Normal for a Day on 'Party Down'If you were a rock star, would you yearn for a normal life? That's the question on 'Party Down' (Fri., 10PM ET on Starz). Fictional rocker "Jackal Onassis" is a Marilyn Manson-style star who has grown tired of the fame, the money and the endless groupies. 'Party Down' - 'Jackal Onassis Backstage Party' Recap (Season Premiere)

(S2E01) Lydia: "Me and Escapade left him back in Wapato." Casey: "Escapade? That's your ... car?" Lydia: "My daughter, the future star."

It's hard watching 'Party Down' knowing that this show will likely not be back for a third season. But, set aside all the casting news -- virtually all of the cast is committed to new pilots and series star Adam Scott is going to 'Parks and Recreation' -- and 'Party Down' is just as enjoyable as it was last season. The writing remains sharp and quick, while the sardonic wit that makes this show so special continues to flourish.

The season 2 premiere finds the caterers backstage at a concert of the fictional rocker Jackal Onassis (Jimmi Simpson). Henry (Adam Scott) has been promoted to team leader and Ron (Ken Marino) is no longer with the team, but runs into them at the concert. Kyle (Ryan Hansen) and Roman (Martin Starr) are still there, not finding much success in their careers yet.

What to Watch: April 23

'Party Down' (10PM, Starz) season 2 premiere
Season one star Jane Lynch has moved on with her scene-stealing turn on 'Glee,' but the new season of 'Party Down' doesn't miss a hilarious, naughty, Hollywood-spoofin' beat, thanks to the addition of 'Will & Grace' alum Megan Mullally as the newest member of the catering staff. Mullally is Lydia, a newly-divorced mom who has moved to Los Angeles to help her daughter -- Escapade -- become the next big kid star. She's also on the hunt for a new hubby (preferably a rich one) so she can be a stay-at-home mom/Escapade's manager, full-time. As for the rest of the crew, Henry is now the team leader (a very stressed-out team leader), Ron and Casey both make surprise appearances and Roman gets to live out his rock fantasies in the premiere, when he switches places with hard-partyin' rocker Jackal Onassis while the Party Down gang is catering Jackal's backstage soiree.
