on. Until this week, that is.

'Sexiest Man Alive 2011': Which TV Stars Made the Cut?

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 17th 2011 6:05AM
Bradley Cooper, People's 'Sexiest Man Alive 2011'Bradley Cooper's been celebrating being named as 'People' magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive 2011.' After saying his first thought on hearing the news was, "My mother is going to be so happy," the buff 'Hangover' star joked "I'm waiting for Dax Shepard to come out, and that it's an episode of 'Punk'd.'"

Cooper added: "I think it's really cool that a guy who doesn't look like a model can have this. ... I think I'm a decent-looking guy. Sometimes I can look great, and other times I look horrifying."

So which TV stars have been deemed hot enough to join Cooper on the list? Well, there are some conventional hotties like 'Luther' star Idris Elba, 'Community's Joel McHale and 'Game of Thrones' glowering Horse Lord Jason Momoa, but there are also a few guys who are, well, perhaps less obviously hot in the conventional sense.

Ron Swanson Knows How to Profit from the End of the World on 'Parks & Rec' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 4th 2011 2:00AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'End of the World'It was the end of the world this week on 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC). We found it rather charming that the Parks Department of Pawnee is so gracious and cordial to this group of fanatics who calculate the end of the world regularly, rescheduling each time the world doesn't end as predicted.

Ron Swanson has even found a way to profit from their zealous conviction. He brought with him some flutes and recorders he'd fashioned at home in his wood shop, and charged exorbitant prices to the believers.

His look to the camera when one of them slyly asked if he'd take a check he could deposit tomorrow -- after the world ended, of course -- was absolutely priceless.

Leslie Tries to Drown Tom After He Ruins Her Campaign Party on 'Parks & Rec' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 28th 2011 1:30AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'Meet n Greet'Tom Haverford is a narcissistic tool, but he does have a heart underneath his shameless self-promotion. Unfortunately, it came out way too late to salvage Leslie's campaign party for local small business owners on 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC).

After agreeing to put the party together for her through his company, Entertainment 720, Tom instead turned it into a huge promotional opportunity for the company. He hijacked her personal encounters with key business owners, and then took over her presentation to them as well.

Chris Doesn't Understand the Concept 'Too Much Information' on 'Parks & Rec' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 14th 2011 1:15AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'Pawnee Rangers'While Ron and Leslie were off with their respective ranger troops competing for which one was cooler, Tom and Donna headed off on their annual "Treat Yo' Self" day of self-pampering on 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC). Feeling sorry for him, Donna brought along Ben, who really needs to learn how to relax.

That left Chris and Jerry at the office, which lead to Chris meeting Jerry's daughter. And Chris, being exuberant and "good" in every way, decided he was going to be completely honest about his interest in Jerry's daughter.

Ron Teaches April How to Keep People at a Distance on 'Parks & Recreation' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 7th 2011 12:30AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'Born & Raised'While much of the main cast was off trying to prove Leslie was born in Pawnee, as she states in her book, three of them were left behind at the office on 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8PM ET on FOX). April and Ron have a great office relationship -- she's like the pupil he never knew he wanted -- but neither of them have every really connected with Ann.

So Ann spent much of the episode trying to become closer with them ... or maybe just get them to talk to her. Once it started working, Ron shut her down hard. "Thank you for sharing, Jenny," he said completely unnerving her.

Ron Swanson Is No Longer His Own Man on 'Parks & Recreation' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 30th 2011 12:45AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'Ron & Tammys'Ron Swanson is one of the manliest men to ever appear on television. His mustache alone has become the stuff of TV legend, which made his transformation on this week's 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC) all the more tragic.

For the second time in series history, an ex-wife named Tammy has proven able to completely transform his behavior. Only this time, she completely emasculated him. First of all, Ron without a mustache is a frightening thing to behold, but then he passed on yelling about government spending?

Tammy One Tells Ron She's Here to Help on 'Parks & Recreation' Premiere (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 23rd 2011 1:30AM
'Parks & Recreation' - 'I'm Leslie Knope'While it took all episode to get there, we finally got the much-anticipated encounter between Ron and Tammy 1 (Patricia Clarkson) on the season premiere of 'Parks & Recreation' (Thu., 8:30PM ET on NBC). It was certainly worth the wait, as it sets up what's sure to be an interesting storyline.

Ron Swanson is being audited. Tammy 1 gave him an envelope with IRS on it, but does that mean she was serving him the papers, or providing him the help she said she was there to give? Is she an IRS agent, or did Ron mean something else when he said she ruins lives?

We'll have to wait to find out those answers, but what we don't have to wait for is to see Leslie transition from the most dedicated public servant to the most dedicated candidate in a political campaign. With Andy just hired on as her new assistant, to help around the Parks Department during her campaign, we see a recipe for disaster -- and hilarity.

EXCLUSIVE: Take a Trip Down Memory Lane with 'Parks and Rec's' Favorite Couple

by Maureen Ryan, posted Sep 15th 2011 9:00AM
'Parks and Recreation' returns Sept. 22, and to get you prepped for the new season, we've got an exclusive montage that serves as a refresher course on the relationship of Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) and Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler).

Remember how they didn't really like each other way back when Ben first arrived in Pawnee? Well, that didn't last long, as the two government nerds found out they may of the same interests in common. Eventually they fell in love, and that was more adorable than a basket of puppies.

But as we saw at the end of last season, when Leslie was asked to run for office, she realized she'd have to make a decision about her relationship with Ben. Pawnee government employees aren't allowed to date each other, so she could keep seeing him in secret (and risk a scandal if the relationship became public) or break it off with him. I've seen the first two episodes of the show's new season, and I won't give anything away about what happens except to say that Leslie's dilemma occupies much of the season 4 premiere.

Talking TV Podcast Talks 'Louie' and 10 Returning Shows We're Excited About

by Maureen Ryan, posted Sep 8th 2011 2:15PM
With the onslaught of new shows around the corner, Ryan McGee and I decided to talk briefly about 10 returning programs we're quite interested in (we each picked five shows).

And of course, the word "brief" was in our podcast planning documents, but it didn't quite work out that way. Between our opening gabfest about the FX show 'Louie,' which concludes its second season tonight, and the discussions of the other 10 shows, the podcast ended up being about 90 minutes long.

The rundown of shows we discussed, which includes 'The Good Wife,' 'Supernatural,' 'Boardwalk Empire,' 'Luther' and 'Glee,' is below.

First Look at the Tammy vs. Tammy Drink-Off on 'Parks and Recreation' (VIDEO)

by Maureen Ryan, posted Sep 2nd 2011 4:45PM
Tammy vs. Tammy in an "old-fashioned prairie drink-off?" Holy shot glasses, the new season of 'Parks and Recreation' can't arrive fast enough.

In the video below, we get our first glimpse of Patricia Clarkson as Tammy 1, Ron Swanson's first ex-wife, for whom the adjective "formidable" seems inadequate. We also see Paula Pell as the intimidating Tammy Zero, the mother of all Ron Swanson goodness (are we a little disappointed that Ron's mom, the O.G. Tammy, if you will, doesn't have her own awesome mustache? Discuss in comments).

In the four-minute behind-the-scenes clip, which features the 'Parks and Recreation' cast talking about what's to come when the show returns, the Tammys sit down for the aforementioned drinkoff, and unwisely, Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) tries to keep up.
