Paula Deen Reflects On Her Long Road to TV Chef Stardom (VIDEO)
by Stephanie Opella, posted Nov 14th 2011 6:45PM
Paula Deen has come a long way since her lunch delivery service in Savannah, Georgia. She sat down with 'Early' (weekdays, 7AM ET on CBS) to talk about her career and new book called 'Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible.' Their first stop was Paula's restaurant, The Lady and Sons in Savannah. "It's my hope that when people sit down at these tables, they feel like they have slipped their feet back under their grandmother's table," Deen explained.Lately, Deen has been getting some backlash for the high fat and salt content of her food. Earlier this year, chef and host of 'No Reservations' Anthony Bourdain said she was, "the most dangerous person to America." Rather than alter her recipes, Deen has advocated moderation in the frequency of eating southern cooking. "I don't do it seven days a week, but when I do, I do it," she said with a smile.
Paula Deen Talks About Being Dr. Oz's Health Project (VIDEO)
by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 17th 2011 4:45PM
Paula Deen is about to get a health-makeover from Dr. Oz. That's right ... Deen, who's become famous for cooking every possible thing in many sticks of butter and is also a cigarette smoker, went on 'Rachael Ray' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to talk about the daunting prospect of embracing a more healthy lifestyle."Yes, I'm a project," Dean admitted, before protesting Oz's assertion that each piece of her fried chicken contains 1,400 calories. "I think he got his information wrong ... it's got to be the whole chicken," she joked.
Paula Deen Flirts With Matt Lauer and Makes Him Uncomfortable (VIDEO)
by Alex Moaba, posted Oct 11th 2011 1:00PM
Matt Lauer set himself up for a flirtatious interview when he introduced Paula Deen as "TV's sexiest female chef." That set the tone for a 'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) cooking segment that was supposed to be about mashed potatoes but ended up being more about Deen getting handsy in the kitchen."Why do you like buttermilk in so many recipes?" Lauer asked. "The buttermilk gives it a little tang, just a little bite," Deen replied, squeezing his cheek. "You get named the sexiest chef on TV and start flirting with everybody," Lauer quipped.
The Cast and Crew of 'Cougar Town' Judge 'Food Network Star' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 27th 2011 9:45AM
The contestants on 'Food Network Star' (Sun., 9PM ET on Food) got to visit the set of 'Cougar Town,' where they were given the challenge of cooking for various members of the show's staff. Three of them (Susie, Justin D. and Whitney) cooked for the cast, where we learned that Busy Philipps has a pretty discerning palette.!!SPOILER ALERT!!
When it came time for their critiques, the best they could muster up about Justin D. seemed to be support for his glasses. "He's got that sexy Harry Potter chef thing going on," Brian Van Holt said.
There were several problems with Whitney's dish. Paula Deen was on-hand as well, and she said, "it was just like a vegetable dish. It bored me out of my gourd."
Paula Deen Puts Makeup on Her Young Son (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Apr 19th 2010 12:30PM
After receiving a compliment from Rachael Ray on her looks, celebrity chef Paula Deen chalks up her appearance to good makeup, then laments the fact men can't enjoy the transformative power of makeup as well. This, however, didn't stop Deen from once making up her young son Jamie, she said on 'The Rachael Ray Show' (weekdays, syndicated). Deen, who says her two sons were "beautiful" when they were children, laughingly admits to Ray that she once curled one son's hair and applied mascara to his eyelashes. Hey, it's a mother's right, isn't it?

Paula Deen Pulls Things Out of Her Bra on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Mar 26th 2010 3:03PM
Award-winning chef Paula Deen appeared on the latest episode of 'The View' (weekdays, 11AM ET on ABC) and talked about, of all things, her breasts. First, she pulled her silicone breast enhancers out of her bra. And after that... things started to get weird. The conversation moved on to a general discussion of older female breasts. "If I took off my bra, it would look like two wet socks with rocks in 'em," Deen said. Meanwhile, Whoopi Goldberg called her breasts "Snoopys." "... Because they're long, and they've got the Snoopy nose at the end." At one point Goldberg said, "Okay. I'm just so messed up by all of this." We agree, Whoopi. We agree.
Paula Deen's Getting Sued, Y'all
by Danny Gallagher, posted Mar 23rd 2010 6:45PM
She may seem like America's sweet, down home cooking mama, but at least one grumpy Gus out there sees her as Tony Soprano's mother, at least if you read the lawsuit filed against her and her company. Celebrity Chef Tours filed a $40 million lawsuit against the TV cook and her sons for what appears to be a breach of contract dispute.
Apparently, she was supposed to go on a 10-city tour but the promoter claims she pulled the plug on it at the last minute. The promoter also took issue with some of the "language" she used in her promotional videos, claiming they were loaded with "profanity and sexual innuendo." Did one of her tour stops include a visit to Russell Simmons' "Def Cooking Jam"?

In preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday, Food Network's Paula Deen was volunteering at the Hosea Feed the Hungry charity in Atlanta, handing out hams, when she got hit in the face with a flying ham. Melanie Hutsell is alive, and she's impersonating Paula Deen
by Eliot Glazer, posted Jun 14th 2009 1:01PM
Once upon a time, Melanie Hutsell was on top of the world. And by "on top of the world," we mean she was on Saturday Night Live, doing characters whose signature dialogue quietly seeped into the mainstream conscious and were applauded on arrival by the studio audience. And then she vanished, only to become the butt of many a joke among SNL aficionados. But we found her via
TV stars dominate Forbes's list of top-earning celeb chefs
by Allison Waldman, posted Aug 12th 2008 5:23PM
You know why Rachael Ray is smiling all the time? She's the richest food star in the world. According to the latest Forbes list of top-earning celebrity chefs, Rachael Ray leads the pack. In fact, of the top 10 names, all but two are TV stars. Therefore, you better believe that all that exposure on Food Network, Bravo, Travel Channel, Fine Living, BBC America, and Fox -- not to mention syndication and appearances on talk shows and demonstrations on the Today Show -- makes a big difference.
The Next Food Network flub
by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 18th 2008 9:31AM
The Food Network is one of my favorite channels, I admit it. I can tune in just about anytime and enjoy Ace of Cakes or Good Eats or Boy Meets Grill or Paula Deen, whatever. Generally speaking, they seem to have a good, consistent and enjoyable programming package. Okay, that's what's good about FN. Now for the sour to go with the sweet. Last night I was catching up with The Next Food Network Star, watching the second showing of the reality competition show because I wasn't able to watch the original broadcast. No big deal, right? Wrong!
Paula Deen going into syndication
by Allison Waldman, posted Apr 15th 2008 10:42AM
Move over, Rachael Ray! Another Food Network bird is straying for the nest to try her wings in syndication. Southern diva Paula Deen is readying a daytime cooking show for syndication in 2009. She also following Rachael's lead by not giving up her secure and lucrative connection to Food Network. Her Paula's Home Cooking and Paula's Party programs will remain Food Network staples. The challenge for Paula will be coming up with a show that's not simply an echo of her other two shows. Unlike Rachael, who does a full-fledged talk show with a cooking segment, Paula's new effort is being called a "cooking" show. That could be limiting.
