Power
Numb3rs: Power
(S04E12) "We need simulations for our game theory algorithm to determine what our next step should be as a couple." - Charlie
Nerds in love. Awww. If I started talking that way to my girlfriend... I'd probably be sleeping on the couch. Whenever Charlie starts talking like that, all I can think of is that throaty hacking/laughing sound that Professor Frink from The Simpsons makes.
Once again, Charlie and Amita were discussing about moving in together, and once again that's all it was -- a discussion. It's old at this point and frankly, I wish they would just get it over with. I was honestly hoping for some tension when Larry asked Amita to assist on his new research project; perhaps some jealousy from Charlie. No such luck. So if they're so happy together and everything is perfect, explain to me why they aren't living together?
Big Love: Circle the Wagons
(S02E09) Things are certainly heating up on Big Love. I don't know for certain what big finale we are gearing up for. I used to think that it was Bill taking over as head of the U.E.B. (United Effort Brotherhood). I thought last season was leading Bill toward being the prophet. But now I'm not so sure. Now, more and more, I think things are careening toward Bill losing everything. I don't think he'll lose the store (though, that would make Margie's concerns foreshadowing), but I think he is going to lose Barb. And that, in Bill's world, would be everything. My Name is Earl: Stole a Badge
(S01E21) It's been said that absolute power corrupts absolutely, and Earl Hickey's actions after pilfering a
policeman's badge out of the unsuspecting officer's shoes at the bowling alley a few years back is the epitome of the
phrase.
As Earl and friends use the badge to their advantage to "live in a world of free pie," the policeman (Stewart, played by Yes, Dear's Mike O'Malley) who lost it is subject to ridicule from fellow officers at his precinct, which consists of his sisters and his mother. He ends up doing rest-stop detail (is there such a beat as this?), and suffers from constant humiliation from his predicament.
When Earl and Randy come across the badge at the storm drain, Earl decides to make amends by returning it to the
police. He then learns about Stewart, and sees that not only did he steal a badge, but Earl took Stewart's dignity.
Earl and Randy concoct a scheme whereby they would have Creepy Rodney, played by everyone's favorite character actor
Clint Howard (brother of Ron), steal a gun loaded with blanks and the badge, commit a crime, and then Stewart
would rush in and save the day.
Dick Wolf prepping another drama for NBC
I feel like a broken record. It seems like just yesterday
that I was telling you about a new drama
created by Law and Order creator Dick Wolf. That one is called Conviction and it begins after the
Olympics. Wolf already has another drama pilot in the works for NBC. This one is called Power, and it's
actually a little different from his other four shows currently on NBC. It's not a medical drama or anything. But, he
doesn't plan to wrap-up his stories at the end of each hour. This time, he's setting his story with a team of young
federal task force agents and U.S. attorneys investigating Hollywood power brokers (hence, the title) on a laundry list
of offenses including wiretapping and extortion. Wolf says the popularity of series like 24 and The
Sopranos show that there can be success beyond self-contained episodes. NBC hasn't greenlighted the pilot yet so
it's doubtful that we'll see Power in the fall.TV Squad Hot Topics
