Fallout from 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon''s Michele Bachmann intro music controversy continues.

According to EW, The Roots, the in-house band on 'Late Night,' must now get their song choices approved by NBC. The band's frontman Questlove said he understands the need for the new process.

"It's still a comedy show, so they promise not to step on my toes or that type of thing, but they definitely want to know the title of the song, the subject matter of the song, can it be seen as an insult?" he said.

Jimmy Fallon apologized to Congresswoman Michele Bachmann Tuesday night for the fact that his 'Late Night' house band The Roots played a snippet of a 1985 Fishbone song called 'Lyin' Ass B*tch' as she was introduced on the show.

Bachmann accepted his apology but demanded one from NBC as well. Doing the rounds of TV and radio talk shows Wednesday Bachmann alleged that NBC's failure to act in the matter demonstrated that she was a victim "of bias from the Hollywood Entertainment elite."

Now the AP reports that the GOP Presidential candidate has received an apology from NBC. According to Bachmann's spokeswoman Alice Stewart, the network's vice president for late night programming, Doug Vaughan, wrote to her offering his most sincere apologies.

On Tuesday Bachmann's Democratic colleague, Congresswoman Nita Lowey (New York), protested the choice of song and issued a statement calling on NBC to apologize.

After Monday night's show Jimmy Fallon joked that bandleader Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson had been reprimanded, tweeting "@questlove is grounded." However, Tuesday night he went further and apologized: "I'm honored that @michelebachmann was on our show yesterday and I'm so sorry about the intro mess. I really hope she comes back."

On 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC), comedienne Amy Poehler expressed her "love" for Rashida Jones, her 'Parks and Recreation' co-star. But then, Amy's enthusiasm turned out to be kind of ... infectious. And not in a good way. More like infectious in a creepy way.

After Poehler declared her love for Rashida, host Jimmy Fallon became overtaken by the spirit of romance. Who did he express his undying passion for? Questlove, the 39-year-old male drummer for The Roots, Jimmy's house band. "I love ... Questlove," he said, in a slightly too intense tone of voice.

There's a history between Janet Jackson and Roots drummer Questlove, it was revealed on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on NBC).

Explains Janet, "Quest gave me a T-shirt."
"Wow, you still have that?" says Questlove.

When Janet admits she loves it and wears it all the time, he gets a little flustered -- and maybe reads a bit into it with a sexy riff. While Janet blushes, Jimmy clears the air.

The other day Questlove, drummer of The Roots, was taking a break from the grueling day of being the house band at 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.' He goes to the commissary at NBC's 30 Rock headquarters and notices that they have a special menu that celebrates Black History Month.

Great, right? Well, judging by the menu above, it wasn't all that great. Questlove snapped that picture and posted it to Twitter with the caption, "Hmm HR?"

What's funny is that how, in this ultra-connected society, this has become a real story, and not just a strange, not-meant-to-be-offensive-but-is-anyway occurrence. According to Mediaite, not only did the NBC corporate folks respond with a tweet (under a little-used @NBCU account) that the sign was taken down, but NBC's own African-American issues web site The Grio interviewed the cook who made up the menu. You could call 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon' the first fully interactive late-night television program. Since its inception in the form of webisodes asking viewers to pick out the show's logo, the show has practically broken the fourth wall with the number of behind-the-scenes peeks it offers.

House band The Roots is largely to thank for that. During the changing of the guard -- er, host -- Max Weinberg advised drummer/bandleader Questlove (Ahmir Thompson) that his band had worked with five songs during its first two weeks of the show with Conan O'Brien. Now, nine months into its new day job, The Roots has recorded 1,000 of its bite-size "sandwiches" (so called because they're played before and after segments on the show). To celebrate, the band has released an EP of the tunes, which are often influenced by the guests themselves.

The Roots are taking their new gig as the official house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon very seriously, even if their initial chances of scoring such a gig seemed like nothing more than a joke by a couple of the show's overworked staffers.

"We were the musical supervisors for [Chappelle's Show] season two and three ... and Dave's partner Neal Brennan was brought over as a consultant, and he sort of jokingly recommended The Roots as a house band," said Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson in a conference call last Tuesday with Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter. "I guess the joke was sort of like, you know, I dare you to ask them, even though they're too busy to take it."

The first wave of shock hit when it was announced that Conan O'Brien would be switching coasts to take Jay Leno's seat. I didn't mind that so much, as I've never been a fan of Leno and am rather glad to see him go. The second bit of news about Jimmy Fallon taking O'Brien's spot consisted of more mixed feelings. I was a big fan of Fallon back in the day, but I was, like, a teenager then.

Times have changed, I've grown up, Fallon's made a lot of crappy movies, and guys playing with their hair when they're nervous isn't so endearing anymore. That last one was a lie, but regardless, I'm unsure of how to feel about Fallon's new job. Now here comes the news that The Roots will be Fallon's band on the show. Now, I must borrow from ?uestlove's name for my "What??!"
