President Obama Announces Osama bin Laden Has Been Killed (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 2nd 2011 12:58AM
President Barack Obama announces Osama bin Laden is deadEast coast fans of 'Celebrity Apprentice' were probably quite surprised when NBC pre-empted the ending of the episode, before the elimination, with an unplanned 'NBC News Special Report' (Sun. 10:50PM ET on NBC) for a speech by President Obama.

Earlier in the night, word had come out that Obama was going to speak to the American people at 10:30 PM ET, but it was later than that by almost an hour. All the major broadcast networks carried the speech, pre-empting regularly scheduled programming on the East Coast and delaying start times on the West Coast.

By the time the president's speech began, CNN and all the other major news outlets were reporting that the president would be revealing that Osama bin Laden had been killed by American forces and that his body was in US custody.

Leno Shows George W. Bush His Own Presidential 'Blooper Reel' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 19th 2010 4:41AM
Leno Shows George W. Bush His Own Presidential 'Blooper Reel' It's been a decade since George W. Bush appeared on 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). So he and Jay Leno had a lot of catching up to do.

Leno started out with some basic praise for the former president -- and all the jokes he gave late night hosts a chance to make: "In the last ten years ... thank you for all the material." Bush was gracious in the face of this zinger, merely laughing in response.

Mr. Bush's presidency may be over, but Jay wanted to run through some highlights, and had compiled a presidential 'blooper reel' of sorts. Leno showed some classic awkward "Bush moments," including the time that Bush tried to escape a press conference in China -- only to find that the door was locked.

During his appearance, Pres. Clinton discussed his daughter's extremely lavish wedding -- which took place this past summer. Estimates for the cost of the marriage ceremony were between $3 and $5 million. The price tag for Chelsea Clinton's wedding cake alone was around $11,000, and about $500,000 was spent on flowers. Wow.

Pres. Clinton called the ceremony his "contribution to the economic stimulus," adding that he was surprised "the unemployment rate didn't drop" after the marriage took place. On a more serious note, the former President said the wedding was a major passage in his life, and that it made him feel like Chelsea was fully grown up.
